Grammy winner Guordan Banks continues to climb the Billboard R&B charts with his single "I Just Do," released with producer Cosmic Caviar, reaching #18 on the charts The single, released under Banks' independent label Bank On It Records, strives to bring innovation and push boundaries within the music industry.
Growing up in North Philadelphia, Banks had a severe speech impediment His mother encouraged him to sing to communicate, and soon after, Banks started exploring songwriting. Music has now become Banks' way of life.
Banks describes his music and the creativity that comes from running his label: "Keep You In Mind" reached #1 on the Billboard Adult R&B charts, and "I Just Do" continues to climb the charts at #18 How does it feel for your songs to reach that level of success?
It's a blessing I'm happy that I'm able to show consistently that hard work, dedication, and good music is the only recipe that you need to be successful
How would you describe your sound?
I would describe it as futuristic R&B, cosmic R&B, modern soul.
You just established Bank On It Records, a distribution, label, recording studio, and artist development powerhouse. With your own company, do you feel it gives you more freedom to be creative with your music?
Yes absolutely. I'm able to make the music that I'm passionate about without there being a focus on what's popular or what someone who just cares about a check
thinks people want to hear
What can fans expect next from you and Bank On It Records?
We have a roster of incredibly talented singers, songwriters, rappers, musicians. We just signed Jahnii, whose music I'm very excited about AGAMESTL is an amazing rapper and has a great vibe He's coming up big There's just so much on the horizon that I think personally is changing the game in music.
Keep up with Guordan Banks on Instagram, Twitter, Twitter, and Facebook @Guordan, and stream "I Just Do" and "Keep You In Mind" wherever music is available.

If her original song's "Time Machine" and "Sirens" aren't already looping around your playlist, you have definitely come across a Mia Giovina video on TikTok.
The twenty-year-old New Jersey native grew her fanbase on TikTok, rewriting popular songs from different perspectives Her relatable and catchy lyrics helped skyrocket her platform, which now has 181.3K followers and 6.9M likes.
Giovina now shares her beautiful original music, playing snippets of unreleased music with her followers on TikTok before releasing the songs to streaming platforms Her debut single "Sirens" explores leaving her hometown to chase a dream, along with the excitement and hurt that come with growing up
"If I make it out to New York, will I miss the sunset drive?" Giovina asks herself in the first line of the song
She released her second single, "Time Machine," July 2nd, which also explores what it's like to grow up - this time, longing for childhood
"Everything's growing, and I feel left behind Everyone's leaving, but I still want more time," sings Giovina.
Giovina's message of holding onto childhood memories resonates with fans, and her inclusivity creates a safe listening space for music lovers
Giovina describes her music and growing as an artist:
How would you describe your music and sound?
I think my music is super conversational and lyrically driven I take a lot of inspiration from artists like Lizzy McAlpine, Phoebe
Bridgers, and Taylor Swift, who are all lyrical geniuses.
If you had a time machine, what memory would you go back and relive again?
I love this question I think one of the most bittersweet feelings in the world is realizing you're gonna miss a moment that you're still in. As I get older, I feel like I recognize those moments more often and try to cherish them as much as I can I would probably time travel back to the summer my cousins and I went on
vacation to the shore. I just loved everyone being together and being so carefree. Those are my favorite moments
Many of your first songs published on TikTok were spins on popular songs written from an alternate perspective, e g , One Direction's "Olivia" from Olivia's friend's point of view, and Taylor Swift's "Betty" from Betty's point of view. When did you decide you wanted to start releasing original full-length songs?

As the newest U.S. National Park, New River Gorge is within driving distance of about half the U S population, making it a perfect weekend getaway and vacation destination. The park is named for the 73,000-acre stretch of New River carved canyon, which at its deepest is 1,600 feet The New River Gorge Bridge spans the width of the canyon and is the second longest arch bridge in the world The park hosts world-class whitewater rafting, rock climbing, hiking, and outdoor adventure. Here are five must-do adventures on your New River Gorge vacation:
If West Virginia had a state sport, it would be whitewater rafting People first started taking trips down the 53 miles of whitewater in the New in rubber boats in the 1960s, and ever since, people have traveled from all over the world to experience the unique boating experience
Trips are typically split between two sections of the river, the Upper New and Lower New If you are a beginner and are looking to experience whitewater rafting, the Upper New is best for you, with Class II and occasional Class III rapids. For more experienced rafters and those looking for an adventure, the Lower New houses more than 25 Class III–IV+ rapids within a 14-mile stretch
If you're not afraid of heights, put on your harness and walk the New River Gorge Bridge’s 1 25-mile catwalk Bridge Walk gives those brave enough the best views of the gorge and a unique experience you truly cannot find anywhere else
After a long day of exploring, visit the best of Fayetteville's local food scene The Cathedral Cafe, housed in a former church, works directly with local farmers to use as many local and seasonal ingredients as possible and serves breakfast all day long. Pies & Pints is a favorite pizza chain that serves unique toppings, such as their "grape and gorgonzola" pizza Their char-grilled hot wings are also a must And if this is your first time in West Virginia, you have to try a biscuit from the state-favorite Tudor's Biscuit World.
With more than 100 miles of hiking paths, New River Gorge is the perfect place to explore by foot, and the sandstone cliffs provide climbers the ideal conditions for a challenging and rewarding climb The Endless Wall provides both hikers and climbers some of the best views. For hikers, take the 2.4mile Endless Wall Trail that overlooks the western rim of the gorge. Hikers, try the 5.9 Fool Effect sport climb
At West Virginia’s largest annual single-day festival, thousands gather to watch BASE jumpers leap off the bridge and fly 876 feet to the gorge below It is also the only day spectators can walk across the bridge. This fall, Bridge Day will be held on October 16th and will be a great day to explore the park!

isn't around anymore, but yeah So I originally started on Twitter That wasn't getting too much recognition, so I moved to Instagram, and it honestly got a lot more recognition than I thought in a relatively short period. But yeah! I've been into art my whole life Since I was younger, I would draw with friends and all that, and it's just something that's always been in my life, whether I tried to do good or bad whatever But it's definitely something that I really enjoy doing!
How would you describe yourself, the mastermind behind Bad Crystal Art?
You know, I don't know I want to say super down to earth, at least I definitely try to be I am a fan of so many people, but let's say I did a piece of them, and they happen to see it; I'm not going to freak out because they're just people, you know? This is something that I definitely have learned being a fan of a lot of artists who have seen the work that I've done They're just normal people like you and me. They're just a different type. But yeah, I definitely try to be down to earth, and I just try to give back the support to the people who continuously support and love me
You've been making and posting Bad Crystal Art since February of 2019 and just reached 5,000 posts on Instagrammeaning you've made 5,000 different pieces of Bad Crystal Art. How long does it take you to make each piece?
Yes, I did just hit 5000 posts! It depends on the detail in each picture, but I want to say maybe 15 to 20 minutes per piece I think I try to crack out 5 to 10 a day if I'm not too busy.
How do you choose which images to turn into Bad Crystal Art?
I don't really have a specific way of how I choose I think it's more I see a picture of somebody that I follow or something that I like, and I think, "Oh, this would be really funny as bad art," so I'll screenshot it, save it, and it's basically just kind of like that. I have so many pictures in my camera roll of people that I still have to do that I found, and some pictures are probably like a month old, so when I finally get around to it, people might be like, dang, this picture was a while ago hahaha, but they always love it! How does it feel to have people like John Mayer reposting your art and interacting with your account?
Super, super surreal; If I told my 15-16year-old self, granted I'm only 19 -almost 20, that I would have John Mayer, the Jonas Brothers - who were my childhood, and a bunch more know my account I definitely would not believe myself It's insane to say that these people have seen my art, followed my account, and just recognize it for what it is. I don't know how to describe it. I guess it's just super insane. Again, I never would've thought that would happen, especially not when I started this account with 100
followers And now it's at almost 7,000 followers, which I know is not a lot still, but I'm just super grateful, and I always step back and look at my life and all the opportunities that I've had celebrities that I've direct messaged with. Just super, super insane. And again, I know those people are just people, but I have to step back sometimes and take a look at what I've created with my art and all the love that it gets
On August 26th, you hosted "Meet Bad Crystal Art," an online concert event featuring performances from Mae Krell, Hotel Fiction, and Mikey Ferrari. Can fans expect more music collaborations with Bad Crystal Art in the future?
I did; yes, it was super, super fun Granted, it was my first time hosting a virtual event like that myself, so it's kind of weird at first trying to get it all together, and honestly, it was a spur of the moment thing My friend who works where I held it, Applause, which is something through Zoom, told me about it I immediately was like, "Okay, I need to do something with this; this is an awesome thing," so I reached out to all the artists. They were all super down, but I think maybe I'll eventually do an in-person thing, but yeah, I'll definitely do another event like this and a lot more music collaborations
Keep up with Bad Crystal Art on Instagram and Twitter @BadCrystalArt, and stream Tara Demers' Bad Crystal Art Class podcast.
Laura Nickel makes her debut as a singer/songwriter with her first single "Screen " The single uses a dream-like soundscape to describe feeling "suck-in-the middle," inspired by scenarios in her real life. "Screen" is the first single off Nickel’s upcoming four track EP Blue Skies to be released October 22nd Get to know the rising artist:
Where did your love of music come from?
My love of music has accompanied me throughout my life. I grew up listening to music with my mother, who shared her love for music with me My mom is a music teacher and introduced me to the joy of singing as well as many different types of music. Growing up, we listened to a lot of classical pieces and musical theater albums together and would sing along with the melodies I have many fond memories of singing with her in the car on road trips
As I grew older, I began exploring more genres and musical styles on my own. I began to find artists and songwriters that inspired me and began growing this seedling of a dream to become a songwriter These artists include Taylor Swift, Sara Bareilles, and Ella Fitzgerald The more I learned about the music I was listening to, the more I loved it! I also think some of my love for music can be attributed to learning how to play guitar and piano. My mom taught me how to play piano at a young age, and I continued learning and playing as I grew up
I found that learning to play the songs I loved added a more personal, deeper meaning to the music. These piano skills ultimately led me to start writing my own music at the age of sixteen I found it was a good way for me to process emotional experiences and release these emotions into a form of art I haven't stopped since You have said that while you write from personal experience, you have also been known to write songs from the perspective
of different television shows and movies. How do you get in the headspace to write from that perspective, and are there songs on Blue Skies that feature songwriting from that perspective?
I think that writing from other people's perspectives is much more difficult than writing from my own However, I find that sometimes I am able to identify with certain movie or TV show characters or aspects of their stories, which helps me create a more detailed storyline to write a song about. Although there are no songs on this EP that
directly stem from a specific television character, I have two tracks that contain fictionalized elements in their storytelling The opening track "Debris" is written about a love story gone wrong, and the song "Dangerous" is about being unable to move on from someone who you know was bad for you My debut single, "Screen," is ironically not based on a character's perspective, as the title may suggest, but rather the feeling of being used as a plot point in other people's lives. I also wrote "Screen" about using the storylines of movies and characters to escape
from my own reality and live within another scenario in my head for at least a little while. You have lived in many different cities across the U.S., including Lancaster, Pennsylvania, St. Louis, Missouri, and Buffalo, New York Do you think this has contributed to your songwriting process?
Yes, I think that living in many different parts of the U.S. has influenced my songwriting process Since I've moved around a fair amount, I've been able to see and experience a lot of different places I really think that the local music scene and culture from these cities have subconsciously influenced my writing style while also teaching me to be more flexible with my creative process Additionally, moving around has allowed me to meet so
many wonderful and unique people who taught me a lot about life. In general, I am now a lot more comfortable with the idea of change in my own life and have come to realize that even though nothing in life is permanent, we should enjoy the life we are living in the moment. Your debut single, "Screen," shares with us the relief you find consuming movies and television. I'd imagine you have some epic streaming suggestions. What are some of your favorite movies and shows to escape to?

If you haven't already heard and gotten your movie tickets, the 2015 stage musical Dear Evan Hansen has been made into a feature film. The musical made its Broadway debut in December 2016 and was instantly a success Tony, Grammy, and Emmy Award winner Ben Platt reprises his Broadway role as an anxious, isolated high schooler aching for understanding and belonging amid the chaos and cruelty of the social-media age
Evan Hansen (Platt) is a high school senior who doesn't fit in Hansen's therapist encourages him to write letters to himselfwords he wishes someone would tell him. One of Evan's motivational letters is stolen by his loner classmate Connor Murphy (Colton Ryan, Little Voice) After Connor takes his own life, the letter is found by his mother, Cynthia (six-time Oscar® nominee Amy Adams). Connor's family believes the letter means their son had found his only friend in Evan, and to console his family, Evan spins a tale of a friendship that never existed

Glasgow alt-folk singer-songwriter, composer, harpist, and violinist Sam MacAdam released her second single, "Longsands," on August 27th. The song, which MacAdam wrote, performed, and recorded, explores disappointment and lost love, juxtaposed with a rare and perfect English sunny day, and uses dovetailing string entries to recreate the undulating North Sea, with the harp providing rhythmic stability throughout
"I wrote this song following a bad breakup," said MacAdam "I wanted to experiment with acoustic instruments and production techniques to create an intimate experience where I speak directly to the listener."
MacAdam's work draws on classical music, traditional Scottish culture, and contemporary innovation, and she holds a first-class honours degree from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
MacAdam is a member of The Willow Trio, a clarsach trio playing their own compositions and arrangements of classical and traditional music Her recorded music has appeared on the Willow Trio's debut EP and compilation albums. But "Longsands" is MacAdam's second solo single release, following "Glow," released earlier this year.
Get to know the Glasgow artist: How would you describe "Longsands"?
"Longsands" is a walk along a beach with a chill in the air, a perfect day tinged with disappointment, and the loss of love. Using harp and strings to envelop the listener in the acoustic equivalent of waves, I try to recreate a specific snippet of time in song format
Where did your love of harp music come from?
Quite predictably, I first saw the harp being played live when I was at Latitude
Festival and saw Joanna Newsom From there I was pretty obsessed! I started learning the clàrsach as a hobby whilst at university in Edinburgh and eventually studied Traditional and Classical harp at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland I think I'm obsessed with everything to do with the harp - from Bach etudes to the romantic composers, to traditional and contemporary Scottish music traditions. Mostly, I just love to sit down and play at the end of a long day.
The harp has been a mainstay in classical music since the 17th century, but your music gives classical harp music a contemporary twist. How do you experiment with the harp and your sound?
I think the combination of the Trad element and the Classical, plus a teenage diet of Radiohead, mean I want to play with interlocking shapes and awkward harmonies. Often I start by messing around with chord progressions and then gradually build the
