Dear Friends,
As we step into spring, we're excited to share how your donations are making a real difference in the lives of animals in need. From providing critical medical care to offering a safe haven for homeless pets, your generosity is truly changing lives
We also have some exciting upcoming events, including our 6th Annual Canine Classic Golf Tournament. This event is a fun way to support our cause and help us continue our mission of saving lives. In this issue, we'll also introduce you to some of the unique critters we've had the pleasure of caring for and some special pets looking for forever homes. We will also highlight ways you can help support our rescue efforts, from volunteering your time to donating much-needed supplies, to helping with our new building. Together, we can make a difference for animals in need.
As always, I encourage you to stay connected with us through our website and social media channels to keep up-to-date with the latest news and events. Together, we can make a difference one paw at a time.
Thank you for being a part of the Rescue One family.

On a bitterly cold day, Rescue One received a distress call about a dog curled up next to someone's house When we arrived we found an emaciated dog who we named Rae, barely able to lift her head We knew we had to act fast! Back at the clinic, tests revealed Rae was in severe hypoglycemia She was diabetic, and without medical management as a stray, her condition was dire.
Determined to give Rae a fighting chance, the team decided to try something unconventional. They placed a Freestyle Libre sensor on her to monitor her glucose levels continuously This innovative approach allowed them to adjust Rae's insulin regimen in real time, ensuring she received the precise care she needed. Rae responded positively to the treatment. She started gaining weight, her energy levels increased, and her overall health improved. In just a short time, Rae gained 14 pounds and was well on her way to recovery. Today, Rae is a picture of health and is now looking for her forever family. She does require daily insulin but is otherwise a normal, happy girl! To fill out an application for Rae, please visit rescueonespringfield.com.
Inky, a young cat, was a fighter from the start. When we rescued her, she was battling a severe upper respiratory infection and frostbite, a result of her harsh life on the streets. Despite her suffering, Inky quickly endeared herself to the staff at our clinic
Over the course of two months, Inky received specialized care and treatment Her resilience shone through as she fought bravely against her illnesses. Slowly but surely, she began to heal. Her frostbite and her infection cleared and she transformed before our eyes, from a sickly stray to a vibrant, playful cat
Today, Inky is thriving. Her playful antics and affectionate purrs are a testament to her incredible recovery. She is now ready for her forever home where she can shower her new family with love and gratitude! To apply to adoption Inky, please visit rescueonespringfield.com.
When the distressing news arrived about a cat causing havoc by preying on chickens in Webster County, our team sprang into action. Little did we know, this was no ordinary feline.
Dr. Zacharias specializes in exotics and Puff underwent surgery to amputate his injured leg. He is doing great with 3 legs and has been adopted by a Rescue One foster!
Upon capture, we discovered he was a Savannah Cat, a rare breed resulting from the crossbreeding of a Serval cat and a domestic cat. Known for their exotic appearance and unique needs, Savannah Cats require experienced owners who understand their complex nature. After providing him with the necessary care at our clinic, we made arrangements for him to be transferred to the National Tiger Sanctuary. There, he would receive the specialized care and environment that aligns with his wild ancestry Once acclimated, he will have the opportunity to be placed in a suitable home or provided with a custom-built enclosure tailored to his needs. We are so happy we could have been part
Puff, a young bearded dragon, found himself in a precarious situation after being attacked by a cat. His leg was severely injured. While reptiles aren’t within our usual scope, we knew Puff deserved a fighting chance at life. We set him up in our exam room and posted a plea for help on our social media that was answered by Dr Zacharias at Galloway Village Veterinary
Raspberry, a courageous 3-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix weighing 45 pounds, has endured unspeakable abuse resulting in spinal injuries that cause her to struggle with incontinence. While indoors, she relies on a diapering system, but her true happiness shines when she's outdoors, basking in the sun without her diaper. Raspberry gets along well with dogs her size or larger, as well as with children. She loves snacks and snuggles! She is an incredible girl who deserves a home where she will be loved and cherished for exactly who she is She would love a fenced yard so she can run and play with her toys If you can provide Raspberry with a loving home, please fill out an application at rescueonespringfield.com. Her adoption fee is sponsored to an approved home.
Upon arriving at our care, it became evident that Raspberry had suffered irreversible damage to her spine. Her MRI showed that she had atrophy of the spinal cord at the T13/L1 disc space. This indicated that some of the trauma was days old, while others were months to a year old. Based on the duration and amount of change in her spinal cord, we are unsure that she will regain full urinary awareness

I'm Earl, aka Big Earl, a 3 year old, 82 pound mastiff mix. I'm a reformed pup, rescued from death row where I landed for the crime of being homeless No one came back for me, but some amazing folks at Rescue One did. I get along with female dogs famously. I thrive best in an environment without cats or male dogs though. I am housebroken, crate trained, and a Pups for Parole training graduate Fill out an application today and lets be besties!
Hi my name is French Toast and I am 9 months old After I was rescued it was found that I had a PDA, which meant I had to go undergo heart surgery. The aftermath of that surgery kept me hanging around the clinic for a bit longer than your usual furball These days, you'd never guess I went through all that trouble I jump and play like nothing was ever wrong and get along with kiddos and other cats. I do take daily medications that are approximately $30 per month.

Mabel was rescued after being shot in Lawrence County. Unfortunately her leg was damaged beyond repair and had to be amputated.
Since joining our pack, Mabel has found her place in it. Her calm, sweet demeanor has positively impacted the household. Despite her size, Mabel has won over my cat, Bonnie. Mabel has grown with my 2 Belgian Malinois, Heidi and Hanna. She started out just observing the dogs while on her bed or kennel, where she felt most secure, then progressed to being comfortable enough to share space with them inside the house She enjoys rolling in the grass and getting belly rubs Mabel has helped Heidi and Hanna with socialization, while my energetic dogs have managed to bring Mabel out of her shell.
We adopted Willow (Taylor) last October. She has really gained some confidence and my kids just love her. They even love when she jumps on their head to wake them up in the morning for school!
Tobi is absolutely thriving He spends his days eating, watching tv, laying in the sun, and waiting to pounce on innocent feet from under the blanket at any sign of movement. We’re just so happy to have him!
Today marks the 1 year anniversary of our adoption of Shannon from Rescue One! Thank you Rescue One for choosing us to be her Mom and Dad, she has brought us such joy!
