IN THE CO DENIM DAY Peace Over Violence runs its Denim Day campaign on a Wednesday in April in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The Denim Day campaign was in response to a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because Justices felt the victim was wearing tight jeans and must have helped her rapist remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. In support of Denim Day, members of our Police Department not assigned to our field operations are authorized to wear denim on Wednesday, April 24, 2019.

PINK PATCH PROJECT The San Pablo Police Department celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October with our Pink Patch Project. Officers displayed pink patches on our uniforms for the month and raised over $500 in donations in 2018 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The #PinkPatchProject is a collaborative effort between the Los Angeles County Police Chiefs’ Association and several public safety agencies in Los Angeles County and beyond. These agencies have partnered together to combat breast cancer by promoting public awareness and raising funds for breast cancer research and treatment. Donate: Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 60 East 50th Street, 8th Floor, New York, NY10022, www.bcrf.org.
