What does REISA do? REISA currently has over 400 members with a goal to maximise real estate learning opportunities at university. There is strong demand for tertiary learning opportunities in real estate finance and investment from our USYD REISA sponsor firms. However, USBS will not be offering any units in 2024 and it is anticipated that real estate finance and investment units will not be reintroduced prior to 2026. USYD REISA aims to increase awareness of the opportunity to complete real estate finance and investment units at other Australian tertiary institutions via the USYD outbound cross-institutional study program. We aim to make it easier for members to take advantage of this opportunity.

What is cross-institutional study?

Cross-institutional study enables you to achieve certain career aspirations that are otherwise difficult to attain with just your USYD degree. USYD students can study real estate finance and investment units offered by other Australian tertiary institutions such as UNSW, UTS, Western Sydney University, Griffith University and Deakin University. Students are permitted given they have completed at least 48 credits points towards their undergraduate degree, or 24 credit points towards their postgraduate degree. You should follow five steps if you wish to undertake a real estate finance and investment unit with another university Conduct preliminary research: Review USYD cross-institutional study material and chat with a student advisor from the USYD Student Centre. Chose a unit that interests you: Find and compare real estate finance and investment units offered by Australian tertiary institutions. Check unit details with institution: Contact institution to check the details of the preferred unit and obtain the documents required for USYD approval. If there are prerequisites, contact the unit coordinator to make sure you meet them and if possible to apply for a waiver. Obtain approval from USYD: Apply online to undertake outbound cross-institutional study. Your application will need to include a unit of study outline of the unit you have chosen. Obtain approval from institution: Chat with a student advisor from the Student Centre of the selected Australian tertiary institution about your admission as an inbound cross-institutional student and submit your application before closing dates.
