A TOXIC WORKING CULTURE AND HOW DOES IT IMPACT PROFITABILITY? 2

Manifesting in a blame culture in corporate teams, a lack of collaborative skills and a high turnover rate, a toxic work culture takes its toll not only on staff but also on the business as a whole, affecting how people interact with each other as well as their decision-making

– with potentially huge ramifications as a result.

According to research shared by Skroud Consulting, 86% of job seekers avoid companies with a bad reputation, with companies that demonstrate a positive work culture benefiting from up to 400% growth compared with those that exhibit a toxic working environment. Corporations with a positive work culture also benefit from a 202% boost in performance.

Corporate culture can easily be assessed by gauging the stress levels of employees. Of course, everyone can be susceptible to stress from time to time. However, where employees seem more stressed than usual, particularly over a longer duration, this is almost certainly attributable to a toxic workplace culture. Blame culture, combined with unprofessional, unethical and even abusive behaviour from management, supervisors or colleagues, all contribute to a toxic working environment.
