Mural Artist Spotlight: Caitlin McDonagh

We are all moving through our lives, looking for familiarity and closeness, whether with each other or with ourselves.

Caitlin McDonagh is a visual artist and muralist who creates intricate illustrative works that are i i ed by folklore, symbolism, and the balancing e Human vs. Natural World. The themes of ection, self-cultivation, growth, loss, and wal are woven into the worlds that she creates. oal with her artistic practice is to create her folklore; work that leaves doors open within owing the viewer to add to the stories, create own imagined landscapes, and find parts of selves within this imagery. ARTIST BIO

MURAL STATEMENT

An overarching theme within my work is the idea of connection and the various ways that we strive to resonate and find each other, often represented by the weaving ribbon-hands that are searching for each other, and meeting, often in the center of the landscape of the piece. We are all moving through our lives, looking for familiarity and closeness, whether with each other or with ourselves. "Where You Will Find Me" was painted during the first year of the pandemic, and these themes were suddenly combined with new ways of communicating and interacting with one another amidst chaos and confusion. Creating this piece in the serene environment of the River District walking path area felt like such a special way to make art during such a strange time. Being able to see the community outside, happy and connecting, even from afar, felt like the perfect environment to bring this piece to life in.

Love for River District

We absolutely love biking or walking the River District Trail We love stopping in the River District to grab some delicious takeout from the many amazing local restaurants and going to the pocket parks and piers along the river to have a picnic and watch all of the tugboats and barges going by.

- Ricky , Memorable Maids

What we like most about River District is its community of pet lovers who prioritize sustainability. Our products resonate with their values, fostering a happy, positive atmosphere throughout the neighbourhood.

- Ankit & Hanish , Fur-Ever Eco

I have busy creating my new Spring '24 collection which is available after March 24th which also includes a beautiful Special Occasion Collection which is perfect for weddings. When not in my studio, I enjoy jogging and walking with my beloved chihuahua Tyka, along the riverfront where I have the privilege of seeing amazing birds including The Great Blue Heron, beaver and so much more! I find this area's natural beauty captivating and love the welcoming community. I enjoy the town center with all the amenities including Orange Theory Fitness which I frequent regularly and some wonderful new restaurants. Can't wait for the outdoor events!

- Marianne , Art to Wear

We love our River District community (plus the dogs are a wonderful bonus) Our regulars are so lovely, and we would not have a café without our wonderful customers.

It’s a beautiful neighbourhood with so many families and it has become so much livelier since we first opened in November 2022 We love that we get to witness how River District has grown since we opened.

- Linh , Boketto Tea Bar

Living in River District is awesome for many reasons, but two things we really enjoy are the walkways and the people! We absolutely love the walkways throughout the neighborhood, especially the paths by the river where we can breathe in the fresh air and enjoy beautiful views. We also love the community vibe - it's like we're all family here. Knowing everyone and feeling that sense of togetherness is priceless. River District isn't just where we live; it's where we belong, surrounded by nature and great people.

- Sophia & Alejandro , Bailey’s pawrents

We love that River District is a community-based area with some support and love of the locals.

We hope to see the area grow and thrive as it has continued to do so We’re excited to see the community grow in the next few years.

We often perceive Vietnamese food as quick and affordable without recognizing the immense dedication and care that goes into every dish. Crafting a delicious beef broth, like the one in Pho, requires over 8 hours of meticulous simmering and constant attention to achieve that beloved golden perfection. And when it comes to spring rolls, each fresh vegetable is painstakingly hand-cut, ingredients are meticulously mixed, and every roll is made by hand, demanding significant effort and skill.

We often perceive Vietnamese food as quick and affordable without recognizing the immense dedication and care that goes into every dish.

A heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you for being a part of our journey We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love and support from our wonderful community. Your presence means the world to us, and we're so appreciative of your support for small local businesses. We look forward to serving you at DNH ❤

Hello! My name is Akie, a nurse/educator and a lifestyle content creator based in Vancouver

I recently visited the vibrant River District neighbourhood to check out Boketto Tea Bar. Several items were added to their menu for Spring and I personally love the Watermelon Yakult which is delicious and very refreshing Perfect for the warmer weather.

And of course, a visit to Boketto Tea Bar would not be complete without trying their famous mochi stuffed cookies. Everything was good but my personal favourite is the matcha flavour

I will definitely come back to try other items on Boketto's menu and explore more of what River District has to offer.

Memorable Maids is a local professional residential home cleaning service based in Vancouver, BC that has been operating for the past 10 years and has cleaned over 15,000 homes!

Our cleaning service is focused on providing a streamlined online booking process that can be completed within 60 seconds, exceptional customer service and full transparency through flat-rate pricing and individual checklists left after each clean.

All of our professional cleaning staff members are fully insured and bonded, background checked and undergo our rigorous interview and training process where only 1 out of 70 candidates make the cut.

We pride ourselves on providing a consistent, high-quality cleaning experience which includes a whole home cleaning based on our detailed cleaning checklists. Our services include regular maintenance cleanings, deep cleanings and movein/out cleanings.

River District residents can book a deep cleaning between April 1st - April 30th using the discount code to receive 20% off ($70 - $140 value). Only 10 discount codes available, first come first serve, offer expires April 30, 2024.

Discount code: RDSPRING20

Regular maintenance cleanings are recommended for homeowners who would like to keep their homes dust free and clean on a regular basis (most of our clients book monthly or bi-weekly). Deep cleaning service is recommended for homeowners who haven’t been able to clean their home on a regular basis (at least once a month) and thus extra attention is spent in the bathrooms and kitchen areas, wiping frequentlyoverlooked items like light switches, vacuuming underneath and behind furniture, and more We highly recommend this service to all first-time recurring clients on their initial cleaning.

Move-in/out cleaning service is our most detailed service available and recommended for tenants, property managers, realtors or homeowners who are in the middle of a residential move and want to leave their old home as clean as possible or, on the other hand, arrive at a clean and fresh new home.

Lastly, we offer a 200% guarantee on all of our cleaning services - if you’re not happy with your cleaning, we will come out and re-clean on us. If you still don’t think we did a good enough job to recommend us to your friends, we’ll refund your money.

Top Tips Fo

Cleaning & De

1. Divide your home by ro

For many homeowners, spring cle into achievable tasks by area to pr rooms at once will only overwhelm you finish. Work your way throug excellent for decluttering too!

2. Section the room and go left to right, top to bottom

3. Do a little every day

Break the room up into sections - counter area, dining area, etc. You don’t need to do things twice because you know you have already cleaned under, around and on top of it. Start in one corner of the room and look up. Work your way down and move clockwise through the room. The hard part of spring cleaning is catching up with overdue cleaning tasks and getting rid of the clutter accumulated during the year. To prevent chores from piling up, clean a little now and then. Instead of a week-long cleaning once a year, having a short monthly deepclean will work better To take care of clutter before it becomes a problem, avoid holding objects "just in case" and apply the "one in, one out" rule

4. Make it a team effort

Spring cleaning is perhaps the most challenging household task you are going to face throughout the year. Don't do it all by yourself! Spring cleaning is the perfect time to involve every household member, especially when it comes to decluttering their own spaces. Having a friend helping you with sentimental clutter can make it easier. Try it out!

5. Hire the professionals

Or you can hire a professional to help you! Professional cleaners might be what you need. Memorable Maids services the River District area with its high-quality deep cleaning service, perfect for your spring cleaning. You don't need to worry about a thing; we bring the cleaning supplies, the skills, and the right attitude The best part is that getting your quote and booking a cleaning only takes a few minutes.
