RPS AV Group (Ireland)

Lilian Webb

The group began in 1989 and over the years has had speakers from AV workers across the Irish Sea. However, in latter years, the group meet to study and discuss AVs either from International AV competitions or those that attendees are working on, along with tutorials by members on various aspects of Pictures 2 Exe, sound & Photoshop. The day is driven by those attending and their needs.

Over the years there have been a number of organisers - Mollie McConaghy, James Hamill, the late Don Mitchell and the late Alan Jennings, Gordon Gray and since January, 2009, Raymond Hughes.

On Saturday, 1st June, Raymond stepped down as organiser and on behalf of the group, James presented him with a card and token of our appreciation. Mark Allen has agreed to take over as organiser. In the photograph with Raymond are two previous organisers - Mollie & James and the photo was taken by Mark.

The group has met in various venues over the years in Belfast, Lisburn and now in Bangor, and ventured south of the border once or twice. It has been supported by AV workers both north and south of the border over the years. Those of us travelling from the south have witnessed a huge change not only in technology from learning about reel to reel to the latest version of PTE but the time it takes to get to the venue has almost halved!
