H. 4 1/2 in. (11.4 cm.) Ex French collection. 72 ROMAN BRONZE BALSAMARIUM OF ANTINOUS, COMPANION OF HADRIAN with silver inlaid eyes. After he drowned in the Nile in AD 130 he was deified and is depicted here wearing a garment over his left shoulder; bottom and handle lacking. Ca. AD 130. H. 4 1/8 in. (10.5 cm.)
