CLASS NOTES 1960ʼs
After 39 years of teaching in New Hampshire, Laura (Morin) Cooney ʼ68 retired in June. She looks forward to more free time to visit her grandchildren in Ohio and New York. Her sixth grandchild is expected in July.
1970ʼs Bettina Brownyard
ʼ71, above, fondly remembers her time at Rivier. She retired early to enjoy time with her family— including four grandsons and one granddaughter, a horse and five dogs, and to continue her volunteer work with animal rescue. She spends summers on Shelter Island and winters in Vermont. Bettina continues to enjoy traveling with her husband Brendan.
1980ʼs Ellen Moloney ʼ80
has been named Chief Operating Officer/Senior Vice President at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Massachusetts. She has served as Senior Vice President for Outpatient Services since 2002. Ellen joined the hospital in 1997 as the Director of Clinical Ancillary Services and has been instrumental in the design and planning of new services and programs. Manon (Lawson) Angelo ʼ89 recently published the book I Found Someone to Play With. The work is a biography of former Negro Leagues catcher and outfielder Larry LeGrande. The last member of the Satchel Paige All-Stars, LeGrande played with this traveling baseball team from 1961 to 1963.
1990ʼs Rebecca Young ʼ90 has accepted the position of Assistant Director of Visitor Services at the Mystic Seaport: Museum of America and the Sea. Located in Mystic, Connecticut, it is the largest maritime museum in the world.
Anthony T. Herda ʼ93G has published an autobiography titled The Life of a Software Developer. Among other things, Anthony writes about his fond memories of Rivier and is grateful for the time he spent here. A signed copy of his book has been added to the Special Collections in Regina Library. Paul Spitale ʼ94G has been appointed to the position of Senior Vice President of Commercial Programs at Colt Defense in Hartford, Connecticut. As the new head of Commercial Programs, Paul will be responsible for leading all aspects of the commercial strategy. This includes commercial program sales, marketing, product development, and licensing. Cindy Arcieri ʼ96/ʼ04G has been appointed the Vice President of Patient Care Services/Chief Nurse Executive position at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua. Cindy is responsible for leading the nursing division in all inpatient and outpatient care; hospital service departments, centers, and home health care; and the St. Joseph School of Nursing. Mary Ellen Cooper ʼ96/ʼ03G and her sister co-founded Into Action Recovery, Inc. in an effort to fight the opiate addiction epidemic in their community. The nonprofit organization aims to open a treatment center in Tewksbury, Massachusetts or nearby community with the mission of providing a longterm educational, therapeutic, and spiritual 12-Step program for adults with opiate and/or alcohol addiction. Mary Ellen is a Nurse Practitioner at the Tewksbury Hospital.

Dr. Chrisann (Carta) Merriman ʼ96, above, is now the Director of Online Faculty Development at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. She also serves the University as Associate Professor of Marketing. Stephanie (Midolo) Vaughan ʼ96 and The Morgan Leary Vaughan Fund were awarded a grant by the Petit Family Foundation to produce their first educational initiative: a free, audio podcast series about necrotizing enterocolitis. The podcasts will be one-on-one conversations with relevant experts highlighting current prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for the disease and the search for a cure. Sarah Larson ʼ98 has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Foundation Medicine, Inc. in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Sarah joined the company in 2010 as one of its first employees and has led the human resources department since her arrival. She has contributed her expertise in strategic organizational development, employee relations, and alignment of human resources in support of the company’s rapid growth.
2000ʼs Colleen Badger Rice ʼ00 self-published her first book Rare but not Alone, Raising Kids with Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome in December 2014. She currently lives in Nashua with her husband and six children.
