What’s New?

Hello fellow Key Club member! This summer as a whole has been the most memorable summer I have ever experienced! It has allowed me to cherish the most incredible moments and relationships I have made for the rest of my life. Within Key Club I have had so many rewarding opportunities to learn and grow as a person and as a lieutenant governor through service events and board meetings. This Fall we will do amazing things within Key Club to build and strengthen each individual club through events such as Fall Rally and Key Leader. Division 7 I look forward to making the next couple of months astounding so that we may expand your clubs and this division to grow and prosper in not only numbers but in leadership and service to better serve your homes, schools, and communities.

March of Dimes Every minute a baby is born too soon. Every day, 72 babies die due to preterm birth complications. All year long, YOU can make a difference for all babies.

The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. Our 32nd President, Franklin D. Roosevelt, founded March of Dimes in the fight against polio. After the discovery of the polio vaccine, March of Dimes focused their efforts to improve the health of babies and has been successful with the help and enthusiasm of many grassroots volunteers.

Since 1978, Key Clubs have been making a difference for babies everywhere. Key Club members, like you, continue to support the March of Dimes all year long by hosting service projects, raising funds and educating your community about the crisis of preterm birth.

Honor the 15 million babies born too soon worldwide this Fall by Coloring Your School

Purple to help end Prematurity during Prematurity Awareness Month in November. In the Spring, continue your efforts with March for Babies.

UNICEF UNICEF, the only organization of the United Nations dedicated exclusively to children works with other United Nations bodies, governments and nongovernmental organizations to assist in children’s needs through community-based services in primary health care, basic education, and safe water and sanitation in more than 150 developing countries.

UNICEF shares the Kiwanis family’s global commitment to children and has provided its extensive resources and leadership to assist in the Worldwide Service Project to virtually eliminate Iodine Deficiency Disorder (IDD) from the globe.

Since 1994, Key Club has been Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF and over the years has raised nearly US$5 million for iodine deficiency programs worldwide and HIV and AIDS programs in Kenya and Swaziland. Now it’s helping The Eliminate Project.

ICON Recap On July 6th – July 10th Kiwanis, Circle K, and Key Club Districts from around the world gathered to celebrate 101 years of service to our homes, schools, and communities. Over 2000 Key Clubbers from around the globe gathered in Atlanta all at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis where members engaged in various activities such as sharing service project and fundraising ideas, electing next years Key Club International Board, attending useful workshops and forums, experiencing inspirational speeches, discovering new charities and organizations, and exploring Atlanta through the amazing District Tour all while creating incredible memories and relationships.

Division 7

is Jessica Bae, and the remaining International Trustees are Jeongseok Daniel Suh, Drew Valenti, Shinbee Park, Clifford Young, Audrey Dilgarde, JoJo Saunders, Tiffany Hang, Nicloe Montana, Kino-Paul, Hurylington, and William Zhang.

Overall, the 2016 Key Club International Convention crossed a century old milestone with passion, ambition, enthusiasm, and most importantly strong leadership to make a difference in the world.

New Key Club International Board Like every year your fellow Rocky Mountain District Key Club members had the opportunity to partake in voting and electing for this years new Key Club International board.

For the 2016-2017 year the Key Club International President is Devin Sun, the International Vice President is Mary Grace Lewis, our International Trustee

ICON 2016 What RMD Key Clubbers have to say about ICON…

Hello Division 7!

My name is Itzel Antillon and I am Division 8 Lieutenant Governor. On July 6-9, I along with 26 other students from the Rocky Mountain District went to International Convention in Atlanta Georgia. This experience is one that I will most definitely not forget. I got to meet many of the most dedicated 1,100 Key Clubbers from all the world including Barbados, Canada, Jamaica, the Bahamas, and many others as well. This allowed me to realize that Key Club is so much bigger than I thought, and that a lot of places have their own style of service, but we are all working on reaching one goal. That is to build our home, school, and community. We also learned about many service projects including the Thirst Project. This helps the people in rural and dry places to have the accessibility to water, which they therefore cannot have. This among many other ideas and information to bring back to your community, is one of the main reasons why going to ICON is an amazing experience. Not to mention all the fun we had as a district three days before convention touring the historic and beautiful city of Savannah Georgia.

Also, touring the world of Coke and the CNN World Headquarters in Atlanta was so much fun! This experience inspired me so much to keep on serving as many people as I can, while caring my way of life, as the Key Club motto states.

“Overall ICON was one giant life changing experience. It’s really amazing to be around so many different Key Clubbers from all corners of the globe, and to see how large the organization really is. Not only that, but you also get to see the impact Key Club is able to make throughout the world. It’s really unlike any other convention I have ever been to. Every speaker at ICON gave really amazing talks, all with different stories and backgrounds, but each had really amazing insight. It’s cool to feel like such an important part of the organization, when it comes to voting in House of Delegates. I really enjoyed helping vote on a new international board, and it was so amazing to see Audrey Dilgarde from Rocky Mountain be elected as an international trustee. Overall it’s just really inspiring to be around that many people, and really fun just to spend a week of traveling and exploring a new city with your fellow Rocky Mountain Key Clubbers!” ~ RMD Convention Chair: Garrett Like

#KCthrowback Key Club Throwback A summary of the past couple of weeks

ICON July 6th – 10th in Atlanta Georgia International Convention is Key Club International’s largest event of the year where hundreds of Key Clubbers unite to celebrate a year of service and do amazing things. Over 2,000 students and advisors gather together to introduce new programs, present awards to outstanding clubs, conduct the organization's business, attend educational workshops and elect international officers for the upcoming year.

The 73nd Annual Key Club International Convention took place in Atlanta, GA, July 6-10, 2016.
