GIRLS VARSITY SOCCER

Coaches: Mr. Kinsella and Mrs. Butler

Captains: Evelyn Croasmun & Lyann Noh

MVP: Harper Hawley

MIP: Iris Li

Record: 12-3

Coaches’ Award: Annabel Cohen

Blue Dog Award: Sofia Galindo Morfin & Paloma Orendain Suarez

Unsung Hero Award: Mila Guelfi

The 2024 Girls Soccer season kicked off with uncertainty, as only three players from last year’s squad - Towa Miyake ‘26, Evelyn Croasmun ‘26, and Lyann Noh ‘25 - returned to the field. With so many fresh faces, we weren’t sure what to expect. But from those first few practices, we could see the talent and determination emerging on this squad. The season quickly took off, winning our first 5 games by an impressive margin of 24 goals scored versus 9 goals against us. Though we suffered a tough loss on IMS’s home turf, we came back strong winning many more games throughout the season. At practice, the Team’s commitment to improving their skills and soccer IQ were evident. Learning to pass to “French Real Estate” helped us to spread the field and keep the ball moving. Two-touch and one-touch scrimmages quickly became a favorite drill building our creativity and teamwork. Congratulations to our award winners - MVP Harper Hawley ‘26 (who scored 29 goals this season!), Most Improved Player - Iris Li ‘26, Coaches Award winner Annabel Cohen ‘25, Blue Dog Award winners Sofia Galindo ’25 and Paloma Orendain ‘25 and our Unsung Hero Award to Mila Guelfi ‘25. We wish our Seniors - Annabel, Sofia, Mila, Alex, Lyann, and Paloma the best of luck as they hopefully continue to play soccer at the next level.

BOYS VARSITY SOCCER

Coaches: Messrs. Dyball and Kennedy

Captain: Thomas Ewing

MVP: Andres Sepulveda

MIP: Ryan Kim

Record: 10-3-1

Coaches’ Award: Jose Marron & Khalaf Abobakr Blue Dog Award: Nicolas Morales

The Boys’ Varsity Soccer Team capped off a strong season with a 10-3-1 record built on grit, skill, and true Team spirit. Captain Tom led the way with his calmness under pressure and unwavering dependability, setting the tone both on and off the field. Khalaf and Jose were dominant forces in the midfield, combining sharp ball-handling with relentless energy to control the tempo and create opportunities. Andres was a wall in goal, making crucial saves that kept us competitive in tight matches. Adrian was a steady presence on the left flank, contributing both defensively and offensively with confidence and precision. Miles was a constant threat up front, scoring key goals and keeping opposing defenses on their heels. Joaquin stood tall at center back, providing strength and

composure to our defensive line all season long. Among many memorable moments, two stood out: a thrilling 4-3 comeback win over Hotchkiss after trailing 3-1, and a hardfought 3-2 victory over a determined Taft team. It was a season full of heart, hustle, and unforgettable highlights.

VARSITY FIELD HOCKEY

Varsity Field Hockey had an incredible season, finishing with an almost perfect record of 11-1. The team was well-led by our two reliable Captains and experienced players, Maddie Conto and Mano Nagasaki. Throughout the season, we enjoyed warm weather, many scenic campus runs, and an astonishing number of offensive corners—14 in just one game! The Team displayed an unwavering commitment to hard work, consistently bringing a fierce competitive spirit and determination to every match.

As we look ahead, we will be saying farewell to six amazing Seniors: Abby D, Maddie C, Mano N, Brea K, Daisy X, and Victoria K. We wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors! Continue to shine on and off the field, and never stop playing the game you love!

VARSITY VOLLEYBALL

Coaches’ Award: Sharon Kim Raspberry Patch Queen: Andy Ko Best Backer Award: Romy Batzofin

1st Place Rick Spooner Volleyball Classic

Tournament MVP: Gabriela Barros

All -Tournament Team: Sharon Kim & Andy Ko

At the beginning of the 2024 season, the Varsity Volleyball Team started with just five (5) returning players - Gabby, Andy, Romy, Alice, and Lina. Approximately 40 more players came to tryouts, but at the end of the week, we settled on 18 players- nine (9) VII Form, six (6) VI Form, and three (3) V Form to hopefully continue to set us up for success. We heard many superstitions about the year after an undefeated season, and

none of them were good, but we proved them wrong! While true, we had to rebuild some and adjust a few positions, the Team showed up every day with fighting spirit and harmony or “toushi wa!” The fighting spirit that has been passed down from all the players before was especially prevalent on the day of the Rick Spooner Classic when we took 1st Place! Other than our classic chant, we continued some newer traditions, like glow volleyball and a day of diving for balloons. Other core memories were chair ball and every single win! The Team proved the superstitions to be false, and they are to be commended on a fabulous and fun season. Best of luck to our Seniors next year! Keep in touch and help us to bring back the Alumni Volleyball Game next year!

VARSITY FOOTBALL

Captains: David Arslanov, Cooper Bunce & Gunther Scheidt

Offensive MVP: Gunther Scheidt

Defensive MVP: David Arslanov

Offensive Lineman of the Year Award: Carter Minton

Defensive Lineman of the Year Award: Tommy Jiang

Peter Carriuolo ’74 Memorial Football Award: Cooper Bunce

What an unforgettable season it was for Rumsey Football! From our opening scrimmage at Taft, it was clear we had a special group—talented, hardworking, and determined to grow together. While our final record stands at 4-3, the numbers only tell part of the story. We faced early adversity, dropping our first three games—including two tough (and close) matchups against a strong AOF squad. But our Team showed incredible resilience, rallying to win our final four (4) games in a row and demonstrating remarkable growth and unity along the way.

This season was full of memorable moments and record-setting performances. One of my personal highlights was watching Beaux, Cooper, and Gunther each accomplish the rare feat of throwing for a touchdown, catching a touchdown pass, running for a touchdown, and kicking an extra point—an achievement that speaks volumes about their versatility and teamwork. To our Seniors, congratulations and thank you! Your leadership and commitment have left a lasting impact on this program. As you move on to new fields, know that you’ve set the stage for continued success. With a strong core of returning starters and a talented group of up-and-coming players. the future of Rumsey Football is bright. Thank you all for an amazing season! To our returners next year–best of luck and Go Blue Dogs!

BLUE DOG BIKES

MIP: William Brown

The Crank Award: Charlotte Green & Xinxin Zhou

Coaches’ Award: Arjun Pillai

Blue Dog Award: Rika Kakamu

1st Place Housatonic Mountain Biking League Junior Champs

In its 3rd year as a Varsity Sport, Blue Dog Bikes had a strong showing in the Housatonic Mountain Biking League. The Team took the A-Line on all the courses - greasy, chatter, or hero dirt - bringing victory home from every race. Their cuts and scrapes are honored by the Junior Division Trophy in Mr. Przygocki’s Office and the 17 Podium Medals sitting in their desk drawers. This team’s mettle on the pedals led to category progression and one of our riders becoming the first and youngest CatTwo Racer—the secondtoughest division in the League. We’re already looking ahead to Fall 2025, when we will host our first Home Race, and we cannot wait to see our returning riders back on the trails, ready to shred.

CROSS COUNTRY

Coaches: Mrs. Dyball and Ms. Holton Record: 4-3

Captains: Teddy Fishman and Noah Nicksa

Most Improved Runner: Beau Wise Coaches’ Award: Oliver Antov Blue Dog Award: Sadie Borken

The Cross Country Team demonstrated real dedication, persistence, and determination this fall. With the leadership of Captains, Teddy Fishman and Noah Nicksa, the Team earned a 4-3 record for the season. Fourteen (14) runners, ranging from 5th to 9th grade, earned spots on the Varsity Team: Oliver Antov, Cassidy Arneson, Sadie Borken, Teddy Fishman, Chris Ford, Hunter Hoagland, Luke Lee, Bennett Maguire, Noah Nicksa, Jack Perry, Cameron Simonelli, Parker Williams, Beau Wise, and Jin Yoon. In addition to these honors, there were three recipients of team awards. As a top finisher for our Team as only a 7th grader, Sadie Borken earned the Blue Dog Award for her hustle and effort. Oliver Antov received the Coaches’ Award for his positive attitude and coachability. Finally, as the member with the Most Improved Time throughout the season, Beau Wise earned the Most Improved Runner Award. Thank you all for a great season!

BOYS’ VARSITY BASKETBALL

Coaches: Mr. Hilliard, Ms. Gribbin, & Mr. Neff Record: 9-7

Captains: Beaux Fleming, Aaron Humphreys, & Hans Wang

The Steve Dodge Coach’s Award: Beaux Fleming Blue Dog Award: Ronan Borus

In June of 2024, Rumsey Hall Boys’ Varsity Basketball graduated 11 players and saw the departure of their head coach. With a new coaching staff, manager, and two (2) returning players, the 2025 season was predicted by many to be a rebuilding season. In the first half of the season, predictions looked accurate, as the Blue Dogs had a tough 3-5 start. However, the leadership by our Team Captains and stellar play from our young talent propelled the Blue Dogs to a 9-7 finish to the season. This basketball Team demonstrated consistent effort, integrity, and resilience each game. When thinking about defining moments that revealed these qualities, the last two games of the season come to mind. A rematch vs Canterbury saw the Blue Dogs in a double-digit deficit with a few minutes left to play, but the Team didn’t quit. Cam Ortiz sinks a game-winning three to cap off the comeback! Then, in our final game of the season, Senior Captains Beaux Fleming, Hans Wang, and Aaron Humphreys had a strong finish to their Rumsey basketball careers. Beaux scored 30 points, Hans played strong defense, and Aaron led the offense in the closing minutes to secure a clutch win vs Berkshire School. Many thanks to Jeanne Felix, for being a dedicated and supportive Manager, and Coach Gribbin and Coach Neff, for helping to lead the Team and establish a new culture for the Basketball program. We look forward to the 2025-2026 season. Go Blue Dogs!

GIRLS’ VARSITY BASKETBALL

Coaches: Mr. Anderson & Ms. Dunham Record: 11-3

Captains: Gabby Barros and Alex Lee

MVP: Sharon Kim & Romy Batzofin MIP: Ariel Ma Coaches’s Award: Mano Nagasaki Blue Dog Award: Elise Foley Bruiser Award: Harper Hawley

This season was one for the books. What started as a rocky beginning turned into an impressive and formidable season. There are many highlights that come to mind when looking back, but as a Coach, the two I am proudest of, are that every girl scored at least once and every player had the opportunity to start a game. Many of you surprised me with how much your skills and knowledge of the game developed over the season, and I hope you are proud of yourselves. It was a pleasure working with you every day this

winter, and I couldn’t be more proud of each and every one of you. With 11 of our 13 players moving on to secondary schools, I look forward to following your journeys, both on and off the court. To Elise and Harper… Get ready for next season — we have some work to do! - Coach Anderson

VARSITY SKIING

MVPs: Hunter Malczyk & Patrick O’Dwyer MIP: Lillian Pastor

Coaches’ Award: Daisy Xiao Mailbox Queen: Andy Ko

Blue Dog Award: Riley O’Dwyer & Charlotte Green

3rd Place – Berkshire Hudson Ski League

The Rumsey Ski Team had a successful and enjoyable season. We spent many hours together on the bus, bonding over Alex's music choices and impromptu singing sessions. Competing at Mohawk and Catamount Mountains in both GS and Slalom races, the Team found GS to be a fan favorite while realizing slalom was best for improving our edge control and quick turns. One of our favorite memories was walking back UP the course during practices

Special thanks to our Seniors - Annabel, Teddy, Andy, Jero, Joaquin, Lyann, Patch, Emma, Daisy, and Jin - for their hard work and dedication this season. Congratulations to our award winners: Riley O'Dwyer and Charlotte Green for Blue Dog Award, Lilly Pastor for MIP, Daisy Xiao for the Coaches' Award, and Hunter Malczyk and Patrick O'Dwyer for MVP.

And don't miss the final Star 99.9 "I Should Have Known That" question: "What is the most common thing that kids lie about daily?" Find out the answer at the end of the program!

1st Place - Pavek Cup Tournament

Tournament MVP: Ryan Kim

All-Tournament Team: Cade Dumser & Miles Wolff

The Boys Varsity Hockey Team wrapped up a competitive season with a record of 10-11-1. With several new players joining the program, the Team focused early on learning the core values of Rumsey Hockey. Over the course of the season, the group grew both on and off the ice, developing as leaders and building strong camaraderie. Centered around the themes of Adversity and Accountability, the Team embraced challenges and held each other to high standards—traits that made us a tough opponent throughout the year.

The season concluded with the Pavek Cup, a special Tournament that also raised funds for the Joe Garassino Foundation, in honor of Joe, a former Rumsey goalie, Class of 1999. The Team’s hard work culminated in a memorable victory over Upland in the Championship Game—earning our first Pavek Cup title since 2017. A sincere thank you to Senior Captains Cooper Bunce and Miles Wolff for their leadership and best wishes to our other graduating Seniors—Cade, Mason, Nathan, Ryan, and Gavin. Keep in touch and let us know about your next endeavors!

The Girls’ Varsity Hockey Team enjoyed a terrific season and finished with a 14-5-1 record. The season opened with four consecutive wins on the road before heading to Upland, PA in late January. The Blue Dogs played hard against tough competition at the Upland Tournament and returned home with a 1-1-1 record and a 3rd Place finish. The girls continued to play well through February while focusing on defending the Przygocki Cup at the season finale in early March. The Tournament once again delivered great competition and exciting games, but 2025 was Upland’s year, and the Blue Dogs finished 1-2 with another 3rd Place finish. The Team exemplified the perfect balance of hard work and fun, and the Coaches are proud of all of our players! We wish our Seniors, Tatum

and Arielle, all the best in the years ahead. We also wish Catherine, Evelyn, and Brooklynn all the best in their future endeavors!

Founder’s Day Regatta – Girls A - 3rd / Boys A - 2nd

Lower Boat Regatta – 1st Place

This spring was one for the books! Most of the season was windy and cold, with white caps nearly every afternoon. Yet, we brought home medals at Founder’s Day (Girls A took 3rd, Boys A got 2nd), claimed the Lower Boat Trophy Oar for the 4th year in a row, and every boat scored points—huge wins all around. But let’s be honest, what we’ll really remember are Coach Scheidt’s and Coach Kinsella’s ridiculous antics, the bald eagle vs. osprey showdown that ended with a fish falling from the sky and crashing our Team Meeting, coxswains buying snacks at the convenience store, Bee Brook mud puddle stomping, and Mr. Kinsella terrorizing us with a giant dead fish he found in Lane 5 (and left in the launch overnight?!). Big thanks to our Seniors and award winners—you led the charge and kept us laughing. And Coach Scheidt, we will miss you—your launch will always be waiting (hopefully fish-free).

VARSITY BASEBALL

Coaches: Messrs. Perreault and Dyball Record: 4-4

Captains: Cooper Bunce & Gunther Scheidt

MVP: Cooper Bunce

MIP: Beaux Fleming

Coaches’ Award: Mason Moritz Blue Dog Award: Gunther Scheidt

With a returning core of players, the Varsity Baseball Team looked to build on the success of 2024 and add to the win column, despite a schedule that included several tough matchups against strong JV programs. Senior Captains Cooper Bunce and Gunther

Scheidt provided excellent leadership to a Senior-heavy Team, supported by a strong VIth Form cast. Returning players Gavin Bertuglia, Beaux Fleming, Ryan Kim, Bodhi Dawson, Sam Giraldi, and Chet Kingsley were joined by new additions Charlie Weinberg, Aaron Humphreys, Adrian Bichara, Jack Perry, Mason Moritz, Andres Sepulveda, Patch O’Dwyer, Hunter Hoagland, Eugene Zhao, Cameron Ortiz, Nathan Li, and Tom Ewing, who helped round out a well-balanced squad.

With an offense capable of putting up big numbers, Rumsey averaged 8 runs per game while holding opponents to fewer than 6 runs per game. The pitching staff was anchored by Cooper Bunce and Beaux Fleming, with strong contributions from Gavin Bertuglia and Ryan Kim. Cooper’s 11-strikeout complete game against IMS to close the season was a highlight and a fitting end to a strong showing on the mound.

The team finished with a 4–4 record after several rainouts and cancellations. Congratulations to all of the Seniors on a great season, with special thanks to Gavin, Cooper, and Gunther—our only 3-year Varsity Baseball players this year. Go Blue Dogs!

VARSITY SOFTBALL

Coaches: Mr. Mandl, Ms. Dunham & Ms. Quinones Record: 5-4

Captain: Andy Ko

MVP: Andy Ko MIPs: Vivienne Hoagland & Kelsea Comiskey Coaches’ Award: Lyann Noh Blue Dog Award: Redding O’Marra

As we wrap up our 2025 Softball Season with a 5-4 record, we reflect on a journey marked by growth, adaptability, and unwavering Team Spirit. This season was unique, featuring several players new to the sport and others stepping into unfamiliar positions.

From the onset, our Team demonstrated a remarkable ability to adapt. We needed a pitcher this year and Lyann, Esme, Kenzie, and Redding were happy to learn. Andy caught behind the plate in every game and never complained about the long hours in her catcher’s gear. Vivienne, Alex, and Kelsea were happy to fill in wherever we needed them in the infield or outfield. Diana held down the fort in right field, while Anna, Riley, Eliza, and Kassie were ready to play wherever they were needed, whether that was the outfield or serving as baserunners in practice.

While the scoreboard reflected our efforts, the true success lay in the development of each player and the strength of our Team bond. We witnessed significant improvements in skills, confidence, and understanding of the game. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to

the players for their dedication. Here's to a season well-played and to the promise of continued growth and success in the seasons to come!

BOYS’ VARSITY LACROSSE

Coaches: Messrs. Ketchum & Green Record: 5-5

Captains: Nico Morales & Miles Wolff

MVP: Miles Wolff

Coaches’ Award: Zachary Calore

MIP: Cade Dumser & David Yang

Blue Dog Award: Griffin Bailey

Yes. It is true. This year’s season was dubbed a rebuilding year long before it even began. With just 4 returning players from last year’s Team, we knew that we were going to be young and inexperienced- which is exactly what we were. We worked hard and learned what Varsity Lacrosse demands and improved a great deal throughout the season. We notched five wins on the season against Hopkins, Hamden Hall, and Rectory. We lost a tight game against Eaglebrook, and were humbled by Brunswick, Indian Mountain, and Hamden Hall’s JV. With the B Team littered with young players gaining in size and confidence, the program is heading in a great direction. Congratulations and best of luck to Cade, Jin, and Captains Miles and Nico! Hope you continue to Just Play with a side of gritsssss at Vermont Academy, Westminster, Canterbury and Millbrook!

GIRLS’ VARSITY LACROSSE

Coaches: Mrs. Sharpe ‘09 & Ms. Gribbin

Captains: Mia Foley and Mano Nagasaki

Coaches’ Award: Molly Giraldi

Record: 9-1-1

Blue Dog Award: Greta Morcey

Defensive MVP: Ari Roman Attack MVP: Emma Shannon

MIP: Marin Fleischmann

This spring, Girls Varsity Lacrosse enjoyed an impressive and memorable season. With determination, teamwork, and unwavering grit, the Team worked hard each day, finishing with a strong record of 9-1-1. While we were disappointed not to host our annual Girls’ Lacrosse Invitational due to inclement weather, the girls made the most of the season and had a blast both on and off the field.

As we reflect on the season, we are especially proud of the growth and camaraderie shown by every player. The energy, spirit, and dedication they brought to every game and practice made this Team something special. We will dearly miss our Seniors—Maddie, Mano, Penelope, and Abby—whose leadership and passion have left a lasting impact on

the program. We also say goodbye to some of our incredible VIth Formers: Mia, Brooklynn, Evelyn, and Catherine. Each of you brought heart and hustle to the field, and we are so grateful for your contributions. Best of luck next year, girls! Keep chasing your lacrosse dreams—we can’t wait to see all that you accomplish!

VARSITY TENNIS

Coach: Mrs. Saxe & Ms. Real Record: 10-1

Captain: Ripley Giles

MVP: Jeronimo Leon de la Barra & William Zeng MIP: Eric Wang

Coach’s Award: Ripley Giles Blue Dog Award: Mickey Ma

This year’s Varsity A Tennis Team was truly something special — an extraordinary group of talented athletes who brought both skill and heart to the court. From the first time they started fall training on Sundays, their dedication set the tone for a season marked by growth, grit, and camaraderie. In their opening match against Hotchkiss, the Team narrowly fell 3–4, but they returned the following week with a dominant 5–2 victory—a testament to their resilience and determination. They continued their momentum with key wins over tough opponents like Berkshire and Choate JV. The singles lineup was anchored by William Zeng, Jero de la Barra, and Arjun Pillai, with strong contributions from Will Neff, Joaquin Manzano, and Eric Wang. Our doubles teams consistently impressed, led by dynamic pairings: Olivia Sun and Oliver Antov, Doris Qu and Mickey Ma, and Carter Williams and Finn Madden. We were also grateful for the support and leadership of our Manager/Player, Tommy Jiang. Captain Ripley Giles guided this tight-knit Team with passion and poise. They supported one another through every challenge, forming bonds that reached far beyond the court. From intense practices to unforgettable matches, this season was defined by teamwork, perseverance, and memories that will last a lifetime.
