August Board Meeting Hello Division 3! I hope the start of the school year has gone well for each of you. This month our Rocky Mountain District Key Club board convened for a Board Meeting in Glenwood Springs August 11-12. Among other things, we were visited by the past governor Zack Larsen, got an international update for our international trustee Jessica Bae, prepared each of our divisions’ fall rallies, and worked on our committees. On Saturday, we collaborated with Glenwood Springs Kiwanis to run their Kiwanis Pancake breakfast; this was my highlight of the trip.

Never forget that Kiwanians are your best allies and Key Club’s parent organization.

They are more than happy to welcome us into their events and help us with what we need!

Let’s “DUE” This!

Dues are crucial to Key Club International. It is through this annual payment that our organization gets most of its funding toward helping through service around the world.

Clubs who do not pay dues by February 1st will be suspended. Moreover, if your club did not pay dues last year and does not pay them this year, your club will be considered inactive, hence you will not receive any resources from Key Club International.

Important Due Dates to Remember September 9 – Clubs may start the dues process in the Membership Update Center November 1 – Early Bird Dues deadline December 1– Regular Dues deadline December 31 – First time late notice to Key Club President and Advisors to clubs that haven’t paid dues.

January 31 – Late notice to Sponsoring Kiwanis Club and Second late notice to Key Club President and Advisors

Local Service Idea:

FOOD BANK :) Organizing a food bank at your school is a great way to keep your club active as the year goes on. It’s fun and simple!

1. Contact your school principal to get access to those who receive free and reduced-price meals.

2. Center your campaign around a long weekend or break, as these kids and their families will not be provided lunch at school those days.

3. Collect nonperishable food items 2 weeks before the holiday and fresh foods one or two days before. Get teachers to give a little extra credit to those 4. Set the food up in a specific room at your school and encourage those in need at school to collect some to bring home 

Key Leader is a three-day experiential leadership program that challenges the leader in you and helps you understand the true meaning of service.

I will be in attendance during the Windy Peak Key Leader and hope to see some Division 3 Key Clubbers there!

When and Where o October 14-16 Roundup River Ranch (Avon, CO) o October 21-23 Windy Peak (Bailey, CO) Cost o $225 - A late fee of $25 will be added if you register less than two weeks before the event.

Remember that Key Club is an organization based on collaboration. Money should not be the reason why you do not attend Key Leader, as there are many ways Key Club and Kiwanis can help you get the necessary funds. Ask your local Kiwanis club for funding and attend one of their meetings, remember the one-third rule (you pay for 1/3, your key club for 1/3, and your Kiwanis for 1/3), and fundraise through the Women’s Bean project. FALL RALLY DIVISIONS 3&15 YOU ARE INVITED! Fall Rally is an annual event that takes place in the autumn for the purpose of unifying the division, training club officers, and providing Key Clubs and Key Clubbers with the necessary resources for a successful year.
