Editorial

Son diversos y distintos los criterios que los floricultores tienen sobre la situación de la floricultura ecuatoriana. La realidad es que cada empresa es diferente, tienen diferentes maneras de manejar la parte administrativa, financiera y laboral y tienen también distintas y variadas espectativas sobre el negocio. De eso depende la mayor o menor tranquilidad de sus dueños y administradores para afrontar la parte más neurálgica del negocio, la comercial.

The criteria that flower growers have on the situation of Ecuadorian floriculture are diverse and different. The reality is that each company is different, they have different ways of handling the administrative, financial and labor aspects and they also have different and varied expectations about the business. On that depends the greater or lesser tranquility of its owners and administrators to face the most neuralgic part of the business, the commercial one.

Es en la comercialización de las flores, donde está el éxito o el fracaso de esta agroindustria. La agresividad y la tenacidad, la inquietud y la imaginación de sus dueños o encargados comerciales son factores que pueden marcar la diferencia para lograr colocar sus magníficos productos a los más variados mercados del mundo. El valor agregado que le están dando, en cuanto al producto final ( empaques, mezcla de variedades o colores), hace que los compradores se decidan por seguir comprando productos ecuatorianos.

It is in the commercialization of flowers, where the success or failure of this agro-industry lies. The aggressiveness and tenacity, the restlessness and the imagination of its owners or commercial managers are factors that can make the difference in order to be able to place their magnificent products in the most varied markets of the world. The added value that they are giving their product, in terms of the final product (packaging, mix of varieties or colors), makes buyers decide to continue purchasing Ecuadorian products.

The cycles to which we are accustomed within our business makes us foresee that better time are coming. We must continue to take corrective measures in order to maintain the quality of crops, and incorporate improved technologies which will help us optimize our production.

Los ciclos a los que estamos acostumbrados en nuestro negocio nos hace prever que vendrán mejores momentos.

Hay que seguir haciendo correctivos para mantener la calidad en los cultivos, e incorporar mejores tecnologías, que nos ayude a optimizar nuestra producción.

Los otros productores de flores en el mundo, también han sentido la presión de los precios a la baja, y es en esta reacción, en donde radicará la ventaja competitiva de los siguientes meses; no bajemos la guardia.

Para que estén al tanto de los eventos importantes en nuestro sector, en esta revista les entregamos un reportaje gráfico de la feria en China, la casa abierta de Rosen Tantau, y la inauguración de las nuevas oficinas de Logike Cargo.

Desde cuando estás en la Floricultura?

Estoy en la Floricultura oficialmente desde Septiembre del 2005, pero realmente las flores son parte de mi vida desde el año 1996 cuando mis padres empezaron este emprendimiento en nuestra finca de Otón, y ya desde ese momento en nuestra familia las flores empezaban a correr por nuestras venas.

En el 2004 compramos nuestra finca en Tabacundo y ahí empecé con los movimientos de tierra, la construcción de invernaderos, la contratación de personal, etc. Para septiembre del 2005 mi madre decide retirarse parcialmente (digo parcialmente, porque en el fondo ella está pendiente hasta hoy de todo lo que pasa en Sisapamba Rosas & Rosas) y en ese entonces me designan como Gerente Comercial de nuestra empresa, y así es como oficialmente me hice floricultor.

3 Con la juventud y la experiencia que tienes ¿Cuáles serán las directrices que seguirás para afrontar estos retos?

En primer lugar, debemos permanecer cada vez más unidos como gremio. Es importante que tanto el Gobierno Nacional como nuestros clientes y entidades en el extranjero vean que el floricultor ecuatoriano trabaja unido y permanece unido a pesar de todas las adversidades por las que esté pasando.

2 ¿Asumes este reto en una situación complicada del país y de la Floricultura mundial?

Totalmente, la floricultura a pesar de que se ha consolidado poco a poco y cada vez vemos jugadores más grandes en el país ya sean extranjeros o locales, está pasando por una metamorfosis en donde los cultivos tradicionales de rosas ahora buscan reinventarse para poder sobrevivir a los cambios económicos y culturales de nuestro país y del mundo.

Estamos pasando por tiempos difíciles; tenemos muchos obstáculos que superar en el ámbito de logística, tratados de libre comercio, leyes laborales, impuestos, entre otros.

Pero también tenemos un Expoflores cada vez más maduro y muy bien liderado por su Presidente Ejecutivo junto a un equipo de trabajo de primer nivel, con socios cada vez más activos y dispuestos a trabajar juntos por la industria para que esta supere todos los retos que actualmente estamos atravesando como empresarios en un país que no está en su mejor momento.

En segundo lugar, Expoflores siendo la entidad líder de los floricultores debe afianzar cada vez más la relación con el Gobierno Nacional y enfocarse para lograr objetivos conjuntos que beneficien al sector exportador que es el sector que ayuda a que la dolarización, la competitividad y la economía de nuestro país funcionen. Debemos insistentemente buscar los tratados de libre comercio o

acuerdos bilaterales especialmente con los Estados Unidos que es nuestro mayor mercado natural para poder mantener la competitividad.

En tercer lugar, nuestro gremio necesita modernizar sus cultivos, es momento que Expoflores incursione en temas de investigación y desarrollo para que sus socios y todos los floricultores del Ecuador puedan hacer innovaciones importantes a sus cultivos que nos permitan mantenernos competitivos a nivel global. Ya es un tema latente actualmente en Expoflores y tanto la comisión técnica, como Alejandro Martínez ya están trabajando poco a poco en que esto sea una realidad y mi función va a ser especialmente apoyar estas iniciativas hasta que logremos objetivos importantes que beneficien a todo el sector.

Finalmente, pienso que hay que continuar con la gran gestión que los anteriores presidentes han realizado para llevar a Expoflores a ser una de las entidades gremiales más importantes del país. La continuidad a largo plazo es la clave del éxito, más que hacer cambios, es mantener los buenos hábitos, servicios y proyectos que nuestra asociación ha llevado esta última década y seguir innovando para mantener una entidad moderna en un mundo de cambios constantes y muy rápidos.

4 Cómo afrontar la competencia desleal, qué hacer para que todos los floricultores trabajen en igualdad de condiciones?

Este es un tema delicado y Expoflores junto con sus directores lo han venido trabajando ya algunos años. Para esto incluso hemos creado una comisión que nos ayude a sacar ideas para tener más control en este ámbito y encontrar la manera de que esto poco a poco se resuelva.

El tema de las regalías es uno de los más complicados, y a pesar de que los obtentores hacen todo lo posible para controlar a quiénes pagan las regalías y a quiénes no, es necesario que el gobierno central nos apoye de alguna manera para controlar el mercado pirata. No es un tema de dejar fuera a pequeños productores y perjudicar a los demás, es un tema de competencia justa y que todos tengamos las mismas condiciones.

De igual manera es importante buscar maneras de formalizar nuestra industria cada vez más con nuestros clientes en el exterior. Cada año sufrimos estafas millonarias y necesitamos buscar formas de cambiar la informalidad de la floricultura para evitar que perdamos tanto dinero con gente que nos estafa en diferentes partes del mundo. Para esto también es importante buscar mecanismos junto con el Gobierno que nos puedan ayudar a reducir estos riesgos que por muchos años nos han perjudicado.

Y para terminar solo quiero decir que me motiva mucho asumir este nuevo reto en mi vida como Presidente del Directorio de

Expoflores, me siento muy honrado que los otros directores decidieron darme esta enorme responsabilidad y un cargo tan importante y estoy dispuesto a trabajar por un gremio cada vez más unido y cada vez más fuerte en el Ecuador y el mundo. Sin embargo, sin el apoyo y participación activa de todos los asociados y el personal de Expoflores nada de esto sería posible ya que no es el mérito de una persona la que está logrando en nuestro gremio sino de un equipo humano de primer nivel y socios cada vez más comprometidos y activos.

President of the Expoflores Board of Directors 1. Since when are you involved in Floriculture?

I have been involved in Floriculture officially since September 2005, but flowers have really been part of my life since 1996 when my parents started this endeavor on our farm in Otón.

From that moment on, in our family, flowers began to run through our veins.

In 2004 we bought our farm in Tabacundo and there I started with the earth movements, the construction of greenhouses, the hiring of personnel, etc. Around September 2005, my mother decides to partially retire (I say partially, because deep down until today, she is always keeping an eye on what is happening in Sisapamba Rosas & Rosas) and at the same time I am appointed as Commercial Manager of our company, and this is how officially I became a flower grower.

2. Did you take on this challenge during a complicated situation both in the country and in the world’s Flower growing business?

Totally. Although flower growing has little by little become consolidated and we start seeing bigger players in the country, be those foreigners or locals, the business is going through a metamorphosis where the traditional crops of roses now seek to reinvent themselves in order to survive the economic and cultural changes of our country and those of the world.

We are going through difficult times; we have many obstacles to overcome within the field of logistics, free trade agreements, labor laws, taxes, among others. But we also have Expoflores that is constantly growing and progressively maturing and very well led by its Executive President together with a top of the line work team, with partners that are becoming increasingly more active and willing to work jointly in favor of the industry for it to overcome all the challenges that we are currently facing and experiencing within a country that is not at its best.

3. With the youth and the experience you have at present, which will be the guidelines to follow in order to deal with these challenges?

First of all, we must remain more and more united as a business association. It is important that both the National Government and our clients, as well as foreign entities, evidence that the Ecuadorian flower grower works jointly and remains united despite all the adversities that are being dealt with at any given moment.

Secondly, Expoflores, being the leading entity of Ecuadorian flower growers, must gradually strengthen the relationship with the National Government and focus on achieving joint objectives that benefit the export sector, which is the sector that helps dollarization, competitiveness and the economy of our country work. We must insist on seeking free trade agreements or bilateral agreements, especially with the United States, which is our largest natural market in order to uphold competitiveness.

In the third place, our business association needs to modernize its crops; it is time for Expoflores to venture into research and development issues so that its partners and all flower growers in Ecuador can make important innovations to their crops which will allow us to remain competitive globally. It is already a latent issue currently in Expoflores and both the technical committee and Alejandro Martinez are already working little by little on this becoming a reality, and my role will be especially focused on supporting these initiatives until we achieve important objectives that benefit the entire sector.

Finally, I think we must continue with the great management that the previous presidents have carried out, to lead Expoflores in becoming one of the most important trade associations in the country.

Long-term continuity is the key to success, rather than making changes, it is to maintain the good habits, services and projects that our association has undertaken during this last decade and continue to innovate in order to maintain a modern entity within a world of constant and very rapid changes.

4. How to face unfair competition, what to do so that all flower growers work on equal terms?

This is a sensitive issue and Expoflores, together with its directors, has been working on it for some years now. For this, we have even created a commission to help us draw ideas in order to have more control within this area and to find the way to gradually reach solutions.

The issue of royalties is one of the most complicated, and although breeders do all that is possible in order to be able to control who pays the royalties and who does not, it is necessary that the central government supports us in some way to control the pirate market. It is not a matter of leaving out the small producers and of harming others, it is a matter of fair competition and that we all have the same conditions.

In the same manner, it is important to look for ways to progressively formalize our industry with our clients abroad.

Each year we suffer multimillion dollar swindles and we need to look for ways to change the informality of flower growing to avoid losing so much money with people who trick us in different parts of the world. For this it is also important to look for mechanisms together with the Government which can help us reduce these risks that for many years have harmed us.

And to finish, I just want to say that I am very motivated to take on this new challenge in my life as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Expoflores. I feel deeply honored that the other directors decided to give me this enormous responsibility and such an important position, and I am willing to work for an increasingly united business association, which grows stronger both in Ecuador and in the world. However, without the support and active participation of all the associates and of the staff of Expoflores, none of this would have bene possible since it is not due to the merit of just one person that our business association is achieving it goals, but the merit of a joint effort of a top level human team and of partners who are increasingly more committed and active.

La Ventaja Ecuatoriana El Otro Lado de la Moneda Luis Cadavid

Roma ardió! Por lo menos así se sintió después de recibir tantos comentarios de mis colegas sobre el articulo ¨La Crisis Ecuatoriana. ¨Pero no me estoy retractando, estoy doblando mi apuesta.

Creo en todo lo que escribí en mi ultimo artículo. La crisis llego, la hemos estado viviendo los últimos dos meses.

Estamos en la mitad de una guerra de precios, las ventas a perdida que mencione anteriormente aun existente.

No deberíamos desesperarnos en una situación tan adversa, deberíamos innovar y volvernos más eficientes.

El punto del último articulo era hacer que la gente hable sobre la crisis. Negarla, silenciarla e ignorarla, solo le hace daño a la industria. Al continuar conversando del tema, podemos tomar cartas sobre el asunto, solucionar el problema y sacarle provecho como industria. Lo hemos hecho antes. Las personas que digan que todo está de maravilla están en un estado de negación absoluta o sirven los intereses de un par de fincas ecuatorianas y no de la gran mayoría. ¡Ecuador tiene muchas ventajas, deberíamos usarlas! Si, nuestras fortalezas fueron escondidas o puestas en segundo plano a través de recorte de gastos y falta de innovaciones.

La calidad en el Ecuador ha caído de sus impecables estándares hace unos años. ¡Pero no hay que temer! Aun lo podemos solucionar. Como productores, deberíamos enfocarnos en las características que distinguían a la flor ecuatoriana de otras. Enfrentemos la crisis con la frente en alto y nuestras mangas recogidas. Continuemos con la conversación, encontremos soluciones y cojamos al toro por los cuernos.

Color. Las condiciones en Ecuador: clima, ciclos, altura y radiación; permiten que la producción local sobresalga en ciertos parámetros. Uno de esos aspectos es la intensidad

del color que se hace evidente en colores vivos como el amarillo, lavanda, blanco cremoso y toda la gama rosados.

Eso se puede ver en la superioridad de los bouquets; el contraste es mucho mas fuerte y permite tener un mejor producto final. Mientras que los rojos y blancos puros no son los mejores colores del país, Ecuador puede aprovechar sus ventajas en los otros colores para ser mas competitivos y fortalecerse ese nicho.

Como regla general, las fincas ecuatorianas tienen menos rojos que sus contrapartes en Colombia, hablando históricamente. Eso esta cambiando, el rojo está perdiendo mercado más rápido que nunca. Es tiempo de enfocarse en el mercado de color; esto les dará una ventaja competitiva a las fincas ecuatorianas con mayoristas y supermercados.

Durabilidad. Gracias a los ciclos más largos que tiene Ecuador versus sus vecinos del norte, el país tiene una ventaja oculta que muy pocos saben usar. Mientras que no es una regla general, las fincas que gozan de este beneficio pueden demostrar una mayor durabilidad en florero. Lo que hemos podido determinar gracias a nuestra operación en Miami es que esta ventaja puede ir desde dos días y se puede extender hasta cinco; esto es evidente sobre todo en las fincas ubicadas sobre los 3,000 metros de altura.

Las fincas deben tener cuidado dado que esta ventaja se puede perder con mucha rapidez cuando se hormona. El uso de este tipo de productos destruye la vida en florero.

Otro efecto de un ciclo más largo es que la rosa viaja mejor sobre todo en los tramos más extensos, ya que la rosa tiene más tiempo para guardar azucares lo que le permite ser más duradera. A nivel general, dado el ciclo más largo, los pétalos tienden a ser más duros, lo que permite que la rosas sobreviva mayores niveles de maltrato y viajes

La Ventaja Ecuatoriana

más largos (cuando hay más pétalos). La durabilidad del pétalo y la cabeza es una excelente ventaja para viajes mas largos como Irkutsk (por tierra), China, Australia, Canadá (por tierra). La Rosa Colombiana o africana no sobreviven esos viajes con tanta facilidad, haciendo el producto ecuatoriano el principal para estos destinos. En algunas de estas ciudades no se encuentra rosa de estos países con excepción de que lleguen por avión, haciendo la flor más cara por el costo de transporte.

Variedad. Ecuador es el centro de breeding en Sur América; se encuentra muchas mas variedades que en Colombia o México, tanto en selección con los breeders como en los cultivos. La diversificación de variedades es una ventaja que el país a perdido hasta cierto punto. Antes de la crisis del 2014, había muchas más variedades en los campos de las fincas. Algunas más productivas que otras, las variedades servían diferentes nichos y le daban ventajas a los productores locales. Mientras que las variedades poco productivas se volvieron un problema para muchos productores, si hay un branding y marketing adecuado de fondo esas variedades pueden obtener un premium que compensa sus deficiencias en cultivo. Los mercados quieren novedades, rarezas y cosas extrañas, aprovechemos eso.

Trabajo de Nicho. Las fincas ecuatorianas se han especializado en hacer trabajo de mano de obra intensivo, trabajo de nicho como hacer solitarios, preservadas, tinturados arcoíris, ramos elaborados y otros productos de esta gama. Las fincas se han acostumbrado a hacer este trabajo extra, y son excelentes en dar un producto final superior. Este servicio agregado es una ventaja para las fincas a que en otros países no hay interés de hacerlo dada la complejidad y problemas logísticos asociados con la mano de obra intensiva de estos productos.

Ecuador realmente se ha vuelto bueno en hacer estos productos. Sean rosas tinturadas, preservadas o hechas a mano, las mejores vienen de Ecuador. El país tiene que aprender a usar este hecho como su ventaja competitiva.

Pero no está demás decir que no se haga mucho de esto, ya que nos podemos tirar el mercado. Hay que evitar sobre saturar el mercado, buscar nuevas alternativas, seguir innovando el producto final. No todo el mundo tiene que salir a hacer estos productos que pueden ser rentables para nuestros vecinos. Cada finca tiene que aprender en qué tipo de innovación son buenos y sobresalir en las mismas. Dañar el mercado de cualquier producto solo nos afecta como industria.

Ecuador es un país persistente que ha sobrevivido varias crisis y obstáculos a través de los años. Una vez más, el país tiene que innovar para sobrepasar esta crisis que toda la industria está sufriendo. Ecuador tiene talento, la calidad y la experiencia, solo tenemos que aplicarla. Mientras que la crisis actual no se acabe, tenemos muchas ventajas que tenemos que utilizar para no solo sobrevivir sino triunfar.

Ecuadorian Advantage The Other Side of the Coin Rome burned! At least that is what it felt like after receiving feedback from my colleagues on my previous article. I am not recanting by any means if anything I am doubling down.

I meant what I wrote in: “Ecuadorian Crisis.” The crisis is here; we have been living it for the past month and a half.

We are in the middle of a price war, and the non-profit prices I mentioned before are still out there. We should not despair even though the situation is daunting; we should innovate and become more efficient.

The point of my previous article was to get people talking about the crisis. Denying it, silencing it, and ignoring it, only does a disservice to the industry. With an ongoing conversation, we can fix it and take advantage of the things that, as an industry, we do well. Anyone who still tells you that everything is fine is either in denial or serving the interest of select few farmers of the Ecuadorian floriculture industry.

Ecuador has many advantages; let us use them! Yes, our strengths became hidden over the past few years due to cost cutting, and lack of innovation. Ecuadorian rose quality has gone down from our previous impeccable standards but fear not! We can still fix this. As growers, we should focus on the characteristics that distinguish Ecuadorian roses from others. Let us face this crisis with our chins high, and our sleeves rolled up. Let’s continue this conversation, find solutions and grab the bull by its horns.

Color. The conditions in Ecuador: weather, cycle, altitude, and radiation, allow for the local product to excel in certain aspects. One of those aspects is the color intensity made evident in colors such as yellow, lavender, ivory whites and the entire spectrum of pinks. You can see this superiority in bouquets; the contrast is much stronger and allows for a better final product. While reds and pure whites are not the best colors in the country, Ecuador can take advantage of the other colors to be more competitive and take that niche market.

As a rule, Ecuadorian farms have less red than Colombian ones, historically speaking. However, times are changing. It is a reality; red roses are losing market share faster than ever.

It is time to focus our efforts on the other colors market; this will give Ecuador a competitive advantage with wholesalers and supermarkets alike.

Vase Life/Hardiness. Due to the longer cycles that Ecuador has versus its northern neighbors, the country has an unseen lead that few know how to use to their advantage. While this is not a general rule, those farms that do enjoy this benefit can boast a longer vase life. What we have been able to determine from our operation in Miami is that this edge can start with just two days and can reach up to five; this is especially evident in farms that located above 3,000 meters.

However, growers must be careful as this advantage is quickly lost when they add hormones to the product. The use of such products destroys both durability and hardiness.

Another side effect of a longer cycle is the fact that roses fare better in extended trips, as they have more time to store sugars that allow them to last longer. Overall, due to the longer cycle, petals tend to be harder or stronger, allowing roses to survive higher levels of mistreatment and longer journeys.

Petal and bud durability is an excellent advantage for longer trips to places like Irkutsk (by ground transportation), China, Australia or Canada (by ground transportation). Generally, Colombian or African roses don’t survive such trips easily, making the Ecuadorian product prime for this market. In some of the further cities, you will never find roses from other countries unless they come by plane, making them uncompetitive due to the price increase.

Variety. Ecuador is the hub for breeding in South America; it has exponentially more rose varieties than Colombia, both in the breeding selection and on the fields. This diversification is an advantage the country has lost. Before the 2014 crisis, there were more varieties in Ecuador in the farm’s greenhouses. Some were highly productive others were not, but overall, they served many niches and gave more advantages to the local producers. While non-productive varieties can be an issue for many growers if they are properly advertised and marketed they can command a high price that compensates their field deficiencies. Furthermore, these markets want novelties, rarities, and just craziness sometimes.

Niche Labour. Ecuadorian farms have taken to doing labor-intensive niche work such as singles, handcrafted roses, rainbow tints, elaborate bouquets, and other such products. Ecuadorian farms have become accustomed to doing the extra work, and they excel at delivering a superior final product. This added service is an advantage as many farms in other countries lack interest in competing due to the complexity and logistic problems associated with these labor-intensive products.

Furthermore, Ecuador has gotten genuinely skilled at doing such products. Whether it is tinted roses, preserved roses, or handcrafted products, the best come from Ecuador. The country needs to learn how to use this fact for its advantage.

However, a word of warning: don’t overdo it! Avoid saturating the market and look for other alternatives, new and creative forms of innovating final products to consumers. Not everyone should jump on a trend bandwagon because it was profitable for your neighbor. Learn what type of innovation you are truly good at and excel at it. Damaging the market harms the entire industry.

Ecuador is a resilient country that has survived many crises and obstacles over the years. Once again, the country must innovate to overcome the industry crisis that we are all enduring. Ecuador has the people, the quality and the expertise, but we need to apply them. While the current Ecuadorian crises plague our farms, we also have many advantages that must be utilized to counteract it and thrive.

En el mes de Abril, se llevó a cabo la Hortiflorexpo en Shanghai. Ecuador estuvo presente en esta feria con un grupo de floricultores que mostraron la variedad de productos de calidad que ofrecemos, lo que cautivó a los asistentes. Este es un mercado que va creciendo sostenidamente, no tan rápido como esperábamos, pero hay que darle la importancia que requiere.

Expoflores conmemora su trigésimo quinto aniversario junto a sus asociados La Asociación Nacional de Productores y Exportadores de Flores del Ecuador celebró su trigésimo quinto aniversario de fundación y la Premiación Flor Ecuador 2019, junto a sus socios y colaboradores el pasado mes de abril de 2019.

Durante la ceremonia se galardonó a varios de los asociados, en las siguientes categorías: - Certificación Flor Ecuador: este reconocimiento lo recibieron aquellas empresas que por dos años consecutivos 2017 y 2018, alcanzaron el 100% de cumplimiento de la certificación. Ellas son un ejemplo de transparencia, responsabilidad y eficiencia en procesos reconocidos por dicha certificación.

- Responsabilidad Social Empresarial: este galardón se entregó a aquellas empresas que buscan crear mejores oportunidades para la comunidad que los rodea y proteger los recursos naturales que son vitales para obtener las mejores flores del mundo. En este segmento existían tres subcategorías: trascendencia social, ambiental y humana.

- Innovación: aquellas empresas que han apostado por nuevas oportunidades, así como han aportado de manera excepcional y han invertido en el desarrollo del sector floricultor, con convicción y decisión.

- Escuela de Floricultura: aquellas empresas que creen en la educación de sus colaboradores y han invertido en el crecimiento del sector a través de esta organización.

- Trayectoria: se realizó un reconocimiento a las empresas cuya trayectoria es de 20, 25, 30,35 40 y 50 años en el sector. En esta categoría se recalcó el esfuerzo, compromiso y dedicación de varias empresas ecuatorianas, cuyo objetivo siempre ha sido entregar las mejores flores al mundo y un empleo digno a más de 100.000 ecuatorianos.

- Homenaje al liderazgo femenino en el sector floricultor ecuatoriano.

Esta fue la primera vez que la Asociación entrega un galardón en esta categoría.

El premio lo recibió Elena Terán, Gerente General de FLOREQUISA; quien, por 34 años ha desempañado un rol ejemplar como mujer y como empresaria, ha hecho florecer y crecer a una de las actividades económicas más importantes del país.

Su gestión ha demostrado no solo el reconocimiento de sus colegas; sino también el agradecimiento de todo un sector por su liderazgo, humildad y compromiso. Este fue un momento lleno de alegría y nostalgia para todos los asistentes.

Alejandro Martínez, Presidente Ejecutivo y Juan José Albuja, Presidente del Directorio 2018-2019, como representantes de Expoflores, dirigieron unas palabras a los presentes recalcando la unión del gremio, la confianza y determinación de los asociados para un desarrollo continuo del sector, como lo han demostrado durante estos 35 años.

Adicionalmente se recalcó el compromiso constante e innovación continua para superar las expectativas y metas delineadas; recalcando, la importancia de mantener una visión amplia y trazar un camino realizable.

Previo al evento, Expoflores mantuvo la Asamblea General de Socios, donde se nombró a José Antonio Bueno como Presidente del Directorio 2019-2020 y a Gustavo Alzate como Vicepresidente del Directorio 2019-2020. La Comisión Ejecutiva entrante estará liderando y trabajando junto a los colaboradores y socios de Expoflores en el desarrollo de nuevos proyectos para el bienestar del sector floricultor ecuatoriano.

Los asociados de Expoflores recordaron y festejaron juntos el resultado de muchos esfuerzos iniciados en 1984. Como gremio aseguraron continuar con el mismo ahínco, para cosechar éxitos a futuro.
