chological operations and civil-military operations activities, as well as related courses and trainings in support of the Philippine Army mission. He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1987. The 47-year-old Col. Sobejana has garnered a number of awards and medals in the pursuit of his military duty. Topping these awards is the Medal for Valor, which he earned while he and his platoon and troops form other units fought against 150 Abu Sayyaf members at Sitio Caro, Barangay Lower Kapayawan, Isabela, Basilan in January 1995. Cut off from supporting units, then Capt. The Creed

2. What it is not: Catechesis should neatly distinguish faith in the three Persons of God from belief in the authority of the Church. This theological nuance, which is unambiguously expressed in Latin, is not clearly translated in most modern languages. Our faith in the Holy Trinity is absolute subjection of creatures to the Creator. This, obviously, is not what we mean when we declare that we believe in the Church.

ern languages generally do not have this Latin precision of ac and et. The Latin text affirms that at Holy Mass, there is only one sacrifice, the sacrifice of Christ, which is sacramentally offered by the faithful through the hands of the priest. According to the teaching of Vatican II (SC 48), quoting the Council of Trent, “By offering the Immaculate Victim, not only through the hands of the priest, but also with him, they [the faithful] should learn to offer themselves as well.” There is only one sacrifice, but there are two roles in its offering: that of the priest who offers as ordained minister, and that of the faithful who take part in the offering through the ministry of the priest. 2. What it is not. The phrase “my sacrifice and yours” is ambiguous, should not be interpreted as if there were two sacrifices, one offered by the priest (Christ’s own), and the other by the faithful (the spiritual offering of themselves), which they unite with that of Christ. Such interpretation is not warranted by sound theology. There are not two sacrifices but one. However, in order that the sacrifice of Christ may bear fruit in the lives of the faithful, they should join their daily sacrifices with his.

knowledge the nature and authority of the Church and accept its teaching,” or in the case of the Nicene Creed, “I acknowledge that the Church is one, holy, catholic and apostolic.” In the Latin text, the infinitive esse is implied: Credo Ecclesiam esse unam, sanctam, catholicam et apostolicam. The basic grammatical structure of the Creed should consist of the following complete sentences: I believe in one God…; I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ…; I believe in the Holy Spirit…; I believe the one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church; I confess one baptism…; and I look forward to the resurrection…

“Pray, brethren (brothers and sisters), that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the almighty Father”. 1. What it is. The Latin text says meum ac vestrum sacrificium. The conjunctive ac (or atque) in Latin joins together verbs, nouns, pronouns, adverbs and adjectives in order to say that they are one and the same: mea ac vestra domus means “my house, which is also your house” or in short “our house.” On the other hand, the conjunctive et enumerates: mea et vestra domus means “I have my house, and you have your house.” ModDEED OF EXTRAJUDICIAL SETTLEMENT OF ESTATE AMONG HEIRS AND SALE
