Chiropractic And Baseball Baseball and chiropractics might seem like an odd combination for some people, but it's becoming far more common lately, and why not? Chiropractic has helped some of the most famous people in the world recover from injuries or even prevent them. It's an important thing for all of us to remember that our bones and muscles, just like any other part of our bodies, can wear down with time. As you sit, sleep, walk, drive and any other activity, the different positions have a wide range of effects on the human body. Normal wear and tear takes place on anything, even the most well built machine or the most well built person. As such, it should come as no real surprise that athletes are prone to even more wear and tear than those of us who live a little more sedentary lifestyle. With baseballs coming at you 100 miles per hour on a slow day, and sliding into home plate to make that last inning saving run for your team, as well as swinging a bat at all speeds to connect with a fastball, the chances of a neck or back injury or pain are good. In fact, given a profession like baseball, the chances of pain in the neck or back seem inevitable. This probably accounts for why so many baseball teams seem to be getting on board with chiropractics and chiropractors in recent months and years. A story that gathered a great deal of attention a year or so ago was one which was entitled, "Phillies Get Hamel a Chiropractor." The Philadelphia Phillies had agreed, at the request of pitcher Hamel to get the team a chiropractor to travel with them. They were adding one on staff, rather than making the team go out to find one in the cities they visited. The story was something of a nine days wonder in Pennsylvania, and we all chalked it up to the fact that chiropractic care wasn't something that was normally part of the professional sports team. It makes perfect sense. Seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis can help you to move more freely, to keep your musculoskeletal system healthier and even to prevent injuries. Adding a key element such as a chiropractor to the medical team of a large baseball team just makes good business sense for the team. Keeping your players as healthy as possible means you win more. Chiropractics aren't new to baseball. As far back as the 1920's a Fort Collins chiropractor traveled with the New York Yankees. An author, Cash Asher, wrote the story in the mid-1940s and claimed at that point that the Yankees didn't want anyone else to know that he traveled with them. That was their secret recipe to success. More than one team from the NFL has a chiropractor working with them, while multiple other professional athletic teams and organizations have signed on their own team Fort Collins back pain doctor Like a chiropractor.
