14 th Annual Ron’s Run for the Roses

Presidents Letter

Welcome friends,

Thank you for coming to the 14 th Annual Ron’s Run for the Roses here at the Farmington Polo Grounds. I am so grateful to be joined by all of you on this beautiful day of new beginnings. I hope you enjoy this incredible event produced by our dedicated leadership team, and our hardworking volunteers, vendors, and sponsors. Not a detail has been overlooked by these talented people, many of whom have been with us since my backyard party, where it all began in 2009.

When Ron was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2009 the five-year survival rate was just 5%. This past year the five-year survival rate has reached 12%. It has been a slow but steady improvement and a testament to the tireless efforts of researchers, medical professionals, and the entire pancreatic cancer community. While pancreatic cancer continues to have the lowest survival rate of all major cancers, it gives us hope that we can continue to push for even greater advancements in the fight against this devastating disease.

Today I urge you to introduce yourselves to other guests. No doubt, you will learn of the heartbreak of pancreatic cancer, and you will hear stories of hope, like my dear friends and inspirations, Honorary Chairs Mary Froeb and her son, Kevin. If this is your first-time attending Ron’s Run you will quickly sense our united determination to fight this deadly disease and to make the lives of those diagnosed a little better.

Enjoy this truly special day filled with inspiring stories, exciting auctions, live music, great food, and the love of friends and family. Please don’t forget to bid high and bid often! Together we are making a difference.

Sincerely,

Ron’s Rescue

Imagine receiving the devastating diagnosis that you, your spouse or other family member may have pancreatic cancer.

Your World is forever changed.

You hear the word, “pancreatic cancer” and it sounds like “the end of the world.” This devastating diagnosis brings a lot of emotional and financial stress to you and your family. Watching your loved one fight the hardest battle of their life, while balancing bill paying and other types of planning – transportation, child care, counseling, estate planning, and on and on – it seems as though there are not enough hours in the day, not enough money in the bank to assist you in this tremendously hard time.

That’s why the RON’S RESCUE FUND was created – to lend a helping hand.

Established in 2012, the Ron’s Rescue Fund is the caring “heart” of the Ron Foley Foundation. Donations to the restricted fund are dedicated solely to providing financial assistance to patients fighting pancreatic cancer and to help alleviate any financial burdens. Over the past eleven years, Ron’s Rescue has provided over $400,000 in financial assistance to pancreatic cancer patients not only in Connecticut, but throughout all of New England, New York, and New Jersey.

The success of Ron’s Rescue is due entirely to your generosity. Please help us keep hope alive with your 100% tax-deductible contribution.

Thank you for your support!
