How It Started?

How did RoomRaccoon get its stripes in South Africa? It all started with the one passionate student, Niels Verspui.

Niels’s journey began at Bliss Boutique Hotel in the Netherlands, where he worked alongside the CPO & Founder of RoomRaccoon, Nadja Buckenberger. It was here that he was introduced to the capabilities of the RoomRaccoon system. His passion for efficiency and dedication to providing exceptional customer experiences led him to explore the intricacies of guest journeys for his thesis at The Glen Boutique Hotel in Cape Town back in 2017.

Throughout his research, Niels discovered a common challenge faced by hoteliers both in the Netherlands and South Africa: the lack of an all-encompassing solution to optimise the guest experience. Instead of being discouraged, Niels saw this as an opportunity to make a difference.

Driven by his desire to empower hoteliers, Niels embarked on a mission. He dedicated himself to introducing the most comprehensive system on the market, tailored specifically to the unique needs of South African hoteliers.

How It’s Going

RoomRaccoon started with just one employee in South Africa, but now the biggest office is located in Cape Town. The team enjoys interacting with hoteliers during live masterclasses held at the office, and members of the South African market get to visit hotels regularly. Today, RoomRaccoon is the leading Hotel Management System in the country, offering local support and integrations with local services such as Peach Payments, SafariNow, and TabletPOS.

The RoomRaccoon software serves thousands of hotels globally in over 50 countries with our technology. Every day our global team collaborates to empower hoteliers with technology that drives better-performing hotels and guest experiences. Expanding into the South African market has been an incredible opportunity for RoomRaccoon and helped build relationships worldwide.
