National History Day

NHD is an annual competition in which Riverstone students grades 5–8 participate. This year's theme was "Rights and Responsibilities in History" For this competition, students begin with an idea for a topic, develop a research question, conduct thorough research, and create a thesis statement with supporting evidence, as the foundation for their project. Students also choose the category in which they want to compete: website, paper, exhibit, documentary, or performance. Participating in National History Day challenges students to develop 21st-century thinking skills in an authentic and meaningful way.

In the 2024-25 school year, Riverstone had 15 individuals or groups advance to the Junior State Competition and 4 individuals advance to Nationals. Those 4 students will be competing in June in Maryland.
