Good afternoon and welcome to all of Queens Park Crescents players, officials and supporters and also todays referee Darren Knox to Gold Street for todays Bedfordshire County Football League Premier Division clash.
It’s been a few weeks of mixed fortunes on the road for us, with tough losses away to Elstow and Marston. In both games, we felt we deserved more, having created numerous chances but failing to capitalise on them. The narrow margins of defeat have been frustrating, especially whenweknowthepotentialandeffortwe’veputin Thesematcheshave been learning experiences, highlighting areas we need to improve and theimportanceofmaintainingfocusthroughoutthegame.
However, our recent victory at Flitwick was a testament to the team’s resilience and character that we continue to develop. Coming from 2-1 down to win, despite not playing at our best, showed the fighting spirit withinthesquad Thedeterminationtoturnthegamearoundandsecure thewinwaswhatweneededtoshowourselvesthatwecancomeback fromdifficultsituationsandshouldn’twriteourselvesoff.
Thisweek,wefaceQueensParkinamust-wingameagainstasideyetto start their season. It’s crucial for us to capitalise on this opportunity and secure a positive result. Post-WW1,Riseleyjoinedthesingle-leagueShelton&DistrictLeague.Witharosterpredominantlysourcedfrom thevillage,Riseleyboastedahighlysuccessfulteam.Notably,the1920/21championship-winninglineupfeatured anunexpectedstandout–Habanananda,anoverseasplayerfromSiaminthevillageattendingalanguage schoolconductedbyTheReverendDoddsofRiseleychurch.
Addingafestivetwisttotheirjourney,afriendlymatchwasscheduledonChristmasDay1922againstSiamese gentlemenfromthelanguageschool.Thegameconcludedwithadecisive6-1victoryforRiseley,markinga specialmomentintheteam'shistory.
In1925,theclubre-enteredtheBedford&DistrictLeague,adoptinganewidentityasthe"RiseleyStars."The RiseleyStars,showcasingthreeteamsacrossvariousagegroups,fromtheelementarysidecompetinginthe NorthBedfordshireLeaguetotheseniorfirstteamcompetingwithprowessinBedford&DistrictLeagueDivision4. RiseleycontinuedtoexcelinDivision4untiltheleaguefacedanothersuspensionin1939,thistimeduetothe onsetofWorldWarII.

Despiteanupliftofwomenplayingsportacrossalllevels,atthetimeoftheevent,only 2%ofthegroundsmanagementsector,whichisresponsibleformaintainingthe nation’spitches,wasmadeupofwomen. Forsporttofunctionsmoothly,it’sessentialthatpitchesandgrassplayingsurfaces arewell-maintainedtoensurematchescantakeplaceandplayersafetyis maximised,andtheNorthLondonderbymadefortheperfectplatformtohosta showcaseoffemalegroundsprofessionalsandhighlightgroundsmanagementasa viablecareerpath.
Thethirteentrailblazingwomencamefromdifferentvenuesacrossavarietyofsport settingsandeducationalfacilities,showingthebreadthofcareersavailableinthe groundsmanagementindustry.

Cranfield United's lead at the head of the Premier Division supported by Sportsform league table is now down to a single point after they lost their season's 100% record when held to a 2-2 home draw by Biggleswade FC Reserves. Jake Doherty plus an own goal marking their scoresheet with The FC replies came via a brace for Temilola Akinbusoye. Closing the gap on them and now in second spot are last season's champions Caldecote who retained their season's 100% home record with a 2-1 victory over Biggleswade United Reserves. thanks to goals from Lloyd Jones and Sonny Newton-Coates whilst Seyram Hammond hit the United reply.
Dropping from second spot into third place are AFC Oakley who were held to a 1-1 draw at Crawley Green Development. Kingsley Gibbons marking the Green scoresheet against an AFC reply from James Box. Whilst fourth spot now belongs to Elstow Abbey after they shared the points from a 2-2 home draw against Totternhoe Reserves Lewis Parkin and Joel Simpson marking the Abbey scoresheet with Shazan Idress and Jazhai Randino replying for the visitors.
Elsewhere, Riseley Sports claimed the lone away victory of the day in winning 3-2 at Flitwick Town who still await their first point of the season. Mitchell Crook plus goals from the penalty spot from Alex Taylor and Lewis Donald onlt being replied to by Town's Filimon Florin and Harmer Hankey-Billy
