OF DIRECTORS

Dear Members,

Dear Members,
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. It’s hard to believe we are already in 2025!
Looking back, 2024 was a busy and successful year for the Board and Management, but there is even more to come in 2025. Before outlining our future plans, I want to thank all members of Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club and Club Thirroul for your loyalty and continued support. Your engagement drives our success, and we are excited to continue building a strong future together.
I also extend my gratitude for your overwhelming support at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and recent Board elections. The Board is privileged to have a wealth of expertise, with members who are successful business owners, former bank managers, builders, supervisors, and key representatives from ClubsNSW, Leagues Clubs Australia, and various service and sporting organisations. This extensive experience allows us to make well-informed decisions that benefit our members and the broader community.
To those who attended the 2024 AGM, thank you. It was a spirited and engaging meeting, full of insightful questions that allowed the Board to share our vision, discuss our achievements, and outline how we plan to continue our success. The positive feedback from members reaffirmed our commitment to taking you with us on this exciting journey ahead.
Riverly Seniors Living Development: Following years of planning, our Seniors Living development is set to begin, with a second Development Application (DA) to be submitted in February. This project will deliver 80+ modern apartments, creating a safe and highquality retirement community adjoining the club. Once approved, construction is expected to take approximately two years, reinforcing our commitment to providing sustainable long-term assets that support our members.
The Master Plan – Enhancing Member Experience & Club Facilities: Our planning proposal for the master plan has been submitted and is designed to elevate the Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club experience while securing its future as a modern, multi-purpose precinct for members. The vision includes a revitalised club facility, expanded dining and entertainment spaces, and upgraded leisure and wellness amenities, ensuring members have access to first-class facilities. This redevelopment will also introduce medical and childcare facilities, retail spaces, and commercial offices, further enhancing convenience for our members. Importantly, the Club will remain fully operational throughout construction, ensuring uninterrupted access to our facilities as we build for the future.
As a Club, we are fortunate to have the backing of over 40,000 members. This strong membership base plays a crucial role in helping us advocate for our plans. Working together, we can ensure our voice is heard, supporting projects that benefit both the Club and the broader community.
While these projects take shape, we will continue to operate what I believe is one of the finest clubs in Sydney (and yes, I may be a little biased!).
We invite all members, friends, and families to be part of this exciting future. Stay engaged, share your thoughts, and follow our progress at www.releagues.com.au.
Together, we are building something truly special, and I am proud to be part of the Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club family.
See you at the Club soon!
James
McClymont PRESIDENT
Dear Members,
A warm welcome to 2025! To all our new and returning members, and to the wider Ryde community, I hope you’ve had a safe and joyful start to the new year. It’s an exciting time, and we look forward to all the opportunities this year will bring. It has been wonderful to see so many of you visiting the Club recently, whether reconnecting with family and friends or enjoying everything we have to offer.
Over the holiday season, our focus was on creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere with a range of exceptional promotions, entertainment, and member offers. It was a joy to see so many members and guests making the most of these opportunities. Whether celebrating Christmas or New Year or simply enjoying time together, the Club was alive with festive spirit and activity.
Since our last journal, we have been focused on progressing key projects and planning for the year ahead. Our commitment remains to ensure RydeEastwood Leagues Club continues to be a welcoming and essential part of the community. We aim to provide exceptional experiences that meet and exceed expectations, leaving a lasting impression on all who visit.
Our festive events were well-received. From the joy of Christmas Day celebrations to the excitement of New Year’s Eve, the feedback from members has been overwhelmingly positive. Our Christmas raffles and promotions added a special touch to the season, and the school holiday activities brought great enjoyment to families in the area. In January, Australia Day was celebrated with the hosting of the City of Ryde’s Citizen Presentations, alongside events and promotions for members and guests.
Looking ahead, we are thrilled about the exciting opportunities and activities planned for the coming months. February marks the launch of our new Grand Rewards program, with a $50,000 promotion to kick things off. Easter raffles, cash draws, and our everpopular Mother’s Day Buffet Lunch and prize draws on Sunday 12 May promise to make the first half of the year truly memorable. Sports enthusiasts can look forward to footy promotions, including Wests Tigers
tickets, State of Origin events, and VIP experiences. Live entertainment won’t disappoint, with upcoming acts such as Peter Powers and Abbalanche, alongside new raffles and promotions designed to keep things fresh and exciting.
Our dining options also continue to evolve. East West Kitchen and Coffee Club remain favourites, offering seasonal specials alongside their popular dishes. Additionally, we are excited to introduce Rice Kid Asian Dining, which brings a vibrant selection of Southeast Asian flavours to our members and guests.
As we celebrate over 60 years of serving the Ryde community, the significance of the Club as a vital hub remains at the forefront of our vision. Supporting over 40,000 members, employing 180 staff, and welcoming more than 600,000 visitors annually, the Club is proud to contribute $85 million to the local and state economy each year.
The Club’s role continues to evolve, and in 2025, we will advance key projects such as the Seniors Village development and our Planning Proposal to achieve our Master Plan in collaboration with the council and the community. Your feedback will play a crucial role as we work to shape a future that reflects the aspirations of our members and the wider community. Our vision remains steadfast: to be “a place at the heart of the community for everyone to enjoy.”
Thank you for being a valued part of Ryde-Eastwood and Club Thirroul. Your continued loyalty and support are what make our success possible, and we look forward to sharing an exciting year ahead with you.
Warm regards,
Carl Pozzato CEO

In 2024, Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club reinforced its commitment to building a stronger, more connected community through diverse initiatives and significant contributions. Through the ClubGRANTS program, the club distributed over $700,000 in funding to local organisations, supporting education, health, and grassroots sporting clubs. Notable grants included $70,000 to the Adam Gardiner Foundation for amyloidosis research, $20,000 to support insulin pumps for children with Type 1 diabetes through the Daniher Foundation, and $15,000 to provide transport for isolated individuals via the Cutler Foundation. These efforts demonstrate the club’s dedication to enhancing well-being across the community.
The club also championed various charitable events over the past 12 months, raising both funds and awareness for meaningful causes. Pink Week was a standout, raising $5,000 for the McGrath Foundation to support breast cancer patients and their families. The World’s Greatest Shave generated over $1,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation, while the club partnered with Escabags to provide escape bags to individuals fleeing domestic and family violence. Community initiatives also included support for Beanies for Brain Cancer with the Mark Hughes Foundation, $4,000 raised during Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea for cancer services, and a strong focus on mental health through R U OK? Day.
In addition to these efforts, Ryde-Eastwood Leagues proudly sponsored key events like the Granny Smith Festival and West Ryde’s 2024 Sustainability Festival, promoting eco-conscious living and engaging the local community. Initiatives such as Harmony Week celebrated inclusivity and diversity, while events like the Family of League Sportsman’s Lunch connected the rugby league community and supported families in need. Through these diverse programs, Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club has strengthened its role as a community leader, fostering inclusivity, sustainability, and meaningful support for those in need.
On Thursday 28 November 2024, the Ryde-Eastwood Leagues team proudly participated in the Make a Stand Against Domestic Violence Walk, organised by the Ryde Hunters Hill Domestic, Family, and Sexual Violence Committee.
Walking alongside our community, we joined in raising awareness and remembering those impacted by domestic and family violence. Starting at the School of Engineering car park, we walked to Elouera Reserve, where we heard heartfelt speeches from local leaders and participated in a moving ceremony to honour the lives lost to domestic violence.
We are honoured to have been part of this meaningful event and remain committed to supporting initiatives that create a safer and stronger community for all.
Congratulations to Daniel Ironside on setting a new Guinness World Record for the greatest virtual distance on a static cycle in 12 hours (male). On Saturday 18 January 2025, at The Fitness Edge, Daniel broke the record with an incredible display of endurance, determination, and resilience.
This remarkable achievement is a testament to his hard work and mental strength, inspiring everyone who witnessed his journey. We are proud to celebrate this milestone with Daniel and can’t wait to see what challenges he takes on next. Well done on this extraordinary success!
On Sunday 27 October, Ryde-Eastwood Leagues hosted its annual Fun Run/Walk at Memorial Park, Meadowbank, bringing together walkers, joggers, runners, and volunteers for a fantastic morning of fitness, fun, and fundraising.
Participants had the option of tackling either a 5km or 10km course or joining as volunteers to support the event. The atmosphere was buzzing with energy as our community united for a great cause.
All proceeds were donated to Jeans for Genes Australia, continuing our proud tradition of supporting life-changing research. This year, we raised over $20,000, adding to the more than $120,000 we’ve contributed over the past 27 years.
We are incredibly grateful to our members, staff, and the local community for making this event a success. We look forward to welcoming you all back for an even bigger and better Fun Run in 2025!

One of the things that makes our club special is its deep connection to the local community. We’re proud to work closely with our partners at Wests Tigers, ensuring a strong pathway for emerging players. This connection extends to some of the best local junior clubs, including Ryde Rhinos, Carlingford Cougars, Dundas Shamrocks, and North Ryde Hawks. These grassroots clubs nurture the next generation of talent, and we are committed to supporting them every step of the way.
We’re also excited to welcome several key signings to the squad this season. Callum Ellis and Lachlan Poko
new faces are sure to add depth and skill to an already impressive squad, and we can’t wait to see them in action.
None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of our sponsors. A huge thank you goes out to our major sponsor, RydeEastwood Leagues Club, whose generous backing helps us reach new heights. We’re also grateful for the continued support of Brydens Lawyers, Gold Security Management, and Bendigo Bank North Ryde, whose contributions help keep the club running smoothly. This year, we’re also excited to welcome new partners like GWM Ryde, Starr Plumbing, and Kenny Constructions, who are joining forces with us to make this season a success.
We can’t wait for all the thrilling action to unfold, and we hope you’ll be there to experience it with us. Join us at TG Millner and cheer on the team as we make 2025 a season to remember!
In closing, I hope you all had a happy Christmas and a safe New Year. See you at the games. Watch this space.
