Foreword With a track record of 37 years, Build4Asia has gone from strength to strength to become the leading building, electrical engineering and security trade show in Hong Kong. This year marks a major task for us – as the 1st B2B exhibition to restart in Hong Kong amid Covid-19, we see the need to forge strong ties with the industry to deliver a show that goes above and beyond excellence. To achieve this goal, we have gone to great lengths to implement new initiatives including the 1st Build4Asia Awards, which has proved to be a resounding success. We are thrilled to see such an overwhelming response, which signifies the passion and solidarity of the entire building and construction industry. We believe the Awards will continue to carry these precious values and bring together more brilliant minds and works in future editions. We are blessed to receive heartfelt trust and continuous support from our event partner PRC Magazine and all the distinguished judges, who have reached out and given their best endeavours to contribute in the event. Now we see ourselves not just a show organiser but a family member of the industry. I believe with our collective efforts, the show, and the industry, can both scale greater heights.

Daniel Cheung General Manager Informa Markets – Organiser of Build4Asia

Foreword As Hong Kong’s construction sector has grown over the last four decades, Build4Asia, one of the city’s longest running trade fairs, has been there in alliance every step of the way. PRC Magazine’s relationship with this vital building industry exhibition began back in 2008 and has flourished ever since. Choosing to establish the inaugural Build4Asia Awards in a pandemic year was a bold move given the highest levels of uncertainty the community has faced in living memory. But the support received from all corners of our industry validates this decision and confirms the importance of Build4Asia as one of construction’s premier events. As publisher and co-organiser of these newly establish Awards I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all those companies and corporations that have entered the competition this year. To our distinguished judges who offered their time to review and comment on the vast array of entries, I say, thank you. On behalf of my team I must also express our gratitude to the organiser of Build4Asia, Informa Markets. Your support over recent years and over the last six months during planning and production has been essential to the successful staging of Build4Asia Awards 2020. We look forward to building upon this success at the next event in 2022.

Mike Staley Publisher, PRC Magazine and Owner, ROF Media

John Holland Headquarters: Next Home at Flinders Gate This fit-out by Decibel Architecture is housed in the upper three stories of the historic Ball & Welch building, 180 Flinders Street. John Holland have been instrumental in creating the built environment of Melbourne, and thus, their new headquarters is in an important location in Melbourne’s heart. Decibel’s design thinking considered time, space and human engagement in an ongoing dialogue with nature, with seasons, with the profitable undertakings of the business, and the agency of those people to create the best possible journey, not simply get to the destination. The project brief was to reflect a workplace that is welcoming, healthy, happy, productive, and connected. To build this purposeful, people centred and meaningful environment, the client searched for innovative design thinking not only into the interior workplace planning but also to the development of a community which reaches beyond desks, teams, and walls. The brief required a thorough understanding of not only who John Holland has been and is, but who they aspired to become, and an aware and attuned understanding of their fresh vision, identity, and the renewed value pyramid.
