Dear Members,

Dear Members,
I hope this message finds you in good health and spirits as we navigate the challenges and opportunities of 2025. It’s hard to believe I’m already presenting my second report for the year.
Like many industries, we’re feeling the pressure of rising interest rates, increased living costs, and tougher competition for discretionary spending in food, beverage, and entertainment. Added to this are growing compliance demands that increase our operating costs. Despite these challenges, our Club remains strong, thanks to the loyalty of our members and our continued focus on value and community. With global uncertainties and a federal election ahead, the Board and Management remain fully committed to guiding the Club forward.
A cornerstone of our success lies in our people. We believe in investing in our staff, not only to have the best-trained team but the most customer-focused individuals in the industry. Their dedication is a major reason why our members continue to enjoy every visit.
You may have seen us refer to our vision in Club communications:
“To create a place at the heart of the community for everyone to enjoy.”
These aren’t just words, they are what drive us every day. From learn-to-swim programs for infants, sponsorship of local sporting and community groups, and fitness and dance activities, to live entertainment, diverse dining options, and holiday accommodations, our offerings continue to grow and evolve to serve the needs of our vibrant community.
This year marks my 30th year on the Board, and I often reflect on the remarkable journey we’ve shared. I first joined the Club in 1969, when we operated out of a former washing machine factory and were embroiled in a lengthy legal battle just to secure a registered club licence. Since then, the transformation has been
extraordinary, and I couldn’t be prouder of how far we’ve come together.
But we can’t rest on our past achievements. The future of the Club must be secured beyond our own tenure, and that’s why planning is underway to progress Ryde Eastwood Leagues into its next chapter. We continue as a board to look strategically at opportunities to ensure the success of the club in the community through our senior’s vision and master plan. You can stay updated on these exciting developments via our website and in our regular journal publications. I encourage all members, past, present, and future, to join us on this journey. Some of us may not see its completion, but that should only make us more inspired to be part of it.
In the meantime, enjoy your Club. Help us grow by introducing new members, and please share any practical ideas you think could help us improve. This is your Club, and I hope you feel as proud to be part of it as I do.
I look forward to seeing you at the Club.
Warm regards,
James (Jim) McClymont PRESIDENT
Dear Members,
As 2025 unfolds, it’s been wonderful to see so many members, families, and friends enjoying all that our Ryde-Eastwood venues have to offer. The club has been full of energy and connection, and we remain dedicated to providing a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experience for every visit.
Over the past few months, we’ve seen fantastic participation from members and guests alike. From dining and entertainment to promotions and events, the atmosphere has been great, and we thank all members for their support. Our updated Grand Rewards program has been well received, and changes to our raffles and other activities have added even more value and fun for everyone. More exciting promotions and enhancements to our current offering are on the way!
As we enter our membership renewal period, we’re thrilled to announce our biggest promotion yet—the $250,000 Cash and Car Giveaway! This incredible campaign will feature weekly and monthly draws, leading up to our grand prize draw where one lucky member will drive away in a brand-new BMW 118i and have the chance to win up to $150,000 in cash. Renew your membership and encourage your family to join to receive up to 3 entries into the major draw. Plus, be part of the monthly key draws held at both venues for even more chances to win!
There’s plenty more happening across the club for members to enjoy. We have some exciting NRL Promotions, including VIP food and beverage experiences at Wests Tigers home games and double passes to both Sydney and Brisbane State of Origin matches. Our Fitness Edge has seen major upgrades and new equipment, with more exclusive member offers to keep you motivated and moving. We’re pleased to introduce Yum Cha lunches at Rice Kid, alongside fantastic lunch specials and memberexclusive dining promotions in East West Kitchen.
Beyond the day-to-day, we’re also focused on the club’s long-term growth and strategic vision. Our Stage 2 Development Application for the senior living precinct is currently under assessment, and we’re optimistic about progressing further in the coming months. We will share more information with members as we received final approvals and ready to move forward. In addition, we have submitted a Planning Proposal for the club’s broader master plan (outlined on page 28) and are actively engaging with council to mould the exciting potential this brings to the wider community. We look forward to inviting our members to provide input and support as the vision evolves.
Thank you for being an essential part of the RydeEastwood family. Your loyalty and ongoing support are what make this club truly special. We’re excited for what’s ahead and look forward to sharing many more memorable moments with you in 2025 and beyond.
Warm regards,
Carl Pozzato Chief Executive Officer Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club

The ERNA Hawks are proudly competing in the Premier League competition of Netball NSW in 2025, continuing our strong tradition of highperformance netball. Six rounds into the season, our Opens team is currently sitting in 4th place, while our U23s are positioned 5th—both teams showing great promise and consistency as the competition heats up.
We’re especially proud of Hawks player Grace Whyte, who has been making an impressive impact in the Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) league with the Sydney Swifts this season. Her performance is a testament to the strength of our development pathway. In addition, Jess Conlan and Frederika Schneideman have also been recognised as training partners with the Swifts in 2025, reinforcing the calibre of talent within the Hawks program.
As the season progresses, we look forward to building on our strong start and continuing to develop elite athletes who represent the ERNA Hawks at the highest levels of the game.
With a solid foundation laid in the opening rounds, the ERNA Hawks are poised for an exciting and competitive season ahead. As we continue to climb the ladder and nurture elite talent, we remain committed to excellence both on and off the court. The future is bright for the Hawks, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the 2025 season holds.

Our season is officially underway, and we’ve started just the way we had hoped. After a demanding pre-season, Head Coach David Gower—along with his dedicated staff and players—put in a tremendous amount of work to ensure we were well-prepared, and that effort is already paying dividends.
As of this update, we’ve played four rounds of competition.
RON
Our Ron Massey Cup team has had a strong start, securing three wins from four matches. Notably, we recorded impressive victories over 2024 grand finalists Wentworthville and Glebe. Despite a setback against Mounties, the team showed resilience by bouncing back with a narrow win over the Canterbury Bulldogs. The squad is shaping up to be a real contender this season, and our partnership with the Wests Tigers continues to add valuable depth and strength across all grades.
SYDNEY SHIELD:
It’s been a challenging start for our Sydney Shield side. While we’ve
been competitive in every match, we’ve struggled to capitalize on key opportunities. However, the team secured their first win of the season last weekend with a solid performance against the Moorebank Rams. We’re confident this will build momentum going forward.
This season, our A Grade team has made the switch to the Parramatta competition—bringing us more closely aligned with our other squads competing in the NSWRL Major Competitions. The transition has been positive, with the team winning both opening games against Hills Bulls and Guildford Owls.
We’re proud of the efforts across all our teams and are excited for what’s to come. If you’re a rugby league fan, we’d love to see you at the games—your support makes all the difference.
Some Imported Dates for Your Diary

2025 is an exciting year for the Seniors Club, starting with a General Meeting in January and the AGM in February, forming a new committee.

Supported by Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club, the Seniors Club holds regular meetings and activities. The Social/Morning Tea meeting is on the first Thursday at 11 am, and the General Meeting is on the third Thursday at 11 am. Both meetings include morning tea and a speaker.

FISHING CLUB
Our first outing for the year was on 2nd March, as the February trip was cancelled for boat inspection.
12 members attended, with moderate N.E. winds and a 2m swell. The sea became choppy near Tommos Reef, 65m deep, with slow action. Toadfish took over, biting off lines and sinkers. We moved outside North Bondi, where fishing improved slightly, but toadfish remained a problem.
Joseph won the R.E.L.C. red wine for the heaviest catch (5.5kg), and new member Sergey won for the biggest fish, a 1.5kg Teraglin, despite seasickness.
The total catch was 93 fish, weighing 35.1kg combined.
The club organizes monthly trips on the first Sunday of each month. The boat departs at 5 am and returns around 2pm. Cost is $70 per person, bait not included.

Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club is excited to share a bold vision for the future, one that enhances our role as a community leader and creates a welcoming, modern space for all generations to enjoy. As part of our planning proposal, we aim to deliver a revitalised Club that meets the needs of our members while supporting growth in the wider West Ryde community.
Short-term hotel accommodation, a premium childcare centre, and a lively café and pedestrian precinct will further strengthen the Club’s connection with the community. Improved links to ANZAC Park will also enhance access to green space for everyone to enjoy.
The concept proposal includes upgraded dining, bar, entertainment, and function spaces, alongside new residential apartments to help address housing needs, particularly for essential workers. A medical and

Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club is progressing with Stage 2 of its seniors housing development, continuing our longterm vision to offer quality, independent living close to the Club for both members and the wider community.
This stage will deliver additional residences across two new buildings, with convenient access to public transport, local amenities, and the Club.

In July 2024, the bowling year began with Mary Rogers winning Major Singles, Anne Clarke and Vicki Attenborough taking Pairs, Anna Bennett winning Minor Singles, and Nancy Yew, Anna Bennett, Dianne Cox, and Jan Frape winning Club 4s. The Club Triples is ongoing.
In November, Lee Chapman and Kim Callaway won the Claudette Herbert President Pairs Trophy. Our teams competed in the Lady’s Pennants in October, but no flag was won. The Open Gender Pennants are ongoing, with Division 5 in second place and eligible for the Play-Off. Kerry Vickery.
The Open Pennants season is nearing its end with two games left. Club Thirroul is currently second and has qualified for the finals. Our last game is against the first-place team, and two wins should secure top spot.
The Mixed Pairs Championship has reached the final after two thrilling semis. Vicki Attenborough and Josh Miller beat Robyn and Barry Hazelgrove 20-13, while Linda O’Neil and Russell Dobbs won 18-17 against Anne Clarke and Mick Barr.
In May, Club Thirroul will host the Seaside Classic, with 28 teams competing for $5000 in prize money.
