Key Club Vocabulary

Learning some of this vocabulary will help you communicate with other clubs!

SMT: Social Media Team. This is the awesome group of people who capture the moments at DCON and occasionally have their work published in District publications. DCON: District Convention. This event is held once a year in the Rocky Mountain District. The new district board is elected and Key Cub members have an amazing weekend experience. To learn more, go here. ICON: International Convention. It's held once a year, just like DCON, but it includes every district and is twice as long. Key Clubbers meet from around the world to elect new international officers, go over accomplishments from the past year, and set policies for the upcoming year. To learn more, go here. Lt. G: Lieutenant Governor. This person serves on the district board and oversees one division within the district. They are your "go-to" for anything as a club officer. Each month, the club president should send in a monthly report to the Lt. G. Key: This means nothing. Key Club is called "Key Club" because there was a small group of boys that started the entire thing in Sacramento who called themselves the "key boys." Caucusing: A procedure of questioning that takes place when electing new members of office. Endorsement: Typically for international office. To be endorsed means that public approval of ones continuing has been declared. Business Professional: Refers to dress shirt, slacks, neck tie, sport or suit coat and appropriate shoes for males and dress or suite, skirt or slacks, blouse and appropriate shoes for females. Business Casual: Refers to slacks, collared shirt and appropriate shoes for males and slacks, skirt or skirt, blouse or collared shirt and appropriate shoes for females. Casual: Refers to shorts or jeans, collared shirts, sweatshirts or appropriate tee-shirts and casual footwear for males and shorts, skirt, skirt or jeans, collared shirt, sweatshirt or appropriate teeshirt and casual footwear for females. KEY-O-D: Key Club obsession disorder. May result in sleepless nights and random bursts of joy along with the love for Century Gothic font. May also cause friendship at first sight due to meeting other Key Clubbers. Be cautious: KEY-O-D is contagious and difficult to cure. RMD: An abbreviation for Rocky Mountain District. 2

LTG Biography

Kaitlyn Davidson ltg4@rmdkeyclub.org 719-684-3579

Hello all! My name is Kaitlyn Davidson and I am so ecstatic to be your new lieutenant governor for division 4. I plan to strengthen intra and inter club relations as well as create new ones. I have been a member of Key club since my freshman year, club board member my sophomore year, president my junior and now final year, and this is my first year as an LTG. I was drawn to Key Club at first because it honestly didn’t seem like a bigtime commitment (If I only knew how wrong that is) and I stayed and ran for elections because I saw a real organization that can make a difference and that really excited me. I am motivated by results so I will lead this division with the purpose of improvement in all aspects of our clubs. I believe that passion is what makes the difference whether you’re an athlete or an actor, and I hope that I can ignite your key club passion. I participate in cross country, swimming and track. I am senior class president, member of National Honor Society, Gay Straight Trans Alliance, and our school wellness team. I attend Manitou Springs High School. Above all though I am a key Clubber and I plan to put this organization before anything else.

Thank you for trusting that I will lead our division to improvement, Kaitlyn Davidson LTG 4

What even are districts?

District Explanations

Believe it or not but Key Club is bigger than just your high school! There are approximately 5,000 clubs in 37 counties! To help all those clubs communicate efficiently we split up into groups, the lowest division being Divisions. The Rocky Mountain District is split up into 18 Divisions spread out across Colorado, Wyoming, the panhandle of Nebraska, and part of New Mexico. Each Division is represented by a Lieutenant Governor (abbreviated as Lt. G) that serves on the District Board. Schools in the same Divisions are encouraged to participate in division wide projects together, as well as participate in division wide rallies. Contact your Lieutenant Governor for more information on these events.
