En tan solo una década la ciudad de Málaga ha logrado establecerse y figurar entre los destinos de turismo cultural más importantes del mundo.

In just ten years the city of Málaga has succeeded in establishing itself as one of the world’s most important destinations for cultural tourism.

Málaga has turned into a genuine City of Museums, with a total of 40. Most are concentrated in the historic centre, making it a city with one of the highest densities of museums in the old town.

arsons The New School for Design, comúnmente conocida como Parsons School of Design o simplemente Parsons, es una escuela de arte y diseño de la universidad The New School en la ciudad de Nueva York. En 2015, apareció en el primer lugar de la lista de QS World University Rankings como la mejor escuela de arte y diseño en Estados Unidos.

Estudiar en Parsons no es barato. Cada curso cuesta unos 70.000 euros incluido alojamiento, por lo que no todo el mundo puede acceder a sus aulas. Numerosos rostros conocidos del mundo de la moda, el cine o la literatura han pasado por sus aulas...

Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Narciso Rodríguez, Donna Karan, Anna Sui, Alexander Wang o Jason Wu son algunos de los exalumnos ilustres de Parsons. También Claire McCardell (19051958) una de las diseñadoras más importantes de los años 40. La modelo Bella Hadid, Brooklyn Beckham (hijo de los Beckham) y al reconocido fotógrafo Steven Meisel.

En el mundo literario y de la edición, Carine Roitfeld, editora de VOGUE y creadora de la revista CR Fashion Book, estudió Moda y Comunicación en Parsons. Each academic year costs some 70,000 euros, including accommodation, meaning that not just anyone has access. But plenty of well-known faces in the worlds of fashion, film and literature have passed through its lecture theatres…

Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Narciso Rodríguez, Donna Karan, Anna Sui, Alexander Wang and Jason Wu are just a few of the illustrious former students of Parsons.Also Claire McCardell (1905-1958), one of the most influential designers of the 40s; fashion model Bella Hadid, Brooklyn Beckham (son of David and Victoria Beckham) and acclaimed photographer Steven Meisel.

In the world of literature and publishing, there’s Carine Roitfeld, former editor-in-chief of VOGUE and creator of the CR Fashion Book magazine, who studied Fashion and Communication at Parsons. And, as it happens, Gori Vicens, the creator and director of Fantastic Guest and dpmagazine (fantasticguest. com and dpmagazine.es) also studied there.

What’s more, the school’s corridors have been graced by royalty and celebrities: Nicky Hilton, Lauren Bush, Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece and Andrea Casiraghi among others.

scar Wilde afirmaba que la moda es tan insoportable que cada seis meses nos vemos en la obligación de cambiarla. Es una gran verdad. Donde se llevan los rojos poco después se llevarán los verdes. Pero también es cierto de que determinadas prendas son atemporales y que, con leves modificaciones, las podrás lucir siempre.

Desde Fantastic Guest te dibujamos a grandes rasgos que debes ponerte para ser un impecable clásico a la vez que un rabioso moderno.

Los pantalones. Ya sean de vestir o clásicos, lo que está claro es que las perneras actuales son más estrechas. El momento de las campanas pasó, pese a que algunos diseñadores los vuelven a introducir tímidamente en las pasarelas.

No te asustes; tardará un tiempo aún en poder implantarse el XL de los bajos. De momento, un pitillo -sin pasarse, no hace falta ser un punk de los 70- es la mejor opción.

Nudo de corbata. este es un asunto más espinoso. Las corbatas no siempre son aptas, y más desde que algunas pasarelas dejan las camisas cerradas y sin nada más, pero no te engañes. El look descamisado no será eterno y la corbata si lo es. Puedes encontrar decenas de maneras de hacerte el nudo, desde el clásico hasta otros más originales.

El puño de la camisa debe sobresalir un poco de la chaqueta, si estamos hablando de un patrón clásico. Olvida las camisas italianizantes, donde los puños están trufados de botones que carecen de sentido: ni estético ni utilitario. Una de las grandes meteduras de pata en las camisas es esta sobreabundancia de botones. Que no te engañen; lo clásico es lo que siempre estará de

moda y es lo que tiene que formar parte de tu fondo de armario.

Los cinturones y los zapatos deben ser de calidad. Mejor cómprate unos que puedan defenderse en cualquier campo que un calzado de mala calidad que no resista embates. Una apuesta que hacemos son los oxford; te los puedes comprar ribeteados o sin ningún tipo de dibujo.

Clásicos o más atrevidos, siempre te darán un buen servicio.

Y ya por último, un pequeño consejo. El primero es que no siempre uses traje: Crees que vas elegante y en el fondo pareces un vendedor de biblias. El sport o la ropa informal tiene un margen de uso muy amplio, y arreglado puedes ir con una sudadera y un vaquero. Lo importante es la situación. ¿O acaso no sabías que el vaquero es la prenda más valorada de la historia?

And it’s quite true. Where red is worn, soon afterwards green will be worn. But it’s also true that certain garments are timeless and, with slight modifications, can be worn forever. Fantastic Guest gives you a broad idea of what to wear for an impeccable classic look, instead of being a manic modern dresser.

Trousers. Whether they’re smart or classic, one thing that’s clear is that these days the legs are narrower. Bell bottoms are over, despite the fact that some designers are cautiously bringing them back to the runway. Don’t be alarmed, it’ll be a while before we’re all wearing XL hems.

For the moment, skinny pants - without going over the top, you don’t need to look like a punk from the 70s - are the best bet.

Tie knots. The most thorny of issues. Ties are not always appropriate, especially as some fashion shows leave shirts done up without anything else, but don’t be deceived. The tieless look won’t last forever, but the tie will. You can find dozens of ways of making your knot, from the classic to more original styles.

The shirt cuff should protrude slightly from the jacket sleeve, if we’re going for a classic look.

Forget about Italian-style shirts with cuffs full of buttons whose purpose is neither aesthetic or functional. One of the greatest shirt gaffes is an overabundance of buttons. Don’t fall for it: classic garments will always be in fashion and should form the basis of our wardrobe.

Belts and shoes should be good quality. It’s better to buy shoes that can handle any situation than cheap footwear that can’t take a pounding.

This is the case with oxfords, available with brogue trim or plain. Classic or more daring, they’ll always serve you well.

And finally, a couple of tips. First and foremost, don’t always wear a suit: you may think you’re elegant, but basically you look like a bible salesman. Casual or sports clothing can be worn in many situations, and it’s perfectly possible to dress smartly in jeans and a sweatshirt. The important thing is the situation. Didn’t you know that jeans are the most highly appreciated garments in history?

Die Hosen. Einfach oder klassisch, klar ist auf jeden Fall, dass die Beinkleider gegenwärtig enger gehalten sind. Die Zeit der Schlaghosen ist vorbei, auch wenn einige Modedesigner sie wieder eher verhalten auf die Laufstege bringen. Keine Angst, es wird noch dauern, bis der XL-Schlag bei Hosen zurückkehrt. Die beste

Wahl im Moment sind Röhrenhosen, nicht allzu eng, man muss es ja nicht gleich den Punks der 70-er Jahre gleichtun.

Krawattenknoten. Das ist eine etwas heiklere Angelegenheit. Krawatten sind nicht immer angebracht, weniger noch, seit auf einigen Laufstegen geschlossene Oberhemden mit nichts weiter zu sehen sind. Aber täuschen Sie sich nicht, dieser Look wird nicht ewig währen, die Krawatte dagegen schon. Es gibt Dutzende von Arten, den Krawattenknoten zu binden, von klassischen bis hin zu originelleren Varianten.

Die Manschetten des Oberhemdes sollten immer ein wenig unter den Jackenärmeln hervorgucken, wenn wir vom klassischen Stil sprechen. Verzichten Sie auf Oberhemden im Italy-Stil mit Manschetten, die über und über mit Knöpfen bestückt sind, die keinerlei Sinn haben und auch weder schön noch zweckmäßig sind. Ein besonderer Fauxpas bei der Wahl des Oberhemdes ist genau dieses Übermaß an Knöpfen. Lassen Sie sich nicht verleiten, klassische Oberhemden sind zeitlos modern

und sollten daher immer zu Ihrer Garderobe gehören.

Santiago Calatrava está a punto de finalizar una obra icónica en la ciudad de Dubai “Dubai Creek Tower”.

Un proyecto que ganó en el año 2016 para diseñar una torre de observación “icónica” en el puerto de Dubai Creek.

Seleccionado entre otras cinco propuestas, el diseño se inspiró en la arquitectura islámica con la intención de “fusionar el diseño moderno y sostenible con la cultura de los Emiratos Árabes Unidos”.

He was awarded the project in 2016 to design an “iconic” observation tower in Dubai Creek Harbour. Calatrava designed the tower with a strong focus on energy efficiency and sustainability. The numerous observation decks make up an oval-shaped structure in the upper part of the building. The slender stem of the tower and the cables that anchor it to the ground are reminiscent of lily leaves. The tower will also provide a beam of light at night, emphasising the building’s bud-shaped design.

Logra unos buenos abdominales con el método ABS Para obtener un vientre plano se debe invertir tiempo y dedicación, pero todo es mucho más fácil si te marcas unas pautas o unas rutinas que te ayuden a conseguir tu objetivo. Sin mantener un horario, por ejemplo, es muy probable que abandones a las pocas semanas, ya que pese a no resultar complicados puede ser que no encuentres el tiempo suficiente para realizar los ejercicios. La dieta ABS tiene un objetivo claro; que consigas unos abdominales marcados en apenas seis semanas. Creada por el director de la revista masculina Men’s Health, David Zinczenko, está pensada para el público femenino y el masculino y ya se ha popularizado por todo el mundo. La idea es seguir unos consejos de nutrición junto a un ritmo de actividad constante.

Cinco son los puntos esenciales.

Rauw Alejandro con tan solo 28 años se ha convertido en una de las voces más representativas de la nueva escena urbana. Ha encabezado una gira mundial con entradas agotadas por Estados Unidos, España y República Dominicana. La ciudad de Palma y el Visit Mallorca Estadi han sido testigos de este lleno total tras 19 meses de prohibiciones. Alejandro, colgó el cartel de “No hay entradas” e hizo disfrutar a más de 5.000 personas. Durante su estancia en Palma eligió el AluaSoul Palma, Hotel de la marca Alua y situado en Cala Estancia.

Supo el tipo de ritmo que necesitaba para su canción “Todo de Ti” o “Everything About You”. El ritmo de trap plug-and-play era demasiado ambiental. David Adjaye graduated from London’s South Bank University in 1990. In the same year, he won the RIBA Bronze Medal, an award usually

reserved for postgraduate students. After some years working in various architecture studios, in 1994 Adjaye and William Russell established their own studio, named Adjaye & Russell, with offices in north London. The business closed in 2000, and Adjaye founded his own studio in the same year.

His works include the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, the Nobel Peace Centre in Oslo, the Moscow School of Management Skolkovo, the National Museum of African American History and Culture - part of the Smithsonian in Washington DC - and the Ruby City art centre in San Antonio, Texas.

His brilliant use of materials, site-specific designs and visionary sensibility distinguish him as one of the leading architects of his generation.

Adjaye Associates operates worldwide, with studios in Accra, London and New York. Projects range from private homes, bespoke furniture co-

llections, product design, expos and temporary pavilions to major art centres, civic buildings and urban redevelopment.

One of his ongoing projects is the new Princeton University Art Museum in New Jersey.

Located at the heart of the campus, Adjaye’s building will replace the existing building, doubling its capacity. According to the current schedule, construction will start next year, with a planned end date in late 2024.

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) recently announced that Adjaye will be awarded the Royal Gold Medal 2021. One of the world’s highest honours for architecture, this prize is a recognition of a lifetime’s work, given to “a person or group of people who have had a significant influence, either directly or indirectly, on the advancement of architecture”.

Grabar en casa fue muy guay porque significó que pudimos llamar a algunos de nuestros amigos para que se unieran a nosotros en el estudio. La mayor parte del disco estaba escrita antes de la cuarentena, pero esa pausa inesperada en la vida de todos nosotros nos hizo replantear algunas cosas y terminarlas de otra manera. Todo esto hizo que la grabación se sintiera casi como una celebración. Todos los que conocíamos estaban bien; incluso con la pandemia pudimos encontrar los puntos positivos y estar más juntos que nunca”.

Tangana that has already been streamed more than 1.5 million times - “You Work All Day” - regularly played on KEXP, BBC6 and NME Radio and “Lo Dejaría Todo”, The Parrots release “Amigos”, the latest track from their eagerly-awaited second album, produced by the prestigious British label Heavenly Recordings.

“Dos”, the follow-up to their 2016 debut album, reveals a new-look Parrots playing with more power and inspiration than ever, swinging fluidly between uncomplicated garage and more arty and sophisticated disco-rock. With production by Tom Furse (keyboard with The Horrors) and mixing by Claudius Mittendorfer (Parquet Courts, Weezer, Panic! At The Disco, Temples), The Parrots experiment with sound landscapes via more modern production and electronic groove.

From the motorik beat of “You Work All Day And Then You Die” to the celebration of friendship and survival at the end of the night in “Romance”, “Dos” is a joyful and all-consuming sound. While the debut album howled and thrashed like a garage band brought up in the Nasti Club or the Wurlitzer Ballroom, Diego García (guitar, vocals) and Alex de Lucas (bass, vocals) seize on this second album as an opportunity to display their wider ambitions.

About their new album, The Parrots tell us: “Most of the tracks were recorded at Wilton Way Studio in Hackney (London) between summer 2019 and

early 2020. Because of the lockdown, we ended up finishing the album in Madrid, at the Metropol studio with Harto Rodríguez. Recording at home was awesome because it meant we could invite some of our friends to join us in the studio. Most of the album was already written pre-lockdown, but that pause in all our lives made us rethink some things and do them differently. And all that meant that recording felt almost like a celebration. Everyone we knew was okay; even with the pandemic we were able to find the positives and feel more united than ever”.

l fotógrafo Tyler Haughey nos muestra una serie compuestas por fotografías de diferentes moteles de la zona de Wildwoods. Una muestra que está presente hoy como si fuera ayer.

The Wildwoods, un grupo de pequeñas ciudades costeras situadas en una isla barrera de cinco millas de largo a lo largo de la costa sur de Nueva Jersey, alberga una de las colecciones arquitectónicas más importantes del siglo XX. Contienen un tesoro de moteles modernos de mediados de siglo que constituyen la mayor concentración de arquitectura de resort de posguerra en los Estados Unidos. Permanecen en pleno funcionamiento y prácticamente sin cambios desde su construcción original, en muchos casos hace más de cincuenta años.

The Wildwoods, a group of small shore towns located on a five-mile-long barrier island on the southern New Jersey coast, are home to one of the most important architectural collections of the 20th century. They contain a trove of midcentury modern motels that make up the largest concentration of postwar resort architecture in the United States. These motels remain fully functioning and virtually unchanged since their original construction, in many cases over fifty years ago.

Adopting a spare aesthetic and using contemporary materials such as poured concrete and glass, the motels brought European high modernism to America’s middle class. Applying the idea of the “decorated shed”, a term coined by renowned postmodern architects Robert Venturi, Denise Scott Brown and Steve Izenour in their seminal 1972 book Learning from Las Vegas, each motel relies on unique architectural features and symbolic

ornament to form its own identity and set itself apart from the others nearby. Infused with space-age optimism and experimentation, and drawing on the iconography of faraway exotic destinations, these structures represent the way America’s middle class travelled and holidayed during the postwar era.

Built to cater for the annual influx of summer tourists vacationing in the area in the mid1950s, the motels have always faced a steep decline in visitors during the remainder of the year, leaving most with no choice but to close for the off-season. Normally vibrant and full of life, they sit shuttered and vacant for nine months every year, unoccupied time capsules of summers past. Their brightly-coloured facades, futurist details and exuberant neon signage are in stark contrast to the eerie, unpopulated emptiness of the winter months, transforming these beach towns into real-life abandoned film sets.

Mit ihrer nüchternen Ästhetik und den zeitgenössischen Materialien wie Gussbeton und Glas brachten die Motels die Hochmoderne Europas zur amerikanischen Mittelschicht. Die Motels wurden Mitte der 50er-Jahre gebaut, um den sommerlichen Ansturm von Touristen in der Region zu bewältigen, wobei sie das restliche Jahr über meistens leer standen und deshalb normalerweise geschlossen wurden. In der warmen Jahreszeit stecken sie voller Leben, während sie die anderen neun Monate des Jahres leer stehen und so einer Zeitkapsel gleichen, die vergangene Sommer heraufbeschwört. Die bunten Fassaden mit futuristischen Details und auffälliger Neonbeschilderung heben sich von der mysteriösen und unbewohnten Leere ab, die sich im Winter breitmacht. Beard entered Yale as a medical student, and in a class on population dynamics he formed his long-standing hypothesis that humans are actually the main disease. These diaries remain an essential part of his creative output.

More recently he wrote Zara’s Tales: Perilous Escapades in Equatorial Africa (2004) for his daughter, and the monograph Peter Beard (2006, 2008, 2013, 2020) was published by Taschen.

Beard’s first exhibition opened at New York’s Blum Helman Gallery in 1975; this was followed by a landmark solo show at the International Center of Photography, New York City, in 1977. From then on, Beard exhibited all over the world. In 1996, a retrospective of Beard’s work at the Centre National de la Photographie in Paris was inaugurated following the artist’s recovery after being trampled and gored in the leg by an elephant.

eter Beard: Sein Leben als Kunstwerk. Peter Beard wurde 1938 in New York geboren. Den Sommer verbrachte er jeweils in Tuxedo Park mit seiner Großmutter, die ihm seine erste Kamera, eine Voigtländer, schenkte. Die Fotografie wurde bald zu einer natürlichen Erweiterung seiner sorgfältig geführten Tagebücher, um seine Erinnerungen festzuhalten. Mit siebzehn brach er mit Quentin Keynes, Entdecker und Urenkel von Charles Darwin, auf eine lebensverändernde Reise nach Afrika auf. Dort arbeitete er an einem Film, der das Leben seltener Wildtiere wie der Spitzmaulnashörner in Zululand dokumentierte.

Danach begann er, Medizin an der Universität Yale zu studieren, und in einer Vorlesung über Völkerdynamik kam er zu seiner Hypothese, dass eigentlich der Mensch die schlimmste Krankheit ist. Schließlich wechselte er zur Kunst und drückte gemeinsam mit Vincent Scully, Josef Albers und Richard Lindner die Schulbank. Sein unermüdlicher Entdeckergeist führte ihn erneut nach Afrika, von wo aus er seine Tagebücher per Post schickte, anstatt seine Abschlussarbeit für die Universität fertigzustellen. Bis heute verkörpern diese Texte einen wichtigen Teil seines künstlerischen Wirkens.

In den 60ern erhielt Beard den besonderen Auftrag des kenianischen Präsidenten Kenyatta, das Grundstück Hog Ranch zu kaufen und die Flora, Fauna sowie die Dörfer in der Umgebung zu filmen, zu fotografieren und zu dokumentieren. Beard arbeitete im Nationalpark Tsavo, um das Ungleichgewicht zwischen Menschen, Natur und Tieren in seinem Buch „Die letzte Jagd“ („The End of the Game“, 1965) festzuhalten. In der zweiten Ausgabe von „The End of the Game“ (1977) dokumentierte er das Massensterben von 35.000 Elefanten und 5.000 Nashörnern im Nationalpark Tsavo als Reaktion auf die Erschöpfung, den Stress und die Krankheiten, die durch die hohe Dichte entstanden waren.

Gemeinsam mit Alistair Graham erforschte er Krokodile am Lake Rudolph und arbeitete am Buch „Eyelids of Morning: The Mingled Destinies of Crocodiles and Men“ (1973).

Außerdem stellte er dort „Longing for Darkness: Kamante’s Tales from Out of Africa“ (1975) zusammen und später verfasste er schließlich „Zara’s Tales: Perilous Escapades in Equatorial Africa“ (2004) für seine Tochter.

He continues to live and work between New York City, Montauk and Kenya with his wife Nejma and his daughter Zara.
