Dear Evan Hansen is Coming to SiriusXM & Pandora

By Sebastian Potter, Staff Writer

If you haven't already heard and gotten your movie tickets, the 2015 stage musical Dear Evan Hansen has been made into a feature film. The musical made its Broadway debut in December 2016 and was instantly a success. Tony, Grammy, and Emmy Award winner Ben Platt reprises his Broadway role as an anxious, isolated high schooler aching for understanding and belonging amid the chaos and cruelty of the social-media age.

Evan Hansen (Platt) is a high school senior who doesn't fit in. Hansen's therapist encourages him to write letters to himself - words he wishes someone would tell him. One of Evan's motivational letters is stolen by his loner classmate Connor Murphy (Colton Ryan, Little Voice). After Connor takes his own life, the letter is found by his mother, Cynthia (six-time Oscar® nominee Amy Adams). Connor's family believes the letter means their son had found his only friend in Evan, and to console his family, Evan spins a tale of a friendship that never existed.

To celebrate the film's release, SiriusXM and Pandora announced the launch of new content for the Tony-winning Broadway phenomenon, beginning September 17th. SiriusXM's On Broadway channel and Pandora will carry specially curated content from the film and its music and cast interviews and song introductions featuring the film's stars.

"I'm so thrilled that audiences beyond Broadway will now have the chance to see this story of connection and belonging, along with its moving music, on the big screen," said Julie James, SiriusXM programming director and host on the On Broadway channel. "The songs are beautifully woven into the story and the driving force behind what makes DEH one

of the great musicals of our time. Our SiriusXM On Broadway listeners will be able to hear insights from the stars and creators of the movie, while sharing in the experience of hearing this brand-new soundtrack together."

Every hour from September 22nd through the 26th, SiriusXM's On Broadway channel will feature new music releases from the film’s soundtrack and interviews with the film's stars, including Julianne Moore and Oscar, Tony, and Grammy award-winning songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Pau. They will chat with On Broadway host Julie James about the musical's story, songs, emotional power and impact on audiences, and the show's journey from stage to screen.

Pandora will launch an original and specially curated station, Dear Evan Hansen: Get Inspired with the Cast of the Film, on September 17th, which will feature cast members of Dear Evan Hansen discussing the songs from the film's soundtrack, including Ben Platt, Julianne Moore, and Amandla Stenberg. The soundtrack to Dear Evan Hansen, from Interscope Records, will be available beginning September 24th. The film features two original songs, "A Little Closer," performed by Colton Ryan, and "The Anonymous Ones," performed by Stenberg, who co-wrote the track's lyrics and music with Pasek and Paul.
