I hope you enjoyed the last few weeks of summer and have eased into fall
September has been a busy month for the Board as we kicked off our new year Coming off the Annual Membership Meeting we welcomed our newest Board Member, Steve Fennell. Steve is an attorney and over his 40year career he has been a litigator, mediator and arbiter. His committee experience at RBCC includes two years as a Member of Legal Affairs and one year on Governance
I would like to thank the Members who attended the Annual Meeting both inperson and via Zoom. We received positive feedback about the future of the golf course presentation led by Ed Brown and Joel Weiman, the golf course architect. If you weren’t able to attend the presentation, I encourage you to watch it on the Club’s website under Club Information < 2025 Annual Meeting. It will give you a good understanding of the water issues we face The Board will spend a good amount of time this coming year discussing the water and drainage issues on the course and evaluate the various options We will keep Members informed throughout the process.
Over the past few weeks, the Board continued the outreach efforts to the Membership on the importance of voting to Amend and Restate the Club's
COI. I encourage anyone who has still not voted to please do so; voting is open until October 4
Much like in years past, we had a very good response from Members in applying to share their time and talents to serve on our Committees; we will have over 90 Members serving this coming year The Governance Committee finalized the committee assignments and presented them to the Board for approval
The Board, along with some of the management leadership team, had a full-day retreat Henry DeLozier from GGA Partners was the guest speaker. He shared industry insights on trends in private club governance, strategic planning and club culture We had a very productive day focusing on the future of RBCC and prioritizing our major strategic initiatives for the next couple of years You will hear more about these initiatives over the coming months.
As we look forward to October, there are a lot of events planned at the Club; you will see more about them throughout this issue of Eagle Point; you can get additional information about the events each week in Eagle Tracks I strongly encourage you to come see the Lady Blue Hen Invitational on October 17 - 19 as teams from across the country

compete. You can either come to watch the woman play or volunteer to be a spotter or a scorer. If you're interested in helping you can contact Rick McCall in the Golf Shop
In late October, Robyn Stowell, a partner in the law firm Spencer Fane, LLP will be here at RBCC Robyn is one of only a few attorneys recognized nationally for her experience in private club governance. Robyn has been working with the COI / Bylaws Ad Hoc Committee, and with our management leadership team, on revising the Club Bylaws She has also advised us on incorporating best governance practices here at RBCC.
I wish you all the best for a great fall!

dedication We send them off with heartfelt thanks and an open invitation to return next year.
OCTOBER REFLECTIONS AT THE CLUB: GRATITUDE, GROWTH, AND NEW BEGINNINGS
As the vibrant greens of summer give way to the golden hues of fall, we find ourselves pausing for a moment of reflection and gratitude here at the Club. This past summer season our centennial summer was nothing short of extraordinary, and that is thanks, in large part, to you, our dedicated Members. Your support, your presence, and your love for this Club are what made this historic milestone not only possible but memorable.
With the close of September, we also said a fond farewell to another wonderful kids’ camps and pool season. While the water may now be still and the lounges stacked for the season, the laughter and memories made there linger. As we transition into autumn, we also say our yearly goodbyes to the incredible seasonal Talon Tribe staff who brought our summer to life with their energy, warmth, and tireless
Meanwhile, as leaves fall and the pace begins to shift, our year-round team is stepping into one of the Club’s most dynamic times of the year wedding and gala season. From dreamy “I dos” to unforgettable celebrations, it’s this team who picks up the heavy lifting behind the scenes, just as they do every year, with grace, professionalism, and pride. Their work is the backbone of the experience you’ve come to know and love.
Speaking of weddings we have a very special one to celebrate this October! While she may be away from the Club for the moment, our beloved Membership & Communications Director, Bethany Ackerman, is getting married! And, in true industry fashion, she’s tying the knot with none other than a Golf Pro We wish Bethany and her fiancé Jesse all the joy in the world as they begin this exciting new chapter and start a family of their own We can't wait to welcome her back perhaps with a few new stories to share.
This month also gave us a moment of pause for deeper reflection. While we were reviewing results from our fourth annual employee survey part of our ongoing commitment to becoming a better employer the news broke
about the sudden closure of Iron Hill Brewery and all its Philadelphia-area locations. The fact that so many employees showed up to work one morning only to find locked doors and no warning at all was heartbreaking. It reaffirmed a philosophy we’ve always held dear: our people are our greatest asset. When we invest in our Talon Tribe, we invest in the Member experience It's as simple and as important as that
You’ve likely received the invitation to complete your season experience survey, and we cannot stress enough how vital your feedback is. This survey is our annual scorecard; a compass we use to navigate improvements and measure whether the changes we’ve made are moving the needle not at all, too little or perhaps moving it too far With the guidance of our new committees, we’ll carefully interpret your feedback and fine-tune our offerings for next season Your voice is a key part of how we write the next chapter in our century-long history.
Looking ahead, the off-season is not a quiet time by any means. Our capital projects will resume, including upgrades to our golf course maintenance equipment, a renewal of the golf cart fleet, and a few other clubwide enhancements. Operationally, we’re proud to report that thanks to the incredible performance of all departments this summer, we’re
closing out the season with a small but healthy financial “cushion”.
We’ll continue to share more updates and insights in the upcoming newsletters, or better yet join me at our monthly “Coffee with C” gatherings, held on the first Saturday of every month at 9:00am It’s a relaxed, informal way to chat about Club happenings, ask questions, and enjoy a warm cup of coffee with fellow Members.
As always, thank you for being part of this special community May you enjoy this beautiful fall season at your home away from home a not-so-busyanymore beachside haven where lifelong memories are made.
With gratitude and warmest wishes, “C”

Effective October 1, a $100 Return Payment Fee will be charged to the Member’s account for any payment that is returned by the Member’s bank or credit card company. Members are encouraged to check their accounts regularly to avoid any additional charges.
The purpose of this survey is to understand your experience at Rehoboth Beach Country Club during the 2025 season. The survey includes questions about your satisfaction along with questions that generate demographic profiles representative of the Club's Membership.
The questions in the survey are designed to identify trends in the overall Membership of Rehoboth Beach Country Club and are not intended, nor will they be used, to identify individual Members. Aeration went exceptionally well. We had perfect weather, so the greens healed from the aeration within 10 days. However, we kept the greens a little hairier and continued watering every few hours throughout the month to ensure that we got the new seedlings to pop and get established in the bare areas. Overall, it was a very good catch and we're very happy with how it is coming along. We put plugs in the bigger areas to help the mowers bridge them, so they didn’t tear out the seedlings. We prefer to get seed in those areas, hence why the plugs do not fully fill the area – it might look a little weird but there is method to the madness! Over the next few weeks, we will plug some of the bigger areas as needed. There will still possibly be some scars left over the winter, but those scars will heal in the spring once everything's aerated. This is all in preparation for the 2026 season and beyond where the healthier better bentgrass varieties are better able to withstand stress and therefore provide even more consistent and fast conditions all summer long while also looking great.
We want to thank everyone's patience with the slightly unconventional watering practices over the month. The continuous watering was to help the new seed germinate and keep it healthy until it got established – which worked great. Now that the greens are back to normal and the greenspeeds have returned we will not have to continue that practice. However, since it worked so well with the aeration recovery also, going forward we plan to add it to the recovery program for a few days afterwards to further minimize the amount of downtime due to aeration.
We aerated, topdressed and seeded the tees which have recovered nicely. We plan to aerate the fairways in the late fall with solid tines, so it won't affect play too much during that time of the year. We also plan to aerate the roughs over the winter - it also won't affect playability or really be noticeable because of the solid tines We lowered the height of cut for the rough by ½”. While they are still dense, the lower height of cut has made them much more playable and has greatly reduced the number of lost balls.
We added plants along the edge of the pond bank on 6. These native plants will help stabilize the bank edge and when they fill in, they will hide the soil tide line. Therefore, when the water moves up and down in the pond, you'll just see grass and not a dead area on the side of the bank.
Golf Course Superintendent, Alan FitzGerald, would like to thank the Golf Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, the Finance Committee and the Board for approving the new golf course maintenance equipment. With it we have been able to catch up on the backlog of replacement equipment since COVID. This means we are now able to get maintenance done more efficiently and are able to schedule better as we don't have to worry about equipment going down or scheduling work around broken equipment. We really appreciate the effort that was needed to get this done and the commitment the Club has ensuring we have what we need to provide the best conditions possible.

Over the winter, we have some projects planned. The biggest one will be running a drain line from number 10 pond to 11 then to number 12. This drain will help mitigate the flooding on 18 fairway, and on 10 and 11 by getting the water to the bigger pond on number 12 faster, which can be pumped down. We are going to remove the remaining failing bulkhead on 6, partially on 4 and in front of number 5. We will then sod them and add the native grasses along the edges to help reinforce the banks. It will also provide a natural aesthetic around the edges and hide any tide lines as the pond level raises and lowers.
The biggest issue we had over the fall was the flooding from Hurricane Erin where the water came up through the drainage inlets along the roads, flowed between the houses and flooded the golf course. This flooding created a lot of saltwater damage. However, much of the Bermuda grass has come back. On number 9 specifically, the common Bermuda grass has come back extremely well. On number 18, the iron cutter overall has come back extremely well. Even on the drain lines where the soils were more saturated with the salt water there is some life in the crowns. As fall progresses the bermudagrass will start to go dormant and might not have enough time to grow out so we will end up sodding some areas in the spring. However, since 16 fairway had the most damage, we will need to sod the area. Even though the common Bermudagrass has mostly recovered and the bentgrass seed is slowly starting to grow, it will be early summer before it is good again – assuming no more flooding over the winter. We have a lot of fill soil stored in the maintenance area, so we plan to use that to do some regrading work there before sodding it to help move the water away from the fine turf. This will ensure that the turf will not sit under the salt water for as long as it traditionally has in that area so it will be better able to recover from flooding.
We appreciate everyone's patience over the last month with aeration and the seed grow-in. We're looking forward to the best part of the golfing season and hope to see you out there. Have a great fall.

As we enter the new season our minds turn to the holidays and the spirit of giving. Perhaps some of us are also anticipating the next tax season and want to make year-end charitable donations. If that's you, please consider a tax-deductible donation to the 1925 Eagle Foundation. You'll join other RBCC members who have made the Foundation's first year a great success. That success culminated in the granting of educational scholarships and grant assistance for Talon Tribe families in need.
