sta décimo quinta edición de la Ruta del Arte representa de nuevo una invitación a los amantes de las artes para visitar los estudios de artistas en Ibiza y Formentera, así como una guía por la escena artística. La portada muestra una marina con Formentera en el horizonte, pintada por Peter Ritzer. Su trabajo se centra últimamente en la naturaleza inanimada: paisajes, cielos, flores y el mar - típicamente capturado en una atmósfera tranquila que irradia un estado de ánimo meditativo. En su impresionante carrera como pintor, ha cambiado de tema más de una vez y ha tratado variedad de temas y estilos. Además es uno de los fundadores del ArtClub y actualmente su presidente. En la contraportada se encuentra una escultura del fallecido Jacques Guérin, un joyero reconvertido en escultor en Ibiza, que originalmente inspiró la idea de publicar una revista presentando a artistas locales para invitar a los amantes del arte a sus estudios. Murió en un accidente en 2004 y por lo tanto fue capaz de ver sólo las dos primeras ediciones que se realizaron. En la solapa interior de la portada una obra de arte digital del fotógrafo Bamboo quien además se adentra en la escultura en la presente edición. La publicación de este año se centra en el décimo quinto aniversario del Art Club y en el de su portavoz, RUTA DEL ARTE. Por eso no solo actualizamos digitalmente la foto original de los fundadores del ArtClub del 2002 abajo para mostrar al equipo real en el centro de sus iniciativas, sino también un corto resumen de las actividades del Art Club durante los años justo en frente de la sección de artistas. Cerrando la sección de los pintores hay un artículo sobre la reproducción de obras de arte y lo que se considera un original compilado por Pritam. El sujeto tiene sus complicaciones en una época de plena reproducibilidad y muestra diferentes aspectos en las diversas ramas del arte visual. Por lo tanto, podría ser interesante para los amantes del arte y los artistas también. De la preocupación del Art Club para promover talentos jóvenes y para proporcionar un foro surge otro artículo que proviene de la Escuela de Arte de Ibiza. Se adentra en el departamento de Ebanistería, uno de los enfoques de formación junto a Forja artística, el diseño de moda y el diseño interior de la escuela de arte en la isla con larga tradición, y presenta talentos prometedores. La cooperación iniciada continuará en los próximos números. Por último, tengo que abordar dos obituarios de artistas que han participado en la RUTA en años anteriores: Marie Ebbesen y Lothar Schliemann, ambos pintores y por lo tanto presentes en la sección de pintores. Marie Ebbesen, que ha participado en 8 números, murió el pasado septiembre a los 93 años. Lothar Schliemann participó en dos ocasiones y murió el pasado agosto a la edad de 80 años. Ambos son una gran pérdida para la comunidad de artistas de Ibiza y se recordarán durante mucho tiempo.

his fifteenth edition of the Ruta del Arte is once again an invitation to art lovers to visit the studios of the participating artists in Ibiza and Formentera and a guide to the island’s art scene. The cover shows a seascape with Formentera on the horizon, painted by Peter Ritzer. His work lately focuses on the inanimate nature: landscapes, skies, flowers and the sea – typically captured in a quiet atmosphere radiating a meditative mood. In his impressive career as a painter, he has changed subjects more than once though, and covered a variety of themes and styles. Moreover he is one of the ArtClub’s founders and presently its president. On the back cover a sculpture by the late Jacques Guérin, a trained jeweller turned sculptor in Ibiza who originally inspired the idea of publishing a magazine presenting local artists in order to invite art lovers to their studios. He died in an accident in 2004 and thus was able to see only the first two issues come true. On the cover’s inner sleeve a work of digital art by photographer Bamboo who also tries himself at sculpture in the present edition. The focus of this year’s edition is on the Art Club’s fifteenth anniversary and that of its mouthpiece, the RUTA DEL ARTE. For that reason we not only digitally updated the original photo of the ArtClub’s founders from 2002 below to show the actual team at the core of its initiatives but also put together a short piece summing up the Art Club’s activities during the years, right in front of the artists’ section. Closing the Painters’ section is a feature on reproduction of artworks and what is considered an original compiled by Pritam. The subject has its complications in an age of reproducibility and shows different aspects in the various branches of visual art. Thus it might be interesting for art lovers and artists alike. The Art Club’s concern to promote young talent and to provide a forum gives rise to another feature contributed by the Art School Ibiza. It gives an insight into the department of Cabinetmaking, a training focus next to Artistic Smithery, fashion and interior design, and presents promising talents. The initiated cooperation will continue in future issues. At last, I have to address two obituaries of artists who have participated in the RUTA in previous years: Marie Ebbesen and Lothar Schliemann, both painters and thus contained in the painters’ section. Marie Ebbesen who has participated in 8 issues died last September at 93 years. Lothar Schliemann participated on 2 occasions and died last August at the age of 80. Both are a great loss to Ibiza’s artist community and will be missed for a long time to come..

he Convention Centre of Ibiza is incorporated into a unique building inspired by traditional Ibicencan architecture and surrounded by nature at its best. It offers installations and equipment of high standards, in keeping with the category of events it hosts. The events taking place in it, however, are not limited to conventions only but extend to cultural activities and productions of great prestige and professionalism. Highlights have been so far, for instance, the Moscow Ballet, the Art Club’s annual exhibition “Ruta del Arte”, the annual exhibition of the Association of Visual Artists of Eivissa (AMAE) and various operas staged by Armin Heinemann.

Can Jeroni Sant Josep de Sa Talaia

a galería de arte Can Jeroni fue inaugurada el 17 de diciembre de 2009 con el objetivo de difundir, dinamizar y fomentar las diferentes artes plásticas, creadas tanto en la isla de Ibiza como en el exterior. Can Jeroni se encuentra en el centro de Sant Josep, al lado de la iglesia y en el inicio del camino que lleva hasta sa Talaia. Sus instalaciones forman parte del antiguo cine de Can Jeroni, que durante años se mantuvo activo y que de nuevo recobra su vocación de centro de expansión cultural. En Can Jeroni se han realizado a lo largo de estos últimos años varias exposiciones que han dotado a esta galería de una merecida fama entre los artistas de la Isla. Sus instalaciones, llenas de luz y tranquilidad, ofrecen un espacio idóneo para disfrutar de la creación artística. Can Jeroni es actualmente la galería de arte de referencia en el municipio de Sant Josep con una programación encuadrada en el programa de acciones culturales que la Regidoria de Cultura realiza a lo largo del año.

he art gallery Can Jeroni was inaugurated December 17, 2009, with the aim of promoting the variety of visual arts created both on the island and abroad. Can Jeroni is located in the centre of Sant Josep, not far from the church and at the beginning of the path to the Atalaya mountain. The building is part of the old cinema that was operating for many years. Now it recovers its vocation as a cultural centre. Can Jeroni hosted a couple of shows over the last years that made its name among the artists of the island. The rooms, brightly lit and quiet, offer a space that is ideal for looking at art. At the moment, Can Jeroni is the showroom of reference in the municipality, with a program that fits the cultural action staged by the cultural department of Sant Josep.

CAN CURT Sant Agustí

a Sala de Exposiciones de Can Curt se encuentra integrada en el Centre Cultural de Can Curt, en la plaza de Sant Agustí. Después de varias remodelaciones, Can Curt adquiere un aspecto moderno que se integra con la arquitectura tradicional de los edificios que la rodean. Su ubicación en la plaza de Sant Agustí, le proporciona una especial relevancia como núcleo de oferta cultural que de forma continuada ofrece la Regidoría de Cultura del municipio josepí. Desde su inauguración han sido muchísimos artistas quienes nos han ofrecido diferentes muestras de su trabajo. Can Curt ofrece la posibilidad de que artistas consagrados o no, puedan mostrar su trabajo a quienes decidan disfrutar de la calma y el relajado ambiente que ofrece Sant Agustí. Para el presente año se han programado exposiciones diversas, reservando las fiestas de Sant Agustí, en agosto, para las más tradicionales y especiales..

he showroom of Can Curt is located within the Cultural Centre Can Curt, on the plaza of Sant Agustí. After being remodelled various times, Can Curt obtained a modern look which integrates with the traditional architecture of the surrounding buildings. Its location on the plaza of Sant Agustí imparts a special relevance as a nucleus of cultural events that the department of culture of Sant Josep is constantly promoting. Since its opening, countless artists have showcased their work. Can Curt offers the possibility to artists – be they renown or not – to show their work to visitors that enjoy the calm and relaxed atmosphere of Sant Agustí. For this year various exhibitions have been scheduled, reserving the Sant Agustí festivities in August for the more traditional and special ones.

The gallery Formentera Report was founded by Juan Picca. Here you can find all the photos published in the 15 issues of the magazine since its foundation. l Club Diario de Ibiza nació en abril de 1993. Los ibicencos han encontrado en él un foro para el diálogo. Un club abierto y plural que no ha parado de crecer desde sus inicios. El Club organiza más de cien actos anuales y congrega a más de 11.000 visitantes cada temporada. En la actualidad, se ha constituido en una referencia esencial en la vida social y cultural. Durante los últimos años, el Club, inicialmente más centrado en ofrecer conferencias y debates ha vivido una diversificación de las actividades. Así, el foro del periódico lleva a cabo numerosos ciclos de cine, conciertos, obras de teatro, espectáculos de baile y exposiciones de arte que le convierten en un auténtico dinamizador de la vida social y cultural de la isla. lub Diario was started in April 1993. People have come to use it as a platform of dialogue. An open and pluralistic club which has never stopped growing. At present, the Club organizes more than a hundred events per year and attracts more than 11.000 visitors each season. It has become an essential reference point for social and cultural life. Initially more centred in offering conferences and debates, the Club recently diversified its activities considerably. Thus, the platform initiated by the newspaper hosts movies, concerts, plays, dance events and art exhibitions, converting it into a dynamic element in the social and cultural life of the island. Sa Punta des Molí Sant Antoni de Portmany Carrer de s'Embarcador

l espacio cultural de Sa Punta des Molí consta de la sala de exposiciones “Walter Benjamin”, una almazara y un molino museizados, un auditorio y un jardín botánico. Se encuentra en un punto de gran valor etnológico y natural desde donde se domina la bahía de Portmany. El espacio conforma un lugar único y es el referente cultural del Poniente de la isla. A lo largo del año acoge todo tipo de instalaciones creativas y acontecimientos culturales: exposiciones, conciertos, festivales de cine, talleres, presentaciones de libros, espectáculos, teatro…

he cultural space Sa Punta des Molí comprises the showroom “Walter Benjamin”, an oil press and a windmill turnd into a museum, an auditorium and a botanical garden. It is situated in a place of great ethnological and natural value dominating the Portmany bay. The compound forms a unique location and is the cultural reference point for the West of the island. Over the year it hosts all kind of creative installations and cultural events: exhibitions, concerts, film festivals, workshops, book presentations, performances, theatre...

Far de ses Coves Blanques Sant Antoni de Portmany Carrer Alemanya, 2

l Far de ses Coves Blanques es el antiguo faro, ya en desuso, de Portmany, construido en 1887. Tras una restauración y adecuación, actualmente está dedicado a usos culturales. Es la sede del Centre d’Interpretació de la Mar, que tiene como fin el estudio, la investigación, la exposición y la promoción de temas marinos. Cada verano acoge la Universidad Internacional del Mar.

he Far ses Coves Blanques was formerly Portmany’s lighthouse, built in 1887 but out of order for years. After restauration and shaping up, it is now dedicated to cultural uses. It is the seat of the Centre for the interpretation of the Sea, whose task is the studying, putting on display and promoting marine matters. Each summer, it hosts the International University of the Sea.

Centro Cultural de Jesús

a Sala de Exposiciones del CCDJ forma parte del moderno centro cultural situado en el centro del pueblo de Jesús, un espacio dotado con auditorio, sala de estudio, y salas polivalentes. Su actividad es contínua, tanto por la celebración de actos culturales y espectáculos, como por el uso diario de los vecinos de sus diferentes servicios, garantizando una concurrencia de público a las exposiciones. La sala se encuentra equipada con 46 metros lineales de rail, con lo que se consigue una gran cantidad de espacio muy versátil. Además, se trata de una zona luminosa, moderna, diáfana, y con posibilidad de exponer un gran número de piezas.

he Exhibition Hall is part of the modern cultural centre located in the centre of the village of Jesus, a space equipped with an auditorium, study room, and multipurpose rooms. una Llena de Arte es una feria de Arte informal al aire libre que se celebra hace 14 años consecutivos. Está abierta a todos los artistas que deseen participar mostrando sus obras, con el fin de conseguir una panorámica de la vida artística de la isla.

La idea surgió en el 2003 por iniciativa de Sola en Art Club Ibiza bajo el nombre de Noche del Arte, tuvo lugar en los jardines de Las Dalias el primer domingo de mes en las noches de verano durante 5 años. Pintores, escultores y fotógrafos mostraban sus obras y algún performance o actividad artística paralela sucedía a lo largo de la noche. Sola organizó además espectaculares desfiles de arte, donde los artistas visuales creaban originales vestuarios para ser desfilados. Alumnos de diseño de moda de la Escuela de Artes y Oficios de Ibiza eran invitados a participar.

The idea emerged in 2003 at the initiative of Sola at Art Club Ibiza under the name of Noche del Arte and took place in the gardens of Las Dalias on the first Friday of the month on summer nights for 5 years. Painters, sculptors and photographers showed their works, and some performance or parallel artistic activity happened throughout the night. Sola also organised spectacular art parades, where visual artists created original costumes to be paraded. Fashion design students from the School of Arts and Trades of Ibiza were invited to participate.

A partir del 2008 pasó a llamarse Domingo del Arte y ser una exposición itinerante celebrándose en diferentes municipios de la isla. Las calles de Santa Eulalia, Santa Gertrudis, Sant Josep, Sant Antoni, San Juan y Eivissa han disfrutado de estos eventos artísticos.

En el 2013 vuelve a cambiar de nombre, pasando a ser la Luna Llena de Arte, lo que indica una sincronía con la luna. Bajo la organización de Aída Miró, con un estilo propio pero sin alterar el concepto, pasa a establecerse en Santa Gertrudis. Cada luna llena la Plaza de la Iglesia se llena de obras de arte, acompañadas de la selección musical de nuestra residente Djane Tsunami, actuaciones de música en vivo, danza, performances o arte urbano en directo.

a Ruta del Arte se inició hace quince años como iniciativa de una libre asociación de artistas. Su propósito es dar a conocer unos cuantos de la extraordinaria multitud de creadores –muchas veces desconocidos– y presentarles al público en toda su diversidad. En el proyecto sin jurado, compuesto por colegas sin prejuicios, se mezclan artistas renombrados internacionalmente con estudiantes avanzados y aficionados empedernidos. La selección se basa esencialmente en la iniciativa de los participantes sin representar la totalidad. Además resulta que la participación varía de un año a otro, así que se incorporan nuevos talentos cada vez.

La Ruta del Arte sale a fin de invitar a un público interesado en las artes –tanto a los expertos y coleccionistas como a los aficionados– a explorar la isla por caminos diferentes a los habituales y visitar a los artistas de los que quieran conocer su obra y el lugar en que trabajan. Así que póngase en marcha y empiece la verdadera RUTA DEL ARTE descubriendo algunos de los artistas siguientes.

he Art Route was started fifteen years ago as an initiative of a few artists who informally founded an association. Its purpose is to highlight some of the multitude of creative minds on the islands, often thriving in the shadows, and present them to a wider public, in all their diversity. Compiled by colleagues, without a jury, the project admits internationally renowned artists as well as committed newcomers and keen amateurs. The selection is based essentially on the initiative of the participants and does not claim to be complete. Moreover, participation fluctuates from one year to the next, and thus new talents are continually being incorporated. Ruta del Arte invites a public interested in the arts – experts, collectors and art lovers alike – to explore Ibiza off the beaten track, and meet the artists they choose at their place of work. So take the opportunity and start out along the real RUTA DEL ARTE by visiting some of the following artists and their work while touring the island.

EL ART CLUB CUMPLE 15 AÑOS

l Art Club se fundó hace 15 años, cuando un puñado de artistas se reunieron en 2002 que enfocaron en la tarea de concentrar las fuerzas creadoras de la isla y en crear oportunidades de exponer sus obras más allá de las pocas galerías en la isla. Desde 2003, el Art Club de Ibiza por una parte edita la revista RUTA DEL ARTE que presenta artistas locales e invita a visitar sus estudios y por la otra organiza cada verano el foro de arte al aire libre LUNA LLENA DE ARTE que periódicamente escenifica de manera informal un panorama de lo que se crea en la isla en el ámbito del arte. El equipo detrás de las iniciativas ha cambiado a fondo en el transcurso del tiempo. De los fundadores quedan Peter Ritzer, acutalmente el presidente del Club, la tesorera Tina K. y Chris von Gagern, el gerente y editor de la RUTA. Los otros se han mudado de la isla, han dimitido o fallecieron. De los cambios incisivos me gustaría mencionar los más recientes: En 2013 murió el pintor y miembro fundador Bernd Flemming, en 2015 Sola, iniciadora de diversas iniciativas y la primera presidente del Art Club. Nuevos colaboradores se han puesto en su lugar para completar el equipo. Desde 2012 Aida Miró se encarga del foro de arte al aire libre LUNA LLENA DE ARTE y del cargo de secretaria del Art Club. Desde 2014 Pritam coopera como redactor con la RUTA. Además hay ayudantes esporádicos como las correctoras de prueba Carmen Palomino y Lizzy Forrester y otros colaboradores fieles como Dirk, Celia Jiménez y Petra Reimers con cargos menos específicos.

La RUTA experimenta su 15ª edición este año. La alta fluctuación entre los participantes de un año al otro asegura un nivel consistente de interés por parte de los lectores. En 2011 la exposición anual con motivo del lanzamiento de la revista se mudó del Club Diario de Ibiza al Palacio de Congresos en Sta. Eulària ya que el número de artistas participantes excedió la capacidad del local del Club Diario. El centro de congresos es el único lugar en Ibiza que puede albergar una exposición tan grande. Anualmente se llena no solo de obras de unos 80 artistas, sino en la inauguración también de visitantes a sus límites. Como actuación estelar el grupo de artistas Foc y Fum ha acompañado el evento desde 2013.

Después de la fase de trasladarse de un municipio al otro, bajo la dirección de Aida el evento LUNA LLENA DE ARTE se ha consolidado en Santa Gertrudis por su posición central, su Ayuntamiento cooperativo y su área peatonal que ofrece un sitio adaptable para un variable número de participantes. Desde hace 2013 hemos organizado un SUPERMERCADO DEL ARTE por Navidad en Santa Eulària: obras pequeñas, precios asequibles – inspirado por el evento en la Vara de Rey de Eivissa que dejó de existir después de 17 años. Mientras tanto, ya tuvo lugar cuatro veces y con una aceptación creciente. Además de los eventos regulares, entremedias realizamos exposiciones temáticas: en 2014 la exposición fotográfica Luces vagantes en la sala de exposiciones del Consell, sa nostra sala y en 2016 la colectiva Joint Venture en la Sala Walter Benjamin en Sa Punta des Molí, Sant Antoni. Por desgracia, la 2ª edición del taller de Escultores en vivo planeada para 2015, donde escultores crean una escultura cada uno en terreno público y bajo los ojos de los visitantes, no se pudo realizar (la primera edición tuvo lugar en 2012 con el apoyo de Art Club). Para celebrar el aniversario del Art Club Ibiza el Club Diario nos ofrece una retrospectiva de lo más destacado de 15 años la cual se inaugurará el 26 de septiembre y durará hasta el 11 de octubre.

The team behind the initiatives has changed profoundly over time. Of the founders there still are Peter Ritzer, currently the club’s president, treasurer Tina K. and Chris von Gagern, the manager and editor of the RUTA. The others have moved from the island, resigned or died. Of the incisive changes I would like to mention the most recent ones: In 2013, the painter and founder member Bernd Flemming died, so did Sola in 2015, initiator of various initiatives and the first president of the Art Club. New contributors have taken their place to complete the team. Since 2012, Aida Miró has taken charge of the outdoor art forum LUNA LLENA DE ARTE and the position of secretary of the Art Club. Since 2014, Pritam has contributed as an editor to the RUTA. In addition, there are sporadic helpers such as the proof readers Carmen Palomino and Lizzy Forrester and other faithful collaborators like Dirk, Celia Jiménez and Petra Reimers with less specific charges. This year, the RUTA is celebrating its 15th edition. The high fluctuation of the participants ensures a consistently high interest on the part of the readers. In 2011, the exhibition linked to the annual launch of the magazine moved from the Club Diario de Ibiza to the Palacio de Congresos (Sta Eulalia) as the number of participating artists burst the framework of the former premises. The convention centre is the only place that can hold such a large exhibition on the island. Annually it has not only been filled to its capacity with the works of about 80 artists but at the opening also with a large public. As a special highlight, the Foc y Fum artist group has been accompanying the event since 2013.

After the phase of moving from one municipality to the other, the event LUNA LLENA DE ARTE has consolidated in Santa Gertrudis under the direction of Aida because of its central situation, its cooperative administration and its pedestrian area that offers an adaptable space for a variable number of participants. In 2013 an ART SUPERMARKET was added as a regular event around Christmas: small pieces, affordable prices – inspired by the event that ceased to exist after 17 years in Eivissa. Meanwhile, it took place four times already, with increasing acceptance.

In addition to the regular events, we held thematic exhibitions whenever the opportunity arose: in 2014 the photographic exhibition Stray Lights in the exhibition hall of the Consell, sa nostra sala and in 2016 the group show Joint Venture in the Sala Walter Benjamin in Sa Punta des Molí, Sant Antoni. Unfortunately, the 2nd edition of the sculptors’ workshop Escultores en vivo announced for 2015 where sculptures are created in the public and under the eyes of visitors was cancelled (the first took place in 2012 with the support of the Art Club). To celebrate the Art Club’s anniversary the Club Diario has offered a retrospective of the highlights of 15 years scheduled for September 26 to October 11.

His designs – all single pieces – are works of art that, as he says, “want to fill a gap in daily life where stereotypes have cancelled out imagination”. From childhood, my talent and interest in the creative and pictorial has shown. My personal mascot is the “Golden Disc”, which stands for health, happiness and wealth and which I like depicting in my paintings of inner perceptions. I preferably paint with acrylic on canvas. No busco la belleza estética; más bien busco los mensajes que a través de la pintura afloran del subconsciente. Nunca sé lo que voy a pintar, sólo sigo las formas que surgen y encuentro relación entre los elementos. rom childhood I was aware that I am an artist in body and soul. Ever since I can hold a pen, I paint. As an autodidact I have tried out many different techniques and subjects, but my true love applies to images with a deeper sense. They appeal to the heart of people and give them fresh energy and confidence. Since 2012 I have lived in Ibiza and my life on this fantastic island has given my pictures also a more intensive dimension. Bright colours, spiritual symbols and the joy of life are my trademark. arie E. Ebbesen nació en 1923 en Beckenham, en el Reino Unido. Criada por su padre inglés, finalmente se reunió con su madre en Noruega después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial y se casó con un noruego. Sus primeros estudios de arte formal comenzaron en la Escuela Central de Arte de Birmingham. Ella pasó a la escuela estatal noruega del arte en Oslo, y más adelante cuando ella se trasladó a Francia en 1964, al Chaumière Grande en París. Ella vino a Ibiza por primera vez en 1965, inspirada por su hermano el artista Ferdinand Finne, y compró una finca en la vieja carretera de Santa Eulalia del Río a Ibiza. Su forma de arte inicial fue minimalista y abstracta inspirada por el arte y la filosofía Tantra. Luego se volvió hacia el figurativo, inspirado por Francis Bacon, a modo de retratos y cuerpos humanos con un estilo suelto, libre y sensual. arie E. Ebbesen was born in 1923 in Beckenham, in the United Kingdom. Raised by her English father, she eventually reunited with her Norwegian mother in Norway after World War II and married a Norwegian. Her first formal art studies began at the Central School of Art in Birmingham. She went on to the Norwegian State School of Art in Oslo, and later when she moved to France in 1964, to the Grande Chaumière in Paris. She came to Ibiza for the first time in 1965, inspired by her brother the artist Ferdinand Finne, and bought a finca on the old road from Santa Eulalia del Rio to Ibiza. Her initial artform was minimalistic and abstract inspired by the Tantra art and philosophy. She then turned to the figurative, inspired by Francis Bacon, in way of portraits and human bodies with a loose, free and sensuous style. From there she went on to painting landscapes which became her constant until the end of her life. This period was largely inspired by her surroundings at her country home in South-west of France, and later by the Ibizan ones when she returned to the island in 2003. Her first exhibition was in a group in Oslo in 1963. It was soon followed by exhibitions in Cahors (France), Drøbak (Norway), Ibiza, Paris, New York and other cities in the US. One of her graphic

She would just make “a quick sketching and catch the light with watercolours” and then add her personal fantasy and inspiration in her atelier. From 2007 to 2013 she participated in the RUTA DEL ARTE with an array of her paintings of Ibiza’s landscape. 2007 and 2011 she held exhibitions at the rural hotel Atzaró. She died on September 4, 2016 on Ibiza, surrounded by her large family and many friends. We are sorry to have lost an engaged proponent of the ArtClub’s initiatives, in particular the RUTA DEL ARTE. oy una artista gallega que lleva ya ocho años en esta isla. Obtuve mi Licenciatura en Bellas Artes en la Universidade de Vigo en la rama de Grabado, Pintura y Fotografía aunque en lo que más me he desarrollado siempre ha sido en la pintura. En mis pinturas el fondo y la figura siempre se funden por medio de formas orgánicas y dinámicas que lo convierten en un todo. Mis obras pueden ser sencillamente formas o incluir alguna figura que casi siempre es femenina, evocando mujeres que pertenecen a mitologías ya olvidadas.

am a Galician artist who settled on the island eight years ago. I obtained my graduation in Fine Arts from the University of Vigo in Engraving, Painting and Photography though I always developed painting in the first place. In my paintings, the background always melts with the figure by way of dynamic and organic forms that convert the different elements into a whole. My pieces may be almost abstract forms only or include some figure which almost always is feminine recalling women from long forgotten mythologies.

othar Schliemann nació en 1936 en Colonia. Después de terminar el aprendizaje de diseñador gráfico atendió durante cuatro años, hasta 1960, la Werkkunstschule en Colonia. Después trabajó como ilustrador hasta 1965 para la emisora WDR y la revista mensual satírica Pardon. Su interés en la isla balear de Ibiza fue despertado por el conocimiento del pintor Erwin Bechtold. En 1963 visitó Ibiza por primera vez y estaba fascinado por el hermoso paisaje salvaje y gente amigable. Ibiza ya se mostraba muy cosmopolita y él estaba impresionado por la aceptación y la tolerancia mutua. En 1965 se trasladó a Ibiza y al final tuvo mucho tiempo para pintar. Desde entonces, vivió como artista in-

dependiente en Ibiza. Aquí él convierte sus observaciones en pinturas sin idealización. La concepción de su pintura fue caracterizada como feroz y abierto, parecido al Kokoschka tardío, a Baselitz o Lüpertz, por el director de la Kunsthalle Kiel, Prof. Dr. Jensen. Expuso principalmente en Alemania, y prefirió organizar sus muestras en privado. En 2011, participó en la RUTA DEL ARTE. Una exposición retrospectiva de su obra esta en preparación en Berlín este año. Lamentamos la pérdida de un destacado artista firmemente arraigado en la isla durante más de 50 años que se había convertido en una parte esencial de la comunidad artística de la isla. othar Schliemann was born in 1936 in Cologne. After completing his apprenticeship of graphic design, he attended the Werkkunstschule in Cologne for four years, until 1960. He then worked as an illustrator for the broadcast station WDR and the satirical monthly magazine Pardon until 1965. His interest in the Balearic island of Ibiza was awakened by the acquaintance with the painter Erwin Bechtold. In 1963 he visited Ibiza for the first time and was fascinated by the beautiful wild landscape and the friendly inhabitants. Ibiza was already very cosmopolitan at the time and he was impressed by mutual acceptance and tolerance. In 1965 he moved to Ibiza and finally had a lot of time to paint. Since then, he has lived as a freelance artist on Ibiza. Here he converted his observations into paintings. His approach was characterised as rampant and open, but without idealisation, comparable to the late Kokoschka, to Baselitz or LĂźpertz, according to the director of the Kunsthalle Kiel, Prof. Dr. Jensen. He exhibited mainly in Germany, and preferred to organise his shows privately. In 2011, he participated in the RUTA DEL ARTE.

EL ARTE DE REPRODUCIR EL ARTE

Originales, Copias, Reproducciones, Ediciones He pensado que era interesante investigar en estos temas dado que es aveces poca la información que tienen los amantes del arte a la hora de catalogar, diferenciar y valorar una obra. ¿Es una obra única.? ¿Está firmada? Si es una copia, un grabado, una reproducción: ¿Está numerada? ¿Se puede copiar? Este debate se actualiza hoy en día debido al surgimiento, la proliferación y la supremacía de las impresiones digitales de extraordinaria calidad. Antes de la fotografía la única forma de reproducir una imagen era a través de alguna de las técnicas clásicas de grabado: Xilografía, Aguafuerte, Litografía y otras, llamadas todas: “Técnicas de Reproducción”. Las copias así producidas se consideraban “obras menores” especialmente porque no estaban firmadas ni tenían ningún tipo de información de su autoría. Es recién en el siglo XV cuando se empieza a identificar al autor por pequeños anagramas que estos imprimían a modo de firma. Pero todavía entonces no había una distinción clara entre un original, una edición o una copia. Los artistas no se preocupaban de firmar las obras. Términos como originalidad o autenticidad no eran cuestionados y los tirajes de los grabados eran ilimitados. Fue en el Renacimiento, cuando el coleccionismo empieza a cobrar importancia y los aficionados empiezan a preocuparse por identificar adecuadamente obras y autores. La primera reclamación que registra la historia sobre derechos de autor y propiedad intelectual es la demanda que Alberto Durero hizo a Marcantonio Raimondi, que fue el primer impresor de grabados en serie, por editar sin autorización un grabado suyo de 1504. Hacia 1880 debido al desarrollo de la reproducción fotomecánica, los grabadores empiezan a firmar sus trabajos y a numerar cada uno de los ejemplares. Esto se hace a lápiz, que se mantiene inalterable al paso del tiempo. Se escribe abajo, poniendo la numeración a la izquierda, el título al centro y la firma y la fecha a la derecha. Esto se hace así por motivos comerciales. La numeración se escribe como una fracción en la que el numerador es el número de la copia y el denominador el total de la edición, Ej.: 14 / 200 ( copia 14 de 200 ejemplares )

El artista da fe de toda la información con su firma. Fueron los artistas Toulouse Lautrec y Whistler los primeros en firmar de su puño y letra unas ediciones controladas. A principios del siglo XX se hace evidente la necesidad de unificar las distintas opiniones y de establecer unas normas universales para la correcta firma e identificación de las diversas formas de arte e impresión. En 1937 durante el Congreso Internacional de Grabado en Paris se discute y se intenta delimitar las definiciones respecto a la autoría de la obra original y de las copias. Será durante el Tercer Congreso Internacional de Arte celebrado en Viena en 1960 cuando se llega a definiciones concretas respecto de estas y otras materias. En este congreso se determina entre otras cosas que: -Es la firma del creador la que autentifica la obra. -Para considerar una obra como original: la matriz debe ser realizada por el propio artista. Aunque éste puede delegar el proceso de impresión a un técnico especializado en impresiones artísticas. -Se determinan las normas para la numeración de las obras y la evolución de su matriz original. -Los grabados no deberían ser reproducciones de otras obras de arte. -Se identifican las diversas etapas del proceso de creación y se consolidan ideas como: “Bon a tirer” ( válido para imprimir ), que corresponde a una prueba, pero firmada por el artista. Estas etapas son: Pruebas de Estado P/E: En esta primera tirada aún pueden hacerse correcciones en la matriz. Puede haber: P/E I, P/E II, P/E III; Etc. Son impresiones únicas y tienen gran valor para los coleccionistas. Pruebas de Taller P/T: Estas se hacen para comprobar los ajustes de la prensa y el comportamiento del papel y las tintas.. El artista las firma sólo con sus iniciales. Pruebas de Artista P/A: Estas son un 10% de la edición y se reservan para que el autor las comercialice por su cuenta. Tambien EA: Epreuve d’ Artiste. Se usan números romanos Ej.;: II / III. Pruebas de Impresor P/I: Es tradición no escrita que corresponda al impresor. La cantidad de estas se decide entre impresor y editor. Prueba Final P/F. Bon a Tirer ,”Buena para la tirada” Una sola prueba. Modelo para el tiraje definitivo. Firmada por el artista, no lleva

numeración. Pruebas Fuera de Comercio P/FC: Son un 5% del total del tiraje y van firmadas y numeradas por el artista. En Francés: H/C: Hors Comerse y en Inglés: E/C Exhibition Copy. Se utilizan números romanos. Tiraje Definitivo: Es la edición numerada puesta en el mercado. Prueba de Anulación: Esta es la última impresión, firmada por el artista. Anulación de Matriz: Es la destrucción física de las matrices para que no se puedan realizar nuevas impresiones de ese grabado. El III Congreso de Venecia se celebró en 1991. En esta oportunidad se suman al campo del grabado tradicional nuevas técnicas de impresión y nuevos soportes. En 1996 empieza a aceptarse como válidos la impresión offset y las imágenes digitales. A partir de aquí se multiplican las posibilidades para la elaboración de moldes o matrices, la transferencia de imágenes y el añadido de detalles que la transformen en una obra postproducida. Uno de los puntos que deberá quedar en claro es si el autor de la imagen debe ser el creador de todo el proceso. Por ejemplo: si estaría permitido usar fotos de otro autor en un fotomontaje. Andy Warhol utilizó unas fotos de Patricia Caulfield en su famosa serie de serigrafías “Flowers”. Este es un tema que aún está pendiente de resolver.

thought that it was interesting to investigate these subjects since art lovers sometimes know little about cataloging, differentiating and valuing a work. Is it a unique piece? Is it signed? If it is a copy, an engraving, a reproduction: Is it numbered? Can you copy it? This debate is being updated today due to the emergence, proliferation and supremacy of digital prints of extraordinary quality. Before photography, the only way to reproduce an image was through some of the classic techniques of engraving: Woodcut, Etching, Lithography and others, all called "Reproduction Techniques". The copies thus produced were considered "minor works" especially since they were not signed or had any information of their authorship. It is only in the fifteenth century when the author begins to be identified by small anagrams that they printed as a signature. But even then there was no clear distinction between an original, an edition or a copy. The artists did not bother signing the works. Terms such as originality or authenticity were unquestioned and the print runs were unlimited. It was in the Renaissance, when collecting began to gain importance and fans began to worry about properly identifying works and authors. The first claim that records the history on copyright and intellectual property is the complaint that Albrecht DĂźrer made to Marcantonio Raimondi, who was the first printer of serial prints, to have edited a print of his of 1504 without authorization. Towards 1880 due to the development of the photomechanical reproduction, the engravers begin to sign their works and to number each copy. This is done in pencil, which remains unchanged over time. It is written down, putting the numbering on the left, the title in the center and the signature and the date on the right. This is done for commercial reasons. Numbering is written as a fraction in which the numerator is the number of the copy and the denominator the total of the edition, eg: 14/200 (copy 14 of 200 copies) The artist gives faith of all the information with his signature. The artists Toulouse Lautrec and Whistler were the first to sign a controlled edition.

At the beginning of the twentieth century, the need became evident to unify different opinions and establish universal norms for the correct signature and identification of the various forms of art and printing . In 1937, during the International Congress of Engraving in Paris, the definitions concerning the authorship of the original work and the copies are discussed and attempted. It was during the Third International Congress of Art held in Vienna in 1960 when concrete definitions regarding these and other subjects were reached. This congress determined among other things that: - It is the signature of the creator that authenticates the work. - To consider a work as original: the matrix must be made by the artist himself. Although he can delegate the printing process to a technician who specializes in artistic prints. - The rules for the numbering of works and the evolution of their original matrix are determined. - The engravings should not be reproductions of other works of art. - Identify the various stages of the creation process and consolidate ideas such as: "Bon a tirer" (valid for print), which corresponds to a proof, but signed by the artist. The steps are: State Proofs P/E: In this first run corrections can still be made in the matrix. There may be: P/E I, P/E II, P/E III etc. They are unique prints and have great value for collectors. Workshop Proofs P/T: These are done to

Bon a Tirer â&#x20AC;&#x201C; "Good for the roll". A single test. Model for the final drawing. Signed by the artist, no numbering. Proofs Out of Trade P/FC: They are 5% of the total print run and are signed and numbered by the artist. In French: H/C: Hors Comerse and in English: E/C Exhibition Copy. Roman numerals are used. Final Cut is the numbered edition put on the market. Proof of Annulment: This is the last impression, signed by the artist. Matrix cancellation refers to the physical destruction of the matrices so that new impressions of that engraving can not be made. The Third Congress of Venice was held in 1991. On this occasion new printing techniques and new supports are added to the field of traditional engraving. In 1996, offset printing and digital images began to be accepted as valid. From here the possibilities multiply, be it for the elaboration of molds or matrices, the transfer of images and the addition of details that transform it into a post-produced work . One of the points that must be clear is whether the author of the image should be the creator of the whole process. For example: if it would be allowed to use photos of another author in a photomontage. Andy Warhol used photos of Patricia Caulfield in his

Varios vaciados son reconocidos como "originales" para hasta doce piezas fundidas, independientemente de si el artista estaba vivo en el momento de su fabricación. Los vaciados póstumos tomados de los yesos del artista pueden ser llamados originales por esta definición aunque las ediciones de la vida son preferidas por los eruditos, los colectores, los curadores y los críticos. Las esculturas de cera, arcilla y yeso se consideran versiones preliminares del bronce que entonces se toman por el original. Un bronce hecho de un bronce acabado es una copia del original. Una obra originalmente tallada en madera o piedra y fundida póstumamente en bronce es considerada como poco ética. Algunos expertos rechazan incluso el vaciado póstumo legalizado como inauténtico. Debe haber divulgación completa de la información pertinente por los responsables de la fundición de bronces. Cada vaciado debe tener información sobre la fecha, la fundición, el tamaño de la edición, y si se trata de una ampliación, surmoulage o cambio en el medio final utilizado por el artista. En ese momento, no hay normas firmemente establecidas para la escultura digitalmente reproducible. En general la reproducción con impresoras 3D sigue el mismo procedimiento de firmar y numerar las piezas y certificar que no se realizaran más copias. Hoy, a comienzos del siglo XXI y debido a la excelente calidad de las reproducciones digitales ciertos museos han optado por reemplazar algunos de los originales expuestos por copias impresas con esta tecnología. En casos como el de la Mona Lisa en el Louvre, donde grandes multitudes acuden con sus teléfonos o cámaras para tratar de fotografiar el cuadro de Leonardo Da Vinci que solo tendrán cerca por pocos minutos, podría ser una opción exponer varias reproducciones, las que se podría observar de mas cerca, con mas detalle y por mas tiempo. La Fundación Getty en el Museo Albertina de Viena, Austria expone el famoso dibujo de Alberto Durero: “Liebre Joven” de 1502. La imagen que el publico contempla es la original solo 3 meses al año. Durante los demás meses se reemplaza por una copia. Esto se hace así por razones de conservación. Las obras impresas en papel son muy sensibles a la luz y a la humedad y un soporte tan frágil requiere especiales cuidados para impedir que se desintegre por el paso del tiempo. Lo mismo sucede con los excelentes dibujos de Egon Schiele en el Museo Leopold de Viena, que también son reemplazados por reproducciones durante largos periodos de tiempo.

Y otro tanto ocurre en en el museo Magritte de Bruselas con dibujos y documentos personales del gran surrealista belga. No siempre se advierte al público de este reemplazo y esto ha provocado quejas de los visitantes que se sienten engañados por haber visto una copia en lugar de un original. Esto nos lleva a considerar la opinión del filósofo alemán Walter Benjamín respecto de la existencia de un aura en la obra de arte. De su singularidad y su realidad material única e irrepetible. El análisis de lo material y lo espiritual en el Arte es tema para muchas páginas. Desde 2012 el sitio Google Art Proyect expone mas de 30 mil reproducciones en alta resolución pertenecientes a mas de 150 museos del mundo. Estas se pueden ampliar en pantalla para examinar detalles y pinceladas de una forma imposible hasta ahora. Protección de las Imágenes Digitales. Cualquier artista que publique, venda o transfiera su trabajo, fotos o imágenes en formato digital conoce los riesgos de que se haga caso omiso del copyright, de ser copiado o pirateado. Este fenómeno que ha afectado gravemente a la industria musical por la copia y el robo de música y videos, se extiende ahora al arte visual. Esto se intenta evitar limitando la utilidad de las imágenes distribuidas electrónicamente. Una forma es que estas sean de un tamaño tan pequeño que sólo sirvan para verse en la pantalla. Otra es estampándoles una marca de agua que las identifique y que sea difícil de eliminar. De esta forma se consigue que no valga la pena el trabajo de retocarlas. La combinación de ambos métodos es efectiva y se debería de usar mas extensamente.

Un método mas sofisticado es una marca invisible o un código encriptado que no estropee la apariencia de la imagen, pero que pueda ser leído por un software de detección. Este envía un código legible que alerta de la propiedad intelectual de la misma y contacta con el artista para negociar la venta. Digimarc y SureSign son algunas de las compañías que producen estos códigos de detección y encriptación. Ambos funcionan como un plugin para Photoshop y para tener acceso a ellos hay que pagar una cuota anual. Para la utilización de la imagen el cliente tendrá que pedir al artista un código secreto e intransferible. Hay diferentes tipos de licencias para proteger los derechos de autor y la propiedad intelectual. Ya que un artista que vende una obra, conserva todos los derechos de autor en la obra, a menos que la venta especifique explicitamente que el artista ha transferido los derechos de autor al comprador. -La licencia más utilizada que subraya los derechos de autor es el Copyright: Sólo se puede reproducir la obra pagando una cuota al autor. -Copyleft: Se autoriza el uso, copia y distribución siempre que se nombre al autor. -Flickr, Facebook, 500px, Etc. tienen sus propias políticas respecto a las fotos que se suban en ellos. -Se recomienda nunca compartir archivos en Raw. Son los negativos digitales de las fotos. -Las imágenes pueden registrarse gratis en “Safe Creative” -En la web del autor debe evitarse la opción Paint Screen o Imprimir Pantalla. -Para el uso comercial de fotos en las que salgan personas reconocibles se debe respetar el derecho a la propia imagen. Se deberá firmar una autorización: “Cesión de derechos de imagen”. En el caso de niños la firmarán los padres o tutores. -Actualmente, después de 70 años de la muerte del autor, su obra puede ser reproducida y utilizada sin ningún tipo de royalties. La tecnología no para de progresar, ya se usaron en el siglo pasado los rayos X para analizar y autentificar las obras maestras de los grandes genios de la pintura. También el láser se ha utilizado en la restauración de cuadros antiguos. No faltan hoy en día grupos y movimientos que proponen abolir todo tipo de registros y patentes para que la creatividad del hombre sea patrimonio de la humanidad. In sculpture things get more complicated as it may entail creation by a single artist, an artist collaborating with expert craftspeople, or an artist realising the conceived sculpture without direct involvement in the production. Within the practice of sculpture, it is common to produce a single sculpture in a limited, numbered edition of identical multiples. Multiple casts are recognised as “original” for up to twelve castings, regardless of whether the artist was alive at the time of their making. Posthumous castings taken from the artist’s plasters may be called originals by this definition although lifetime editions are preferred by scholars, collectors, curators, and critics. The wax, clay, and plaster sculptures are viewed as preliminary versions of the bronze that then is considered the original. A bronze made from a finished bronze is a copy of the original. A work originally carved in wood or stone and posthumously cast in bronze is considered as unethical. Some experts reject even legalised posthumous casting as inauthentic. There must be full disclosure of pertinent information by those responsible for casting bronzes. Each cast must have information as to date, foundry, size of the edition, and whether it is an enlargement, surmoulage, or change in the final medium used by the artist. At the time, there are no firmly established standards for digitally reproducible sculpture. In general, the reproduction with 3D printers follows the same procedure of signing and numbering the pieces and certifying that no more copies were made. Today, at the beginning of the 21st century and due to the excellent quality of digital reproductions, certain museums have opted to replace some of the originals exposed by hard copies with this technology. In cases like the Mona Lisa in the Louvre, where large crowds come with their phones or cameras trying to photograph the Leonardo da Vinci painting that will only be around for a few minutes, it could be an option to exhibit several reproductions, you could observe more closely, in more detail and for more time. The Getty Foundation at the Albertina Museum in Vienna, Austria features the famous drawing by Albrecht Dürer: "Young Hare" from 1502. The image that the public contemplates is the original only 3 months a year. During the other months it is replaced by a copy. This is done for conservation reasons. The works printed on paper are very sensitive to light and moisture and a support so fragile requires special care to prevent it from disintegrating over time.

The same is true of the excellent drawings of Egon Schiele at the Leopold Museum in Vienna, which are also replaced by reproductions for long periods of time.

And the same happens in the Magritte museum in Brussels with drawings and personal documents of the great Belgian surrealist. This sends a readable code that alerts to the intellectual property of the same and contacts the artist to negotiate the sale. Digimarc and SureSign are some of the companies that produce these detection and encryption codes. Both work as a plugin for Photoshop and to have access to them you have to pay an annual fee. For the use of the image the client will have to ask the artist for a secret and non-transferable code. There are different types of licenses to protect copyrights and intellectual property. For an artist who sells a work retains all copyright rights in the work unless the sale specifies explicitly that the artist has transferred copyright rights to the purchaser. -The most common license underlining the author's rights is Copyright: The work can only be reproduced by paying a fee to the author. - Copyleft: The use, copying and distribution is authorized whenever the author is named. - Flickr, Facebook, 500px, Etc. have their own policies regarding the photos that are uploaded on them. - It is never recommended to share files in Raw. They are the digital negatives of the photos. - The images can be registered for free in "Safe Creative". - On the author's website the options 'Paint Screen' or 'Print Screen' should be avoided. - For the commercial use of photos in which people are recognizable the right to the own image must be respected. An authorization must be signed – "Transfer of image rights". In the case of children it must be signed by parents or guardians. - At the moment, 70 years after the death of the author, his work can be reproduced and used without any royalties. Technology does not stop progressing, already in the last century x-rays were used to analyze and authenticate the masterpieces of the great geniuses of painting. Visual artist in the fields of photography and film making which he has always done as a passion and as a pursuit of knowledge with a deep interest in documentary projects. After graduating in psychology in 2005 writing a thesis on visual perception he begins working on reportage and portrait. His latest project "La Isla" combines photography and video in an ongoing five part photography work that are to become books and an experimental Video-Art finished in 2015. Seventy performers participated, from eighteen different countries and a vast variety of professions. His work is being exposed in Italy, Spain, France, Portugal, Russia, Holland, Mozambique and USA. He is currently based in Ibiza, Spain, working in Europe and Asia. He is always looking for new projects and collaborations in the creative field.

acido y criado en la región de Sauerland, Wolfgang acabó sus estudios en la renombrada escuela alemana de artes aplicadas de Wuppertal, Alemania, diplomado en diseño gráfico. Al principio de su carrera trabajó en el diseño y se convirtió en director de arte en Colonia.

Durante los años siguientes, fundó tres exitosas agencias de diseño y comunicación. En 2004 se retiró para emprender estudios de arte y ha presentado su trabajo en varias exposiciones. En los últimos años, se ha centrado en la fotografía y en disfrutar del tiempo entre Ibiza y Colonia.

orn and brought up in the Sauerland region, Wolfgang left the renowned German school of applied arts in Wuppertal, Germany, with a diploma in graphic design. Early in his career he worked in layout and became an art director in Cologne.

Over the next few years he founded three successful design and communication agencies and in 2004 he retired to begin his study of art and has presented his work in various exhibitions. In recent years, his focus has been on photography and enjoying time between Ibiza and Cologne.

e inició muy joven en el mundo de la fotografía. A los 13 años, se compró una cámara SLR y tomó un poco de experiencia con la luz y el contraste. Tras su formación en el campo de la ingeniería eléctrica, dejó la cámara de lado y se dedicó al estudio de la informática. En 2005 descubrió Ibiza y asimismo su amor por la fotografía. Casi olvidada la experiencia de la fotografía analógica, la convierte en una forma moderna y digital por mantener el atractivo de las cámaras de película. Tras unos experimentos iniciales en procesamiento de imágenes digitales, ahora se centra en el desarrollo de imágenes por ordenador donde simula las antiguas técnicas de amplificación analógica del laboratorio.

After his training in the area of Electric Engineering he lay his camera aside and dedicated himself to computer science. In 2005 he discovered Ibiza for himself and likewise rekindled his long forgotten interest in photography. Transposing his experience in analogous photography into modern digital techniques, he manages to capture the charm of analogous photography. After initial experiments in image processing, he now focuses on the development of images on his computer simulating old techniques of analogous magnification in a lab. Hace unos años también se dedica a tallar ‘varitas mágicas’. Hechas de pino de la isla o de madera de deriva, son esculturas eróticas lisas de entre 40 y 60 cm de altura, únicas y firmadas que se pueden adquirir del artista.

EBANISTERÍA EN LA ESCUELA DE ARTE DE IBIZA

a ebanistería es una rama específica dentro de todo el conjunto de oficios vinculados a la creación y producción mediante el lenguaje propio de la madera. En este oficio se producen muebles elaborados en los que, tanto en su diseño, como en su acabado, está presente un producto de notable calidad artística, donde el componente artesanal le confiere un carácter único. El Ciclo Formativo de Ebanistería Artística se imparte en la Escuela de Arte de Ibiza desde los años 40 del siglo XX. Muchos han sido los alumnos que se han formado en nuestros talleres y que han puesto en práctica los conocimientos adquiridos en su posterior incorporación al mercado laboral, a lo largo de estos años, contribuyendo al crecimiento y desarrollo de la isla, trabajando en empresas del sector o creando la suya propia. Algunos de estos alumnos han participado en equipos de trabajo dedicados a la restauración y conservación del patrimonio de Ibiza. En estos equipos el artesano ebanista colabora con el conservador restaurador en la identificación de los daños y en la aplicación de las técnicas y procedimientos más apropiados para la conservación de las obras creadas en madera, como por ejemplo retablos de iglesias, artesonados y esculturas. Los estudios de ebanistería duran dos años académicos. Entre las diferentes materias que se imparten está el dibujo artístico, dibujo técnico, historia del mueble, volumen, etc. Siendo la asignatura de taller la materia troncal que más horas ocupa. Los trabajos que realizan los alumnos en taller son muy variados. Desde la preparación y el procesado de la madera, realización de diferentes técnicas de ensamblaje, construcción de muebles de diferentes estilos, talla ornamental aplicada al mueble, marquetería artística, torneado de la madera, así como múltiples técnicas de acabados. El taller de ebanistería también colabora con organismos oficiales como el Consell Insular, Ayuntamientos, Parroquias, colegios y asociaciones. Estas colaboraciones consisten en encargos que reciben los alumnos, como por ejemplo: construir trampas para serpientes, crear una peana de época para imaginería religiosa, carteles para escuelas,

mobiliario tradicional, etc. Con estos encargos los alumnos se aproximan a las necesidades y a la realidad del mundo profesional mientras están cursando sus estudios Al finalizar estos dos cursos los alumnos realizan un periodo de prácticas en empresa. Actualmente estas prácticas pueden ser desarrolladas tanto en talleres profesionales de Ibiza como en el extranjero, dentro del Plan Europeo de Intercambio Erasmus. En la actualidad, la continuidad de estos estudios están pasando momentos de incertidumbre en nuestra isla. Debido a la aplicación de un Real Decreto del año 2015, el ciclo formativo deja de ser de grado medio para pasar a grado superior, en todo el conjunto del estado español. Lo que en un principio tendría que ser a priori una buena noticia, no lo es tanto cuando en el resto de escuelas de España donde se ofertan estos estudios, esta transición se ha realizado de forma natural y sin problemas, y en cambio en las Islas Baleares, se nos requieren una serie de acciones y condiciones, que dejan la posible implantación del grado superior en el aire, al menos de momento. approach the needs and the reality of the professional world while they are pursuing their studies. At the end of these two courses, the students take a practical internship. At the moment these practices can be developed in professional workshops of Ibiza as well as abroad, within the European Plan of the Erasmus Exchange. At present, the continuity of these studies are going through moments of uncertainty in our island. Due to the application of a Royal Decree of year 2015, the training cycle stops being of middle degree to pass to higher degree, in the whole of Spain. What in the beginning would have been a priori good news, is not when in the rest of the schools in Spain where these studies are offered, this transition has been made naturally and without problems. Instead in the Balearic Islands, a series of actions and conditions are required, which leave the possible implementation of the higher degree in the air, at least for now. CABINETMAKING AT THE ART SCHOOL OF IBIZA

abinetmaking is a specific branch within the whole set of trades linked to the creation and production through the language of wood. In this office, elaborate furniture is produced in which, in its design and finish, there is a product of remarkable artistic quality, where the handicraft component gives it a unique character. The Artistic Cabinet Formation Cycle has been taught at the Ibiza Art School since the 1940s. Many students have graduated in our workshops and have put into practice the knowledge acquired in their subsequent incorporation into the labor market, over the years, contributing to the growth and development of the island, working in companies in the sector or creating their own. Some of these students have participated in work teams dedicated to the restoration and conservation of Ibiza's heritage. In these teams, the woodworker cooperates with the conservator in the identification of damages and in the application of the most appropriate techniques and procedures for the preservation of works created in wood, such as church altarpieces, coffered ceilings and sculptures. Cabinet studies last for two academic years. Among the different subjects that are taught are the artistic drawing, technical drawing, history of furniture, volume, etc. Being the subject of the workshop the core subject that occupies most hours. The work done by students in a workshop is very varied. From the preparation and processing of the wood, realization of different techniques of assembly, construction of furniture of different styles, ornamental carving applied to the furniture, artistic marquetry, turning of the wood, as well as multiple techniques of finishes. The woodworking workshop also collaborates with official bodies such as the Insular Council, Town Halls, Parishes, schools and associations. These collaborations consist of commissions that the students receive, such as: building snake traps, creating a stand for religious imagery adapted to the period, posters for schools, traditional furniture, etc. With these assignments the students

anto la pintura como la escultura me atrajeron desde temprana edad, por lo que mis padres decidieron llevarme a la Escuela de Artes y Oficios, donde hice dibujo artístico y estudié Diseño de interiores. A través de Joan Beia, director de la escuela, comencé a introducirme en el mundo de la escultura. Cuando me presentó al escultor Jesús Ceballos, es cuando empecé realmente a hacer escultura profesionalmente, sobre todo en bronce y fibra de vidrio. Posteriormente conocí a Andrés Lasanta, que como gran profesional que es me ayudó perfeccionar mi estilo. En mis trabajos como obra publica destacan "Homenaje al Ca Eivissenc" para el Consell de Eivissa y "Familia de podencos" en S'Alamera de Santa Eulària. Lo que me apasiona de la escultura, es que me permite centrarme en la figura que quiero representar, me olvido de elementos superfluos, y me concentro en lo que realmente me interesa, la ocupación del volumen en el espacio.

oth painting and sculpture attracted me from an early age, so my parents decided to take me to Ibiza's Arts and Crafts School, where I learned artistic drawing and studied Interior Design. Through Joan Beia, director of the School, I was introduced to the world of sculpture when he presented me to the sculptor Jesus Ceballos. That's when I really started to do sculpture in a professional way, especially in bronze and fibreglass. Later I met Andres Lasanta, who - as the great professional that he is - helped me to perfect my style . Of the sculptures on public ground I would highlight "Tribute to the Ca Eivissenc" for the Consell de Eivissa and "Familia de podencos" on S'Alamera in Santa Eulària. I'm passionate about sculpture, which allows me to focus on the figure I want to represent, I forget superfluous elements and concentrate on what really interests me: the occupation of volume in space.

he sculpture studio Paulo Viheira started in Ibiza at the end of 1988 with the vocation to develop, execute and promote the artist's work. The production of the work has as its basic material "cedar wood" combined with all types of recycled materials, from large murals to infinite three-dimensional sculptures, being able to be exposed both in the exterior and in the interior, thus forming the perfect union between The natural elements of the environment. The sculptures and paintings of the artist lead us to an encounter between poetry combined with the balance between the three vital elements: water, earth and air. The seal that identifies the author is undoubtedly the harmony of his work which transports us to a figurative world, colorist and infinite visual sensations.

l taller de esculturas Paulo Viheira, nace en Ibiza a finales del año 1988 con la vocación de desarrollar, ejecutar y promover la obra del artista. La producción de la obra tiene como materia básica la “madera de cedro” combinada con todo tipo de materiales reciclados, logrando desde grandes murales hasta infinitas esculturas tridimensionales, pudiendo ser expuestas tanto en el exterior como en el interior, formando así la unión perfecta entre los elementos naturales del entorno. Las esculturas y pinturas del artista nos llevan a un encuentro entre la poesía combinada con el equilibrio entre los tres elementos vitales: agua, tierra y aire. El sello que identifica el autor es sin duda la harmonía de su obra lo que nos transporta a un mundo figurativo, colorista y de infinitas sensaciones visuales.
