A Decade of Distinction
Tenth Anniversary Celebration September 21, 2024 dîner en noir et blanc
Dr. Emile Webster, Professor in Restorative Dentistry-Howard University College of Dentistry, encouraged the idea of a fraternal bond among students in medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy.
Dr. Webster invoked the assistance of his student- Reginald Salter-in reactivating Chi Delta Mu Fraternity, Inc. Chi Delta Mu Fraternity was founded on Howard University's campus
January 30, 1913. The fraternity had no presence on campus since its last initiation line of 1992. Unable to fulfill his Professor's wishes, Salter went on to graduate from Howard's Dental School in 1999 while maintaining contact with Webster.
In 2013, 100 years after the founding of Chi Delta Mu, fate would lead Salter back to Howard as a Professor in dentistry, once again mentored by Webster. The two men spoke often of the role of the fraternity in the greater success and maturation of young students. Dr. Webster was unable to recall much of the information necessary to reactivate.
When Dr. Salter was approached by his mentee, Trevor Thomas- a dental student at Howard, he passed the vision of on to Thomas. Salter and Thomas discovered Chi Delta Mu Fraternity had been dissolved as an incorporated entity. No currently active members were identified who were able to lead to historical artifacts from the fraternity. Thomas, with the aid of students in medicine and dentistry at Howard University, laid the framework for a fraternity that would mirror the aims of the fraternal bond Webster inspired. On September 22, 2014 a new fraternity was voted upon, officers elected, and constitution formalized. Trevor Thomas, Victor Amarteifio, Anthony Baldwin, James Jenkins, Isaac O'Neal and Ezzard Rolle, Jr Founded Delta Mu Chi Fraternity with Dr. Reginald Salter as Founding Advisor. It was unanimously decided, Dr. Emile Webster, who was now retired, would be named Honorary Founder. Trevor Thomas was elected the first President and Isaac O'Neal was elected Vice President. Delta Mu Chi Fraternity was incorporated on September 24, 2014. The motto of the fraternity is: Preparation, Performance, Professionalism.
The first class of initiates was received in 2015 and consisted of Julius Kioko, Richard Long, Jaytron Charles, Derrick Joseph, Aaron Bolds, Jordan Jones, Stephen Robinson, and Clarence Glenn.

DELTA MU CHI IS COMMITTED TO CHANGING THE NARRATIVE
The DMX Honey Award is bestowed upon a female who has shown unwavering support of the Brothers. She received the first Honey Award and was named Mother of the Fraternity. Mrs. Gilliam was there from DAY 1. 10 Years later, she always sends a text on Founder’s Day and on Birthdays. We are Blessed to have her!
The COVID-19 pandemic (also known as the coronavirus pandemic), caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), began with an outbreak of COVID-19 in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. It spread to other areas of Asia, and then worldwide in early 2020. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC) on 30 January 2020, and assessed the outbreak as having become a pandemic on 11 March. DMX showed tenacity during this period- resorting to online sessions and checkin brunches. We continued to grow- wearing masks.
The Fraternity held a reunion celebration in 2021- the first inperson gathering for the Brothers following the pandemic.
