Information for families considering scholarship applications for September 2026 entry.

Welcome to the PERFORMING ARTS Scholarship Programme

What It Means to Be aN RGS Scholar

Scholars contribute actively to school life. They lead, perform, compete, create, mentor, and inspire. In return, they receive tailored support, enrichment, and recognition.

EVERY SCHOLAR’S JOURNEY IS UNIQUE AND PERSONAL

Our Scholarship & Talent Development Programme is designed to recognise and nurture student talent in the arts, sport, leadership, academics and beyond.

Rooted in the values of Commitment, Growth and Excellence , our scholars become part of a culture that celebrates talent and supports ambition in a community where every child belongs, and every voice matters.

We are proud to offer a structured, supportive, and aspirational programme that rewards dedication as much as natural ability. All our scholars, across every discipline, share the same values:

Commitment – showing up, putting in the effort, and supporting others.

Growth – having a mindset that embraces challenge and progress.

Excellence – striving for the highest standards.

Nurturing Commitment. Supporting Growth. Inspiring Excellence.

VISION AND CORE VALUES

Drama Scholars are at the heart of the school’s creative life, whether performing, directing or supporting backstage. The programme encourages self-expression and confidence, but also commitment to rehearsal, teamwork and the storytelling process. It is through these shared experiences that pupils grow as performers, leaders and communicators both on stage and behind the scenes.

RGS DRAMA: BE INSPIRED

This year, our Drama Scholars have enjoyed remarkable opportunities that reflect the creativity, ambition and excellence of Performing Arts at RGS. In a landmark event, RGS pupils performed in the West End at the Ambassadors Theatre. They also worked with Reigatian Matt Burns, producer and lead actor of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, who returned to direct Peter Pan and deliver coaching to pupils throughout the year.

Our scholars regularly collaborate with the Music Department on largescale musical productions. Last year’s Anything Goes was staged at the Leatherhead Theatre, and this year’s musical will be The Sound of Music Pupils also took part in an atmospheric outdoor performance of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in the Headmaster’s Garden, complete with special effects and falling snow.

From professional workshops to student-led productions, these experiences give our scholars the confidence, creativity and inspiration to grow as performers, technicians, collaborators and leaders.

life of a DRAMA scholar

RGS is different to other schools. A scholarship at RGS is an invitation, not a burden or a set of conditions. It is a recognition of potential and a chance to grow with support, encouragement and a culture of excellence.

Our Drama Scholars are encourged to try new experiences. They are supported to try things they have never done before whether that means auditioning for a lead role, directing a scene, joining the technical team or supporting a younger student backstage. Through rehearsals, productions and workshops, they build confidence and presence, and become part of a creative community that spans year groups.

AWARDS

At Reigate Grammar School, we believe every child should be seen, celebrated and stretched to reach their full potential. Our Scholarship Programme offers talented children the chance to flourish in an environment that combines academic ambition with individual care.

From the start, scholars are welcomed into a culture of aspiration, kindness, and excellence. They are encouraged to explore, to lead, and to make a difference – in school and beyond.

Being a scholar at RGS means students are part of something special. It means we have seen their talent, their passion, and their potential – and we believe in what they can achieve.

What Makes Our Scholarships Unique?

Personalised Pathways –Tailored enrichment, coaching and mentoring.

Belonging – A supportive peer network of fellow scholars.

Visibility – Regular celebration of talent and achievement.

Growth – Workshops in mindset, time management, leadership and wellbeing.

As part of their programme, students are encouraged to engage fully in the life of the school.

Some scholarship awards attract fee remission, but many do not. The focus is on talent development. Please contact the Bursar separately to discuss fee support.

Alongside opportunities within school, scholars may take part in external events and national competitions. This year, RGS was nominated for the National School Theatre Awards, with one of our scholars winning Best Actor in a Play.
