We love the convenience of everything in the area! We’ve been here for almost 5 years and it’s really great to see the amenities that have popped up From restaurants with great food, to groceries, coffee shops and Shoppers Drug Mart, it’s been so handy having everything at our doorstep, especially when becoming new parents with the amount of times we’ve forgotten to pick up diapers or wipes! Chester’s favourite is having Bosley’s right downstairs, it’s like living in paradise!
Since moving to River District in December 2023, I’ve really come to love this growing community along the Fraser River It has everything - great walking trails, parks, and a vibrant Town Centre with grocery stores, restaurants, and the local food trucks There’s even a playground and plenty of green spaces for kids to play It’s perfect for young families, professionals, and retirees looking to downsize But what really makes it special is the friendly neighbours and strong sense of community Plus, Bella, our 7-year-old Cavapoo, loves how dogfriendly the area is, which makes our walks even better!
We gathered broken branches from the beach and brought along some rope and a couple of potted flowers to begin with. Just like that, it was enough to bring joy. Soon, the community embraced it. Neighbours added their own touches, from tiny decorations and colourful embellishments to a mailbox where people began exchanging letters Every visit held a new surprise It was heartwarming to pass by and see children playing, couples lingering, and dogs sniffing This is what we, the bears, love most about the River District Although being by the river and surrounded by abundant nature is a privilege, it’s the community spirit that the bears cherish most It is a daily reminder that anything, when shared, can grow into something beautiful and meaningful

West Coast Wild Foods loves partnering with River District Living magazine! As a community-focused publication, it keeps residents updated on local news and what’s new in the neighbourhood. This collaboration allows us to connect directly with our customers, sharing our passion for sustainable, high-quality wild foods and strengthening our ties with the community we proudly serve. It’s all about staying close to home.
My partner and I love the River District for its blend of natural beauty and modern-day convenience. We enjoy being able to walk our pup, Mookie, along the river trail on a daily basis, while being in close proximity (whether on foot or by car) to many shops and restaurants. We have met so many amazing residents that we stop and chat with around the neighbourhood, and everyone has that shared sense of community pride. While there is still a lot of room for growth (figuratively and literally), we are excited to see more amenities, for humans and dogs alike, coming in the near future!
We love and are grateful for River District's spirit of connection It is a thoughtfully designed neighbourhood where nature, community, and intentional living are in harmony. Being part of this vibrant, growing community inspires us to share our wellness philosophy with warmth and authenticity to this receptive, forward-thinking audience. River District Living magazine is a genuine celebration of community, creativity, and connection. Its thoughtful storytelling and transparent values mirror our own - championing local voices, mindful living, and meaningful experiences. We're proud to align with a publication that uplifts its readers with authenticity and a true sense of belonging.
What I love about the River District is its refreshing approach to community living. It blends art, nature, and everyday life in a way that feels warm and inviting. The thoughtful design encourages connection - with others, with the environment, and with creativity - making it a truly special place to walk, reflect, and feel at home.

“Hello dear friend, I am Cas Nahui”
I’m a Mexican dichromatic illustrator, muralist, architect, and designer based in Vancouver, BC. I was born in Oaxaca and raised in Mexico City, and my work is deeply influenced by the philosophy, humour, and traditions of my culture. My illustrations combine bold colour palettes with playful symbolism, blending ancestral concepts with everyday joy and a touch of chaos.
I don’t really consider myself an artist - I see myself more as a designer I’m not trying to create “art” in the traditional sense I’m just experimenting, playing, and following whatever sparks my curiosity As long as I enjoy the process and laugh along the way, the result becomes just another step in my design journey
Cas Nahui is the name I chose to represent my illustrations. CAS comes from the initials of my name, reflecting my Latin-Mexican identity. NAHUI is the name given to me by my culture, connecting me to my indigenous roots as a Tolteca-Mexihca. This name allows me to honour both the personal and ancestral parts of who I am.
WORDS & ARTWORK BY
CAS NAHUI
My only real goal with my illustrations is to tell the truth about my culture - to honour it, defend it, and celebrate it, all while having fun Whether I’m painting a mural, sketching ideas, or exploring new mediums, I hope my work creates a space where tradition and joy live side by side

HUEY TONANTZIN TLALLI COATLICUE
(Our Great and Dear Mother Earth Who Wears a Skirt of Snakes)
The title of this piece is in my original language, Nahuatl - one of the two main languages spoken on this continent before the European invasion. In our culture, the primary goal has always been to preserve life and the natural world.
Following the theme of the mural movement “Garden Path,” I created a landscape mural that carries an implicit metaphor within its silhouette
The meaning behind the metaphor:
HUEY TONANTZIN TLALLI (Our Great Mother Earth) represents the Earth as nature itself - where rocks, air, animals, trees, and sky exist in perfect harmony. She gave us life from her warm womb, and as our mother, she deserves to be protected and honoured.
COATLICUE (The One Who Wears a Skirt of Snakes) symbolizes the mountains, which appear intertwined like a pair of serpents, forming the shape of a skirt This ancient image reflects both strength and creation, rooted in the sacred feminine energy of the land
The mural invites reflection on our relationship with nature - not as something to control, but as something to care for. Through this work, I hope to share the indigenous worldview that sees all living things as interconnected, part of a greater balance.
The mural invites reflection on our relationship with nature - not as something to control, but as something to care for. Through this work, I hope to share the indigenous worldview that sees all living things as interconnected, part of a greater balance.
In the end, we have only one Mother Earth, and she is the only true path to a perfect garden

JUSTIN MORTON & LYNN HEMSLEY
I first stepped onto my mat in an intensely hot yoga room almost 15 years ago to develop a consistent fitness routine A few years later, I wanted to explore other forms of yoga and immediately connected with the Hatha practice I enjoyed the steady hold in each posture that allowed me to tune into my body, breath, and mind. In 2018, I decided to deepen my knowledge and practice by signing up for the 200-hour teacher training program at YYoga and was fortunate enough to be guided by some of Vancouver’s best teachers. Today, I bring my passion for the Hatha practice to students at the YYoga studio in Richmond, as well as the River District community.
I have been a River District resident for about 4 years and love seeing how much it has grown in such a short period of time. As a part of that community growth, in 2023, the Club Central team wanted to introduce a weekly affordable yoga class available to all the residents (and their guests) of One/Two/Three Town Centre and Quartet as a strata initiative Between myself and another local yoga teacher, Nycki Basra, we run the class almost every Monday at 7pm inside Club Central’s multipurpose room The yoga class is accessible for all levels: it can be an opportunity to simply stretch and unwind after your workday, or it can be a bit more intense and challenging, as modifications of various difficulties are offered throughout the class The great thing about these smaller semi-private classes is that you do not have to feel pressured to do every single pose or feel restricted from trying new things –you do what feels right for your body!
I update the class schedule at the beginning of every month on the registration website and share monthly flyers on social media outlets.
I believe that yoga is for everyone and every body, so join us on the mat and enjoy calm breaths and mindful movements that complement whatever your fitness journey looks like You can also follow me on Instagram @lemonxiv for teaching updates as well as some travel content from my day job in the aviation industry!

Scentuals isn’t just clean beauty - it’s a sensory experience for inside out radiance From the scent of the first pump to the feel of that post-ritual glow, Scentuals is comprised of nature-rich essentials for revitalizing self-care.
In 2008, Scentuals was born from a profound personal reckoning. When founder Mai Mowrey’s brother was diagnosed with cancer, it reshaped her understanding of health, wellness, and the silent risks woven into everyday products. As he underwent treatment, Mai began to scrutinize the ingredients in the essentials they had always trusted. What she found was unsettlingstrong chemicals and toxins that had no place in a healing environment. In response, she set out to create something better: skincare rooted in nature, guided by integrity, and made safe for even the most vulnerable.
In an industry too often driven by trends and marketing claims, Scentuals stands as a quiet rebellion: a brand built on transparency and a deep respect for nature’s wisdom For those navigating sensitivities, health concerns, or simply striving for a cleaner way of living, Scentuals offers more than just skincare - it offers peace of mind
As a Canadian leader in natural, science-backed personal care, Scentuals is dedicated to creating consciously crafted products that nourish the body, mind, and spirit. Each formulation is rooted in efficacy and the core values: ingredient transparency, sustainability, and holistic wellness. All products are at least 98% of natural origin, suitable for the whole family, top to bottom. From nourishing hair care to soothing facial care and repairing body essentials, there is something special for everyone and every need.
As a Canadian leader in natural, science-backed personal care, Scentuals is dedicated to creating consciously crafted products that nourish the body, mind, and spirit.
The brand is proudly cruelty-free, ensuring that no product or ingredient is ever tested on animals - a standard upheld not just in practice, but in principle. This dedication to ethical formulation is further reinforced by internationally recognized ISO certifications, which reflect Scentuals’ rigorous quality control, sustainable manufacturing processes, and unwavering commitment to safety and transparency. From sourcing to production, every step is strengthened by the belief that skincare should do no harm - to people, animals, or the planet.

Once upon a time, in the special neighbourhood of the River District that I proudly call home, there was a hidden gem by the river at Fraser Foreshore Trail On summer Sundays, my family and I loved to begin the day with a slow al fresco breakfast.
In the summer of 2023, we built a tiny house out of sticks for our little one and her beloved animal figures. It was just a simple idea, but it sparked curiosity. People walking by stopped, smiled, and chatted. The house didn’t last forever, but it lasted long enough to make memories before fall came along.
Neighbours added their own touches, from tiny decorations and colourful embellishments to a mailbox where people began exchanging letters. Every visit held a new surprise.
Fast forward to the summer of 2024, the idea came back to us, but this time, more ambitious. With Grandpa and Grandma visiting during those happy, sun-drenched days, we built what we named the Bear's House We heard others lovingly call it Fairy Hut or Little People’s House That’s exactly where magic lives What began as a family project that filled our Sunday mornings (and our hearts) quickly extended to the whole community Once again, it sparked curiosity as people walking by stopped, smiled, and chatted
We gathered broken branches from the beach and brought along some rope and a couple of potted flowers to begin with. Just like that, it was enough to bring joy. Soon, the community embraced it. Neighbours added their own touches, from tiny decorations and colourful embellishments to a mailbox where people began exchanging letters. Every visit held a new surprise. It was heartwarming to pass by and see children playing, couples lingering, and dogs sniffing.
As the seasons changed, so did the Bear’s House. Fall brought golden leaves and pumpkins. Winter arrived with holiday decorations, a Christmas mailbox, and a tree. Snow dressed the Bear's House in white, and Valentine’s Day added red and pink hearts Spring brought tulips in new pots, and here we are in fall again
It has been over a year since this little corner of wonder became part of our community We can't quite believe it's still there But now, we've heard the Bear’s House might be slated for removal
This is where the story can grow again. If you know anything about it or want to help protect it in any way, let's come together as a community one more time.
Because sometimes (in fact, most of the time), it's the little things that matter the most. Special thanks to Ms. S., Ms. M. and Ms. C., lovely neighbours, whose kindness goes far beyond simply supporting the Bear's House.
Truly, Your neighbours!

In a world where dog safety is more important than ever, PredatorBWear has emerged as a bold innovator. This Canadian-based company is redefining how we protect our beloved pets, offering practical, stylish, and even life-saving solutions Their standout productsspiked harnesses and LED-lit gear - are giving dog owners peace of mind in the face of growing threats, from wildlife to city streets
At the heart of PredatorBWear is one goal: to keep dogs safe Whether you're walking through urban neighbourhoods or hiking forested trails, dogs face risks - coyote encounters, off-leash aggressive dogs, or even being overlooked in the dark That’s where PredatorBWear steps in with cutting-edge gear that doesn’t just look good - it works
The signature PredatorBWear spiked harness is more than a fashion statement - it's a protective barrier designed to deter attacks. Carefully positioned, flexible spike strips protect vulnerable areas like the neck and back, discouraging other animals from biting or pouncing
The harnesses are lightweight, comfortable, and made with high-quality materials to ensure your dog can move naturally while staying protected They’ve been praised by customers for giving small to medium-sized dogs the confidence to go on adventures without fear
But here’s where it gets fun: you can bling it out. For dogs with flair (or owners with a love of sparkle), PredatorBWear offers customization options. Add crystals, shimmer, or bold colours - because protection shouldn’t be boring.
While the spiked harnesses guard against physical threats, the PredatorBWear LED harnesses focus on visibility Built with high-visibility LED lighting, these harnesses make your dog easy to spot in the darkwhether it’s a late-night potty break, an early morning run, or camping under the stars
The LED harnesses help prevent accidents and make sure your pup is always seen by drivers, cyclists, or other pedestrians And just like the spiked versions, they’re built for comfort and durability
What sets PredatorBWear apart is their commitment to blending protection, function, and fashion. Dogs shouldn't have to compromise between looking cute and being safe These harnesses are eye-catching, protective, and customizable - perfect for pet parents who value both peace of mind and personality
Too many dog owners have experienced the fear and heartbreak of an unexpected attack or accident. PredatorBWear offers an affordable, effective solution that can prevent injury - or even save a life. It’s more than gear. It’s armour, it’s visibility, and it’s a statement that says, “My dog matters.”

Chester (4) & Charles (2) are 2 English Bulldogs with 2 very big, but different personalities They tend to capture a lot of laughs and smiles when they’re out walking together Chester absolutely loves people and will immediately plonk himself down on the sidewalk and start shaking his butt for belly-rubs, while Charles eagerly waits to get back to walking. Both dogs came to their Pawma during difficult times in her life so they are very special, extra loving and super attentive dogs who always know when somebody could do with a pick-me-up. They never fail to bring a smile to somebody’s face.
Chester’s favourite activity is sun-bathing, he finds whatever sliver of sunshine and will plonk himself down to catch the rays, whether it be on the patio or belly-up on the sun lounger. Charles’ favourite hobby is disturbing Chester’s sunbathing, stealing his toys, and entertaining his human baby sister.
A fun fact not too many know, is that the boys are halfbrothers! Chester is shorter and stubbier, while Charles is tall and slim, despite this, you can see many similarities in their faces and fur pattern
Despite the 2 dogs always keeping us on our toes, we are so blessed and happy to have them in our lives They always bring a smile to our faces and make us laugh, even when they’re up to no good We always say, we wouldn’t trade in the chaos they cause for anything in the world.
