I will be launching my very first Mia Maree couture fashion show / Black Tie charity event on September 29, 2018. Also, the plan is to also launch the online boutique on that same day. I will auction some of my gowns at this event and 100% of the proceeds will benefit Oakland CA base, youth dance organization, Rites of Passage. I believe in giving back to our communities. When it comes to our children, I feel supporting anything that they do positive is our first step to show we care.
I am told that as a little girl, I was extremely shy and very prissy. I would rather play dress-up in my mother’s clothes and high heel shoes, than to play outside with the neighborhood children. It was never uncommon to find me sitting in the house, legs crossed, watching fashion shows or beauty pageants on television. Beauty and fashion was always an outlet to my shy personality. For years I have been inspired by fashion designers from all over the world. As a little girl growing up in one of San Francisco’s project communities, there were plenty of obstacles to overcome. My parents always wanted better for me and my brothers and eventually decided to move away from the community I had to come to know as home. We landed in the suburban community of Hayward CA. There I graduated school, married and raised three children. After divorcing several years later I was force into becoming a single mom. For many years my dreams of becoming a fashion designer took a back seat to raising my children alone and making ends meat.

Although, these obstacles proved to be discouraging, I never allowed them, or anything else to get in the way of my love for great fashion. In fact, they only motivated me more to never give up and to keep reaching and working toward my goals. Soon enough, I started attending local fashion schools and making industry contact and connections. It wasn’t long before my hard work and determination paid off.

I’m now an entrepreneur and my clothing line is Mia Maree Couture. It was definitely a long road getting here, but the timing could not have been better. Now, the butterfly displayed on my company logo, represent the shy little girl from the projects, who blossomed into the beautiful, intelligent and sophisticated woman that I am today!
In 2014, Mia Evans presented a small collection at the “Hair and Fashion Battle Expo.” in Sacramento CA. There Mia won first place for best clothing designs, best models, best hair and best make-up. This was Mia’s first time on the runway and it was a great experience. That day Mia Maree Couture was born!!! Mia received a lot of buzz and people wanted to know who she and where to purchase her garments. Since then Mia has presented and attended more fashion shows and networked at events. Currently, Mia is working on her collection and will soon launch Mia Maree Couture September 2018 in Oakland CA.
