After three weeks on the road, we’ve experienced the full spectrum of results—tough battles against Queens Park and Totternhoe, followed by a commanding 3-0 victory at Shefford. These away trips have tested our depth, but they’ve also provided a valuable opportunity to see the hunger and talent coming through from the young Kimbolton players, who are makingastrongcaseforfirst-teamaction.

Awarmwelcometotheplayers,coaches,officials andsupportersofAFCOakleyforthisevening’s game Ourvisitorstodayhaveenjoyedanexcellent runofformin2025andlookoncoursetobecome thisseason’sPremierDivisionchampions Their consistencyoverthisperiodhasenabledthemto catchandmoveaheadoftheteamswholedthe divisionduringthefirsthalfoftheseason Although theyareourlocalrivals,weextend ourcongratulationstoAFCOakleyandeveryonewho hascontributedtotheirsuccessthisseason.
WhenwewerefirstpromotedtothePremierDivision in1995,weenjoyedgoodresultsagainstOakleybut inrecentyearsourvisitorshaveoftencomeouton topinthislocalderby.Wewerewell-beateninlast season’sgamesbuttheteamcompetedwell againstthemintheawayfixtureinOakley.
Despitethelocalrivalry,therehavebeen connectionsbetweenthevillagesandourclubsover theyears.Twooftonight’sopponents,JoelandZach Ives,alsohavestrongfamilyconnectionswith RiseleySports Theirgrandfather(AndyJackson) playedfortheclubinthe1970sandwithRobin Gardener,ranthefirstyouthfootballcoachinginthe villagewhichcontributedseveralplayerstoour successfulteamsinthe1980sand1990s Their unclesbothplayedfortheclubasteenagersbefore successfulcareersinprofessionalfootball,Matthew asaplayerandTomasaclubphysioTheirfather PaulIves,afastandskillfulwinger,starredinourcup andleaguewinningteamsin1992and1995

Today,itprovidesfootballopportunitiesfor youngandold,boastingover450 registeredplayersacross25teams
AFCOakley’srootstracebacktothe1972/73 seasonwhenfootballinOakleybeganto thrive.Theclub,originallyasmallvillage team,soonbecameafocalpointforlocal footballenthusiasts.Competinginthe lowertiersoftheBedfordshireCounty FootballLeague,theclublaidthe groundworkforfuturesuccesses.
Theclub’searlyyearsweremarkedbya deepsenseofcommunityinvolvementand apassionforthegame Playerswereoften localladswhogrewupinthevillage, fosteringatight-knitteamspiritthatwas reflectedintheirperformances.Oakley Sportsenjoyedmoderatesuccess,with severalpromotionsandcuprunsthat galvanisedlocalsupport.
In2016,theclubrebrandedasAFCOakley, markinganeweraofprofessionalismand ambition.UndertheAFCOakleybanner,the clubcontinuedtobuildonitslegacy, focusingonbothcompetitivesuccessand communityengagement.Theclub’shome kleySports&SocialClub

AFCOakleyisbasedatOakleySports& SocialClub,afamily-friendlyvenuewitha deephistorywithinthevillage Theclub’s currentlocationhasevolvedsignificantly overtime:
1897:Thesitewasoriginallyacowfieldwith apond,laterbecominghometotheOakley Cricketteam.
1979:Villagersraisedfundstopurchasea woodenbuildingfromBedfordRugbyClub, whichtheyreassembledtocreate changingroomsandasmallclubhouse, leadingtothefoundingofOakleySports& SocialClub.
1981:Footballteamsbeganplayingatthe club,pavingthewayfortheintegrationof juniorteamswithseniorsquads
1985:WithsupportfromCharlesWells Brewery,amodernclubhousewasbuilt
2009:Majorrenovationstookplace, includingthecreationofacateringkitchen andanewbar,ensuringahigh-quality experienceforplayersandsupportersalike.
