About 1 in 8 (12%) women in the US will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women.
I Will Survive, Inc. is a local nonprofit 501 (c)(3) founded by Anisa Palmer in 2010 to increase breast cancer awareness through education and providing funding in lower income communities. I Will Survive, Inc. is in the United Way database serving 13 counties of the greater Atlanta area. The top serving counties include Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, Gwinnett, Clayton, and Henry.

Anisa Palmer, a native of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, is a US Virgin Islands Ambassador. Ms. Palmer obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications from Georgia State University and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Central Florida. She served in the Armed Forces during Operation Iraqi Freedom and survived two tours in Iraq. Unfortunately, Ms. Palmer lost her mother to breast cancer when cancer was still considered a death sentence. She works diligently to ensure that those who reach out to the organization is educated on health and wellness, knowledgeable about proactive prevention of breast cancer, and if diagnosed with breast cancer is uplifted to know that there is an organization that is focused on helping disadvantaged communities. As a proud member of Junior League of Atlanta, Ms. Palmer also volunteers her time to help transform communities and focuses on reducing generational poverty in disadvantaged communities. “We believe we can truly reduce the mortality rate of breast cancer in disadvantaged communities of Greater Atlanta. We need your continued support to make it happen!” I Will Survive, Inc. (IWS) is headquartered in the city of Doraville where the Mayor proclaimed the ribbon cutting ceremony day, April 18 of 2015, as the official “I Will Survive” day. After six years of running much needed programs, IWS plans to continue to “support the fighters” of breast cancer with a holistic approach keeping spiritual, emotional, financial, and physical fitness at the forefront of the mission. Since changes in health care have occurred, IWS has continued to see more organizations and corporations now also focusing on prevention. We used to serve a population of individuals with no health insurance. This is not the case anymore.
Anisa Palmer, MPA, CNP, CPC--‐ is the Founder and Executive Director of I Will Survive, Inc. Her mother was diagnosed with invasive stage IV breast cancer. She lost the battle in 1990.
Once ten years is achieved in 2020, IWS will begin the process to add three additional locations. We envision a world where everyone has equal health care to survive breast cancer, a world more educated about breast cancer and risks, and pro--‐active prevention against breast cancer implemented into all lower income communities globally.

"One woman will die of breast cancer every 13 minutes in the U.S. and every 19 seconds, someone in the world is diagnosed with breast cancer." Your contribution helps us in our life saving programs as we continue to "support the fighters" who are diagnosed with breast cancer and spread prevention tips and education to the communities. A man’s lifetime risk of breast cancer is about 1 in 1,000.
