Communication Skills “Communication is a skill that you can learn. It’s like riding a bicycle or typing. If you’re willing to work at it ,you can rapidly improve the quality of every part of life” -Brain Tracy Communication plays a vital role in human life and human society . It helps to sharing information and knowledge with others . It helps to connect people and make relationships with others. It is a process of creating and sharing ideas ,information ,facts , views ,and feelings among the people to reach a common understanding. What is communication skill ? It is the ability to convey or share ideas and feelings effectively. It is used when giving and receiving different kinds of information . Good communication skills enable individuals to understand others and to be understood . It includes the skills like listening ,speaking ,observing and empathy. It is used to inform, to express feeling ,to imagine ,to influence and to meet social expectations . The basic function of communication in an organization are to inform , persuade and motivate others. Communication skills can help us to avoid conflicts. It is helpful for better decision making. There are different types of communication skills and method that can be used in a persons professional life. Listening is one of the best ways to be a good communicator. It involves paying close attention to what the other person saying ,asking good questions for clarification to ensure understanding. Good questions can help conversations flow and improve the outcome of communication. The active and successful listening is not only for understanding but for the understanding of how the speaker feels during communication. Non verbal communication is also important. Our eye contact , body position ,facial expressions, hand gestuers , attitude and tone of voice are helpful to us to convey our messages. Non verbal signals are wordless communication. Emotion control is playing a vital role in communication and it provides a way to understand others. Our feelings play an important role . We should have confidence about what we say during interacting with others. Being confidence can be maintain our communication process meaningfully. A friendly tone will encourage others to communicate with you. We should respect others when we speak to others. Then they will be more likely to communicate with us. An open mind helps us to understanding other people’s points of view. We should maintain a positive attitude when we are speaking to others .People will respond positively to us . Communication is a skill. It is a teachable skill. If we practice or attain these skills we will to make good and positive relations with others. Best wishes to all.
