harassment, and bullying, over the past several months. These anonymous threats, vitriol, and hateful messages have caused me to fear for my safety and for that of my family members, including my son, if I continue to serve on the board.Sincerely, I want to add that it has been a pleasure for me to serve on the school board and work with executive staff and employees of the District. They are all remarkably qualified and committed professionals and I admire them greatly. Likewise, board colleagues have been cordial, considerate and respectful of others’ views. I feel honored to have had this opportunity, and remain passionately concerned about the issues in our school community. I hope to continue fighting for improvement in our schools but shall do so in other ways.

In its complaint, the People alleged the defendants engaged in multiple illegal acts. The complaint alleges the defendants operated an illegal group residential use by renting apartment units bedroom-bybedroom to tenants on separate leases. The complaint further alleges the defendants created a public nuisance by providing substandard housing that lacked a kitchen at the 1238 10th Street property. Additionally, the complaint alleges the defendants engaged in tenant harassment by attempting to influence a tenant at 1238 10th Street and a tenant at 1433 Euclid Street to vacate their units through fraud, intimidation, or coercion.Ifthedefendants successfully comply with the terms of diversion, the Court will dismiss the charges against the defendants at the end of the diversion period. If the defendants fail to comply with the terms of diversion, the court is authorized to terminate diversion and resume the criminal proceedings.

Earlier this week I moved my elderly father from out of state to live with me in Santa Monica. My father is in very ill health, and I am currently his primary caregiver. Santa Monica-Malibu School Board Pilots Changes to Meeting Public Comment Timing

At its meeting in July, the school board discussed changes to two of its bylaws with the goal of making board meetings “more efficient” and “effective”, to “provide the public and students the opportunity to address the school board without having to wait until late in the agenda,” according to district officials.
On Friday, September 2, the Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) held a Sobriety/Driver’s License Checkpoint near the 1000 block of Santa Monica Boulevard. According to the SMPD, a total of 373 vehicles drove through the checkpoint with 198 being screened. 12 Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered leading to 1 arrest. An additional driver was cited for driving without a license, police noted.

“Hearing public comments on agenda items near the beginning of a meeting is standard practice in many school districts and municipalities, as it allows a governing board to hear from the public and then conduct the business listed on its meeting agenda,” SMMUSD officials said in a press release announcing the changes.

The five Theirworld Global Youth Ambassadors will put pressure on world leaders to make real commitments that will make education a reality for every child. Governments and donors everywhere are underfunding education, and that has to change. In New York on September 19, world leaders will have the opportunity to come together and make commitments that could save this generation’s education.Globally, 260 million children do not have a place in school. At this rate more than half of young people – 825 million – will leave school without the reading
