On Saturday, 19 Jul, SAF Yacht Club’s Sembawang Clubhouse transformed into a vibrant hub of adventure and celebration as we “Seas the Day” at our signature event — Carnival by the Straits 2025. With perfect sunny skies, calm waters, and a lively crowd, it was the ideal setting for a full day of sea, sun, and unforgettable memories.

From the moment gates opened at 10 AM, guests dove straight into action with thrilling seasports rides like banana boat, RHIB rides, ski tube and adv jetski drives. For those looking to bounce into ampoline provided endless laughs, while elaxing, complimentary massage by the

Onshore, the fun was just as exciting. The Quest — our brand-new interactive challenge — had participants racing from station to station, collecting stamps for a shot at the exciting prizes.
Families enjoyed prawning by the pond, took aim at archery targets, and tried their hand at experiential farming.

One of the event highlights was the Boater’s Talk, an engaging afternoon session where boating enthusiasts — both new and seasoned — gathered to hear from two experienced speakers Mr. Lawrence Leong shared thrilling tales from his epic voyage from Seychelles to Singapore in a power catamaran, while Mr Ong offered practical wisdom on boat and engine upkeep, sparking lively discussion and camaraderie among fellow boaters

As the sun began to set, the day concluded on a joyful note with our eagerly awaited lucky draw a perfect finale to an event filled with discovery, laughter, and energy. More than just a carnival, CBTS 2025 was a true celebration of community spirit, and a reminder to embrace every chance to connect, explore, and savour life by the sea

On 23 Aug, from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, the Lazarus Ballroom was filled with laughter, warm conversations, and the spirit of community during our Member's Appreciation Party It was a wonderful afternoon where Members especially those from our boating community gathered to reconnect, catch up, and enjoy each other's company The event was a great success, with plenty of smiles and shared moments that reminded us why we’re proud to be part of the SAFYC family.

Guests enjoyed a delightful spread of food and drinks, lively chats, and a fun-filled round of Bingo that had everyone engaged. Congratulations to all our Bingo winners! Beyond the games and laughter, the event also served as a chance to welcome new Members into the fold, introducing them to our nautical family.
We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who joined us and made the afternoon so special. 15 Jun was the last day of racing The winds were starting to pick up just before the start, and all sailors were excited to get some results in. During the 5-minute starting sequence, the winds picked up to about 18 knots Overly eager sailors were pushing the line, anticipating the start of a challenging race. However, the General Recall flag was flown after the time was up, as too many boats were over the line

The Race Committee restarted the race and all went well. In a turn of events, the wind died and the sailors were unable to meet the time limit for Mark 1, causing the race to be abandoned.
The Committee then shifted the race grounds to the shores of Gwangalli Beach and managed to run 1 race to conclude the event, having met the last warning time limit

Bi-Monthly Trophy Race: 26 Jul and 20 Sep
Bi-Monthly Trophy 26 20 Sep

Two series of the BTR were held since the last issue of the magazine – on 26 Jul and 20 Sep
A total of six boats participated in the July series. Constant and fair winds prevailed, allowing the Race Official to run two races. Race 1 began with an upwind start to Beaulieu Buoy, where Millennium 2 crossed the finish line first before handicap Race 2 was a longer course featuring a rounding at Senoko Buoy, and Road Runner 2 came in first before corrected time.

In the September BTR, three races were conducted with four boats participating. Winds were light and shifty, with occasional wind patches. Premier Cru 1 successfully flew her spinnaker, allowing her to overtake Millennium 2 during Leg 1 of Race 2 Ultimately, Premier Cru 1 crossed the finish line first in all three races before handicapping.

The SAFYC youth sailors recently flew the Singapore flag at the 2025 Singapore-ShanghaiBusan-Fukuoka Friendship Regatta, held in Busan, South Korea, on 9–10 Aug. Nearly 40 sailors from four different countries came together for a fun and exciting weekend of racing and friendship.

The team arrived in Busan a few days early on 6 Aug to get their boats ready and squeeze in three solid days of training. Spirits were high, and the kids were all set for action Race Day 1 started off strong with perfect wind conditions up to 20 knots for the first race! But after that, the wind died down, and the Race Committee had to cancel the rest of the day’s races.

Representing SAFYC were four young talents: Auwin Leow, Kai Chen-Yi, Qi Tan, and Meera Srihari. For Qi and Kai, this was their very first time sailing overseas – an unforgettable experience for the both of them!

Race Day 2 brought heavy storms, and unfortunately, all races were called off But that didn’t stop the sailors from making the most of their trip they took the chance to explore Busan before heading to the prizegiving ceremony.

9-year-old Meera Srihari took home 3rd place in the Under-12 category, sailing like a champ against older competitors!

We just held our annual team building event at SAF Yacht Club and were very happy with the organisation, activities provided and staff support throughout. Highly recommend this place
A well known spot for canoeing, kayaking and sailing. Has well maintained equipment to support all these sports, and the instructors are well trained to guide newcomers. However, it's very exposed to the sun during the day, and the ocean can be quite polluted at times. Do bring sunscreen, as well as shower amenities.

If you’ve ever brought your boat in and been greeted with a big smile (and probably a helpful tip or two), chances are — you’ve met Suhaimi.
He’s been part of the SAF Yacht Club family for 5 years, and let’s just say: he’s more than just your go-to boat guy. He’s a vibe. A legend. And officially, the first-ever “Superfriend” we’ve interviewed.
