WoottonBlueCrossFootballClub establishedin1887namereportedlycame fromthedisbandedHitchinBlueCross, whosemanagerjoinedthenewclubin Wootton Theclubbeganitsjourneyinthe BedfordandDistrictLeague,whereithoned itsskillsandbuiltafoundationforfuture success.
In1946,WoottonBlueCrossjoinedtheSouth MidlandsLeague,swiftlymakinganimpact bywinningtheleaguetitleinthe1947–48 seasonandfinishingrunners-upin1949–50.Theirsuccesscontinuedastheyjoined theUnitedCountiesLeaguein1954, clinchingleaguetitlesin1967–68and1969–70.In1972,theywerepromotedtothenewly formedUCLPremierLeague,markinga significantmilestoneintheclub'shistory.
The1960swereagoldeneraforWootton BlueCross,astheywontheHinchingbrooke Cupfourtimes.Undertheleadershipof Chairman/ManagerDougFieldandcaptain PhilBurraway,theteamsecuredthe BedfordshireSeniorCupinthe1970–71 seasonbydefeatingLeightonTown1–0at KenilworthRoad.TheSeniorCuptriumph wasrepeatedinthe2000–01seasonunder ManagerJonTaylor.
In2001,formerLutonTownbossLilFuccillo joinedthecoachingstaff,leadingtheteam toaten-matchwinningstreakandastrong leagueposition Despiteamid-season slumpduetoinjuriesandillnesses,the teamfinishedfifth.

Fuccillo'sdeparturein2003tojoin PeterboroughUnitedwasfollowedby BobbyRobertstakingover.Thatseason,the clubenjoyedanexcitingrunintheFAVase, reachingthefourthroundbeforenarrowly losing2–1inextratimetoeventualwinners WhitleyBay.Theteamalsofinishedthirdin theleagueandwontheHinchingbrooke Cuponceagain
Thedepartureofkeyplayersandmanager KennyDavidsonledtoachallengingperiod forWoottonBlueCross.Reservemanager PhilSilvestrysteppedin,maintainingthe club'spositioninthePremierDivisionwitha youngsquad.Despiteastrongstartinthe 2006–07season,theteamfinishedninth. The2007–08seasonsawtheclubstruggle withfourdifferentmanagersandultimately facerelegationafter38yearsinthePremier Division.
In2008–09,long-servingphysioMel Robertstookoverasmanager,assistedby captainScottMcGregorascoach Despite apromisingstart,aneight-gamewinless streaksawtheclubnarrowlyavoid relegation.Ex-playerAndyArnoldtookthe managerialhelmforthe2009–10season, bringinginCalumDavenporttobolsterthe squad.Davenportlaterbecamethefirstteamcoachforthe2011–12season

CountyLeague.Despitethechallenges posedbytheCovid-19pandemic,Hall successfullyguidedtheteamoutofDivision 2andintoDivision1.In2023,SteveMarshtook overthemanagerialreins.
Asignificantdevelopmentin2019wasthe introductionofWoottonBlueCross'sfirst Ladies’footballteam,managedbyJeremy Hall CompetingintheBedsandHertsLadies League,theteamachievedconsecutive promotions,earningaspotintheEastern RegionWomen’sFootballLeagueforthe 2023-24season.Additionally,aLadies’ reserveteamwasintroducedinthe2023-24 season,providingapathwayforyounggirls inthevillagetopursuetheirpassionfor football.

AmidstWorldWarII,Riseleyengagedinfriendlymatcheswithneighbouringvillages Notably,thevillagehosted Italianprisonersofwar(POW),billetedonlocalfarmsandfromthe72POWcampatDucksCrossinColmworth ManyofthematchesinvolvedtheseItalianplayers,withrumourscirculatingthattwoorthreeofthemhad proudlyrepresentedtheirnationalteambeforethewar
In1951,apivotalmomentunfoldedasRiseleytransitionedfromtheiroriginalhomegroundatTheButtstothe brand-newRiseleyPlayingFieldonGoldStreet TheinstallationofgoalpostsmarkedthebeginningonApril14th, withRiseley'sinauguralmatchagainstlocalrivalsSharnbrookresultinginaresounding7-1victory Theofficial unveilingoftheplayingfieldtookplaceonSaturday,September20th,1952,gracedbythepresenceoftheHon LordLukeofPavenham
BeforeTheButtsera,RiseleynavigatedtheirmatchesatLodgeFarmonBowersLane,sharingthespacewiththe villagecricketclubandevenutilisingacowfield.
Facingalimitednumberofparticipants,Riseleyexclusivelyfieldedajuniorteam,activelyparticipatinginthe BedfordYouthLeagueSection1(Under18)from1952to1953.Despitetheirefforts,theclubencounteredpersistent challenges,leadingtotheirwithdrawalfromtheleaguein1955duetoadecliningplayercount.Thisdecisionleft Riseleywithoutrepresentationinanyleaguesforthesubsequentfourseasons,navigatingaperiodofstrategic reevaluation.

With morning league leaders Cranfield United Reserves sitting the afternoon out they now find themselves dropping the table into second spot to be replaced by AFC Oakley who ran out 5-1 home winners over the previously unbeaten Elstow Abbey Chisom Amadi and Omojiseoluna Bankrole with braces plus a single goal from Joel Ives bringing up the nap hand against a lone Abbey reply from Wesley Lewis. Whilst Caldecote missed the chance to climb to the head of the standings when beaten 4-3 at Wootton Blue Cross who now occupy fourth spot. Keaton Marsh, Noah Marsh, Callum Myers and Stefan Finch all found the back of the net for the Blue Cross against replies via Sonny Newton-Coated, Liam Beech and Giuseppe Follano.
In fifth spot are the still 100% Marston Shelton Rovers who were 3-2 home winners over Totternhoe Reserves Harry Baker, Sam Smith and Zachary Wilson on the Rovers scoresheet against visitors replies via Jordan Knight and Filip Pokorny. Whilst just goal difference behind in sixth place are Riseley Sports who retained their 100% home record in beating Queens Park Crescents 31. James Cooke and two goals from Alex Taylor doing the damage against a Crescents reply from Haseeb Fariao.
Elsewhere, Biggleswade FC Reserves picked up their first home win of the season 4-1 over Crawley Green Development who still await their first victory of the season. Callum Saunders, Ben Voka, Thomas Bishop and Jack Weaves all found the back of the net. against a lone Green reply from Zepplin Macdonald. A first win of the season that still awaits both Shefford Town & Campton Reserves and Flitwick Town who drew 1-1.
