What It Means to Be aN RGS Scholar
Scholars contribute actively to school life. They lead, perform, compete, create, mentor, and inspire. In return, they receive tailored support, enrichment, and recognition.
EVERY SCHOLAR’S JOURNEY IS UNIQUE AND PERSONAL
Our Scholarship & Talent Development Programme is designed to recognise and nurture student talent in the arts, sport, leadership, academics and beyond.
Rooted in the values of Commitment, Growth and Excellence , our scholars become part of a culture that celebrates talent and supports ambition in a community where every child belongs, and every voice matters.
We are proud to offer a structured, supportive, and aspirational programme that rewards dedication as much as natural ability. All our scholars, across every discipline, share the same values:
Commitment – showing up, putting in the effort, and supporting others.
Growth – having a mindset that embraces challenge and progress.
Excellence – striving for the highest standards.
Nurturing Commitment. Supporting Growth. Inspiring Excellence.
The programme emphasizes commitment as much as talent, rewarding students who work hard and contribute positively. By upholding these values, the scholarship framework nurtures a culture of personal excellence and leadership in co-curricular life. Sport at RGS is a journey of growth - physical, mental and personal. As a Sports Scholar, you will develop your performance through expert coaching, specialised programmes, and a culture that champions teamwork and resilience.
This year, our Sports Scholars have taken part in exceptional experiences that reflect the ambition and quality of sport at RGS. Masterclasses have included netball with England’s Pamela Cookey, rugby coaching from Sam Warburton, hockey goalkeeping with Olympian Ollie Payne, and elite fixtures and performances at venues including StoneX Stadium, and still to come The Oval and Wimbledon. Our pupils have trained alongside international hockey players, competed in the SSSL Schools Swimming Super League, and benefitted from a growing network of professional partnerships. These include Dorking Wanderers FC, Holcombe Hockey Club, Surrey County Cricket Club, Reigate Priory Cricket Club, London Pulse Netball, Harlequins, and most recently, Chelsea Football Club. These opportunities give our scholars the confidence, insight and inspiration to aim higher and grow as both athletes and leaders.

RGS is different to other schools. A scholarship at RGS is an invitation, not a burden or a set of conditions. It is a recognition of potential and a chance to grow with support, encouragement and a culture of excellence.
Sport Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate ability, potential, and a love of being part of a team. Scholars are invited to make the most of the many opportunities on offer - from performance coaching and mentoring to small group sessions, leadership experiences and elite events. They play an active part in school sport and bring with them a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a willingness to grow. We simply ask that parents support their child’s full participation in the sporting life of the school. Scholars are never limited by their award, we recognise that interests and ambitions may evolve, and we encourage them to try new things along the way. What does remain constant is the support of our expert staff, who will nurture each scholar’s commitment and continue to drive ambition, confidence and enjoyment throughout their time at RGS.
At Reigate Grammar School, we believe every child should be seen, celebrated and stretched to reach their full potential. Our Scholarship Programme offers talented children the chance to flourish in an environment that combines academic ambition with individual care.
From the start, scholars are welcomed into a culture of aspiration, kindness, and excellence. They are encouraged to explore, to lead, and to make a difference – in school and beyond.
Being a scholar at RGS means students are part of something special. It means we have seen their talent, their passion, and their potential – and we believe in what they can achieve.
