Sadaqah refers to a voluntary act of charity performed with the sole purpose of pleasing Allah and without expecting a substitute in return.

In Arabic, the word ‘Sadaqah’ literally means ‘righteousness’ and stems from the root word ‘sidq’, which means sincerity; implying that Sadaqah is the sincerity of faith and righteous behaviour that leads to a healthy and balanced society.

The Quran and Sunnah repeatedly emphasize the importance of giving Sadaqah regularly and Allah has promised many benefits to the person who does.

Benefits of Sadaqah:

Will fulfil your needs.

Eases hardships and removes calamities.

Is an investment in this life and the hereafter.

Removes sins

Is one of the gates of Jannah. Will be your shade on the Day of Judgement.

Purifies the Nafs

Is a means of acceptance of duaa. Brings balance to society

Is a way to earn rewards after death

TO TRY THIS RAMADAAN:

Date Bark

Remove the pit of about 16 Medjool dates.

Place them down onto a sheet with baking paper with another sheet over

Using a glass or pot, flatten them down to make an even layer.

Melt about half a cup of peanut butter - I added honey to mine as it was unsweetened and then pour over.

Top with peanuts and pistachios- loved this combo.

Place in the freezer while you’re melting your chocolate of choice with coconut oil - dark works well here!

Spread the melted chocolate over along with more nuts and this is a must - some flaky sea salt.

Freeze until set, cut into squares, and keep frozen or refrigerated.

It takes about 5 minutes before they become chewy once taken out of the freezer and they last much longer!

Chicken Spring Rolls

INGREDIENTS

1kg chicken fillet, processed in a food processor

125g butter

1 5 tsp salt

Half tsp white pepper

Half tsp black pepper

1 5 tbsp green masala (I use THP Green Masala)

1 tsp crushed green chili

Half tsp crushed red chili (I use WW Birds Eye Chili)

2 tbsp vinegar

-

Half green pepper, cut into strips

Half red pepper, cut into strips. Half a cup whole (frozen) corn 1 carrot, grated

Half tsp salt.

1 onion, cubed

1 cup grated gouda.

1 cup grated mozzarella

2 tbsp mayonnaise

Half a cup chopped coriander. A handful of broken spaghetti, boiled

METHOD:

Add the chicken to melted butter. Cook until white - remember to break up any chunks that start to form

Add the rest of the ingredients and cook gently until the water dries out (shouldn't be fully dry).

Remove from the pan using a slotted spoon To the same pan, add the pepper, corn and carrot to lightly cook Season with salt. Add the onion and cook just until translucent.

Stir into the chicken

Allow to cool completely

Stir in the mayonnaise, spaghetti and cheeses. Finally add the coriander and leave to firm up overnight
