Dear Prospective Families,
Greetings from St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School! By now, I hope that you have become familiar with our emphasis on Challenge. Balance. Joy. embodying what lies at the very core of our mission statement.
Today, we highlight just a few of the ways we balance the lives of our students and our teachers alike. The timing is appropriate as we begin our 2025 Winterim Week on Monday, February 10.
Winterim
During one week of the year, we break free from the regular classroom routine and turn our attention to intensive courses of study dedicated to experimental and experiential learning. Our winterim allows our students and faculty the opportunity to shift gears and collaborate with each other to explore something new and fresh. Areas of opportunity range from hiking the Appalachian Trail for the week, touring the Civil Rights Trail, Firewood and Chainsaw Maintenance, hiking the Perimeter Trail at the University of the South, a fly fishing class led by a professional guide, taking a deep dive into robotics, cinema exploration, and a plethora of other activities.
Take a look here at the type of activities we offer and please stay tuned for highlights from the 2025 Winterim Week ahead. The energy is palpable on campus as our students look forward to new adventures next week. Scroll down the page a bit to enjoy slideshows from 2023 and 2024, highlighting our amazing adventures.
However, we emphasize balance of the physical, the mental, the social and the spiritual in all aspects of school life year-round.Compass Programming and Off Campus Study Programming offer two more examples of our commitment to providing balance in the lives of our students, offering opportunities to think outside the box, consider a deep topic with one another, or get out of town to explore our country and the world.
