hen an anniversary is celebrated, we often take some time for reflection and to sum up what we have experienced. This year we celebrate the Silver Jubilee of AAPA Congress of Latin American Ports, and I believe it is a good time to evaluate this initiative born 25 years ago. It is interesting to review the statements that were presented to conclude our latest meetings. This initiative began in 2012, with the “Antigua Declaration”, being Guatemala the host country. In this edition, the focus of the demand was the Present and Future of Latin American ports in the era of Multimodality and Logistics. In 2013, the theme of the meeting focused on the integration of Latin American Ports with the World in the Age of FTAs and Common Markets. The venue was Colombia, and the “Declaration of Bogota” ruled that Free Trade Agreements, as fundamental tool for the development of international trade and promotion of ports competitiveness and the economy of our countries. It was also pointed out the need to deepen interrelationship of our ports to positively impact greater regional integration, an issue that was the center stage in the Argentina edition of

La evolución de los Congresos Latinoamericanos de Puertos de la AAPA

uando se celebra un aniversario es común que le dediquemos un tiempo a la reflexión y a hacer un balance de lo que hemos vivido. Este año festejamos las Bodas de Plata de los Congresos Latinoamericanos de Puertos de la AAPA, y creo que es una buena ocasión para hacer un repaso por esta iniciativa que nació hace 25 años. Es interesante que hagamos una revisión de las últimas Declaraciones que se presentaron -a modo de conclusión- al finalizar nuestros encuentros. Esta iniciativa comenzó en el año 2012, con la “Declaración de Antigua”, siendo Guatemala sede del evento. En esa edición, el tema central de la convocatoria fue el Presente y Futuro los Puertos Latinoamericanos en la era de la Multimodalidad y la Logística. En el 2013, la temática del encuentro se enfocó en La Integración de los Puertos Latinoamericanos con el Mundo, en la Era de los TLC´s y Mercados Comunes. La sede fue Colombia, y la “Declaración de Bogotá” sentenció a los Tratados de Libre Comercio como herramienta fundamental para el desarrollo del comercio internacional y la promoción de la competitividad de los puertos y de la economía de nuestros países.
