BOSTON CONSULTING GROUP (BCG)

ARCHITECTURE & INTERIOR PROJECT

During my time as an architecture student, I had the privilege of working on the BCG project. My primary role involved creating the ‘GFC’ for interior elements , working closely with architects Mr. Jignesh and Mr.Yash. This hands-on experience taught me the intricacies of interior design, emphasizing attention to detail and collaboration . The project not only enhanced my technical skills but also exposed me to real-world project dynamics, client interactions, and effective teamwork. Overall, it was a transformative experience that significantly contributed to my growth as an aspiring architect.

Interior design transforms spaces, shaping ambiance through Palette selection . Conversations with architects and vendors revealed Practical Design aspects . Experimenting with visuals for specific areas bridged creative concepts to on-site construction. This immersive experience highlighted the impact of Color and Texture choices on aesthetics and functionality, providing insights into the real-world dynamics of construction.

MANKIND R&D OFFICE BUILDING

ARCHITECTURE PROJECT

The Mankind Pharmaceutical Office Building project involves the design and development of a multi-functional structure comprising six lower floors dedicated to office workspaces and research labs . The upper floors are designated for rental purposes. The project aims to seamlessly integrate functionality with a consistent and professional aesthetic, aligning with the established standards and identity of Mankind Pharmaceutical.

MY ROLE AND OUTCOME :

In this project, I took a hands-on role in producing critical components such as GFC drawings and site development plans . This experience immersed me in the practicalities of municipal procedures , including area calculations . It also deepened my understanding of the hierarchical progression of drawing stages and the importance of a well-structured drawing set for clear and effective project execution.

I’ve strengthened my software skills through modeling tasks , enhancing efficiency in design. Additionally, I focused on the structural layout , extensively crosschecking elements like trusses, columns , beams and cantilevers elements. At some point i have made the prposed Interior Design plans which improves my Interior design principle. This hands-on experience has deepened my understanding of structural principles, bridging the gap between design aesthetics and practical application. Moving forward.

TOURIST FACILITATION

CENTER, DHOLAVIRA

Development of Sustainable and Responsible Tourist Destinations in Dholavira Under Swadesh Darshan 2.0

AIM & OBJECTIVES :

• To establish the status of Dholavira as the symbol of earlier civilisations of the world and showcase its contributions towards the evolution of human life and settlements through Sensitive tourism intervention.

• Developing different viewpoints for enhanced visitor experience.

• Promoting research and propagation of awareness of ancient civilisation.

KEY LEARNING

:

• As an intern architect, understanding the urban site context sensitized me to heritage conservation and tourist infrastructure. Learning design ethics and managing material quantities prepares me for real-world tender processes, enhancing my skills and understanding.

OLD CITY , SRINAGAR

The study area is the Old City of Srinagar, characterized by its dense urban fabric and rich heritage. This area holds significant cultural value, showcasing a variety of old heritage houses that reflect the region's historical architecture. The site is uniquely bordered by two water bodies, the River Jhelum and the Baba Demb wetland. The River Jhelum flows through the heart of the city, while Baba Demb, a wetland, contributes to the biodiversity and natural beauty, making the Old City a remarkable blend of cultural and natural heritage.

Opportunity

POMOTION

Along the Jhelum River edge , we have identified open spaces that can be used for s mall-scale community gatherings . We plan to revitalize old vacant houses , maintaining them and repurposing them to meet the city’s needs. Three old heritage structures have been selected for transformation into a conflictorium, museum, and art galleries to promote local culture and history. Additionally, we are promoting pedestrian-friendly streets to enhance accessibility and walkability in the area.

MASTER PLAN

Waterfront improvement is a major focus in urban design. In the Old City of Srinagar, many old houses have their backs facing the riverside , leading to neglect and poor maintenance of this area. This has resulted in significant garbage issues . Additionally, walking along the river is difficult due to infrastructural challenges .

To address these problems, a proposal for the Jhelum River edge development has been put forward. This project aims to promote walkability along the river and enhance the neglected area, making it more accessible and better maintained.

BUILDING FACADE GUIDELINE

URBAN FACADE

The old houses in Srinagar showcase the charm of vernacular architecture with their intricate facade designs and thoughtful use of materials . However, modern buildings often lack this visual connection to traditional Kashmiri architecture . In some modern streets, poorly designed compound walls can also contribute to flooding issues. To preserve the beauty of the old heritage structures, we are proposing Building Facade Guidelines . These guidelines aim to ensure new constructions harmonize with the traditional architectural style and prevent designs that detract from the historical aesthetic.

OLD HERITAGE STRUCTURES
NEW MODERN STRUCTUES

It is important to understand the needs of the city and its residents . We are providing spaces like jogging tracks and children’s parks, which are lacking due to the densely packed buildings . These spaces will act as buffer zones for the city, ensuring the wetland remains safe and actively engaged with people . This approach will help maintain a balance between flora and fauna, preserving the wetland while meeting the community’s needs.

Area of Interest

This project envisions a Tourist Facilitation Center at Dholavira, an ancient Harappan site in Gujarat, India, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located in the arid Kutch region, the design responds to two primary challenges: Acute water scarcity and Extreme heatwaves. The design approach merges the ancient wisdom of the Harappan civilization with modern sustainability, using principles of linearity, grids, and a strong relationship with nature. The material palette, dominated by locally sourced Kutch sandstone, ensures that the center remains rooted in the region's architectural heritage.

The center is designed to serve 600 tourists daily, offering exhibition spaces, recreational courtyards, informational centers, and accommodation. Key sustainable features include *rainwater harvesting* through an innovative water reservoir system, inspired by ancient Harappan water conservation techniques. Passive cooling strategies, such as courtyards, wind catchers, and thermal mass, ensure energy efficiency in the harsh climate. Solar panels and green roofs further enhance sustainability.

This center is more than just a tourist facility it is a space where the past and present converse. It integrates ancient techniques with modern solutions to create a self-sufficient, sustainable model that preserves heritage while providing contemporary comforts, contributing to responsible tourism and cultural education.
