WELCOME TO RWU ORIENTATION NEWSLETTER Welcome from Student Orientation Advisors January 2024 As the New Student and Family Orientation team; it is our great pleasure to welcome you to Roger Williams University! We are looking forward to helping you transition into life at RWU. Throughout your time at orientation, you will have the opportunity to meet some of your fellow classmates, engage with staff members, and become connected with various resources that will help you succeed throughout your time here. Our Orientation Advisor staff are excited to share their personal stories and experiences here on campus. As you prepare to start your journey at Roger Williams University, our Orientation Advisor staff wanted to provide you with advice as you begin your Roger Williams journey: Check your Roger Williams University email every day. See below for more information about how to access your email. Visit your Faculty members during their office hours. Getting involved is your key to success! It gives you the chance to make a variety of friends. Build relationships and make connections with other students.

Roger Williams University has continued to give new and exciting opportunities to each one of us, challenging us to light our own way and push hard to achieve what we wanted. Each of us have countless remarkable experiences at RWU, and we are certain that this community will do the same for you. We cannot wait to see you on campus for your Orientation session! WHAT’S AN OA?

During orientation, new students will be welcomed by our outstanding Orientation Advisors (OAs)! OAs are upper-class students who are trained to lead students through the Orientation Program, introduce you to the campus community, and provide insight into their personal RWU experience. Our OAs are engaged student leaders on campus who love the RWU community and are passionate about making the transition into our community as seamless as possible! OAs will assist during the Orientation program and your new transition RWU.

NEXT STEPS

1. Schedule your course selection date (email will be sent from our orientation office) 2. Request any college transcripts to be sent to RWU Registrar’s Office 3. Submit your photo for your student ID by January 11th, 2024! 4. Complete the 4 RWU Hawks Online Training courses (direct links to the course will be sent to you in early January

GET INVOLVED & ENGAGED IN THE ROGER COMMUNITY! We are looking forward to welcoming you to the Roger Community and hope that you will become engaged in a co-curricular activity. From our clubs and organizations, to joining an athletics intramural team to finding campus employment; there are so many ways for you to get involved in campus life. The Student Programs, Leadership, and Orientation (SPLO) is home to our seven major organizations, approximately 75 student clubs, and major campus events. We hope you’ll research the opportunities that await you at RWU by visiting our online involvement database, Hawk Link.

Follow these steps to log on: 1. Visit hawklink.rwu.edu and click “Sign In”

To submit your own photo, please email tcookinham@rwu.edu, attaching your photo and include your RWU email address, you student ID number, and full name in the message.

2. Click “Sign in with Campus ID” Your username and password are the same as your RWU portal login (use ACADEMICS.EDU option). You will be able to search our Clubs and Organizations and join groups that you are interested in.

HEALTH SERVICES & REQUIRED FORMS All New Full-Time Undergraduate Students Must Complete the Requirements by Jan 11th: 1. 2. 3.

Access the Health Services Patient Portal located on the RWU student portal. Enter your Vaccination dates on the Immunizations tab. Upload completed and signed documents on the Upload tab to include: • Emergency Contact and Consent Form • Immunization Record (you can use records from your health care provider or have health care provider complete the RWU Immunization Record • Physical Exam • COVID Vaccincation 4. Complete required online forms in the Health Services Patient Portal to Include: • Health History • TB Screening Form 5. Waive the RWU Student Health Insurance if you have comparable health coverage. Scan the QR Code.

FORMS MUST BE SUBMITTED ELECTRONICALLY AND WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED VIA MAIL OR FAX.
