PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

I would like to update you all on a couple of Board initiatives I hope you saw the announcement of the results of the membership vote approving the Club’s amended and restated Certificate of Incorporation We handily surpassed the needed minimum requirement of 50.1% of outstanding shares, with 58% of shares voting to approve the COI Of the total shares that voted, 91% were in support of the revised COI. I’d like to thank the many RBCC members who supported this important initiative Additionally, I would like to thank the ad hoc committee that worked diligently on the COI initiative for the past two years: Buck Booth, Dan Coar, Nancy Freebery, Dan Krausz, and Mike Stakias, along with Bethany Ackerman, who provided tremendous communications support for the initiative. Their dedication to educating members and encouraging them to vote made the difference in getting our COI amended

Another Board initiative that we are in the process of finalizing is revising the Club’s Bylaws. The same ad hoc committee that worked on the COI has been working on the Bylaws RBCC engaged with an attorney who specializes in private club governance –Robyn Stowell of Spencer Fane. Robyn was at the Club on October 28th to meet with the Board and to speak with members of our Committees. Robyn shared good governance practices and explained the process used in revising

our Bylaws. Over the years, our Bylaws had grown to over 45 pages; most club bylaws are about 15 pages With Robyn’s expertise, she has guided us in streamlining and reorganizing the Bylaws into a more sequential order, updated and corrected the Bylaws ensuring they comply with the law, and incorporated best practices used by private clubs. Be on the lookout for more information about the revision of the Bylaws

A big thank you to the members who took the time to share their input and comments in the recent member survey. The Leadership Team, along with the Board and each individual Committee, have started reviewing the results You will be hearing more about what we learned in the coming weeks.

As November arrives, my wife and I are thinking about our plans for Thanksgiving with family and friends. I am sure many of you are doing the same! I hope some of your plans include taking part in the many events at the Club this month If you want to burn off some calories from your Thanksgiving meal, I encourage you to sign up for the Turkey Trot on Friday, November 28th; proceeds go to RBCC’s 1925 Eagle Foundation

We have much to be thankful for here at RBCC I am thankful for our Talon

Tribe and all they do to make our Club so special all year round– but especially as we head into the holiday season. I hope each one of you has a chance to spend Thanksgiving with the people you are most thankful for in your lives.

A SEASON OF THANKS AND TRADITIONS AT RBCC

As autumn settles in and the crisp air of November greets us each morning, there’s a special warmth that fills RBCC this time of year the kind that comes not just from fireside gatherings or hearty meals, but from gratitude. For nearly a century, our Thanksgiving Dinner has stood as one of the Club’s most beloved traditions a time when families and friends gather under our roof to share good food, laughter, and the true spirit of community. We look forward to welcoming you all once again for this cherished evening of togetherness and celebration Around the same time, the Club will proudly host the second annual Turkey Trot 5K on November 28, benefitting the 1925 Eagle Foundation This fun and meaningful event not only brings our members together for a good cause but also helps reignite another cherished tradition during the month of November the return of our talented artists and craft makers on

GENERAL MANAGER’S MESSAGE

November 22. Their creativity and craftsmanship will once again bring a festive flair to the Club, reminding us all of the artistry that has long been part of RBCC’s heritage.

And speaking of beloved traditions, we’re thrilled to announce that Fireside Dining will be making its return this season! Details will be shared soon in upcoming issues of Eagle Tracks from Jonathan, Carolyn, and our Food & Beverage team. We can’t wait to once again gather by the fire, share stories, and enjoy those cozy, intimate evenings that make this time of year so special.

As the Club transitions into the quieter months, we recognize and appreciate our year-round Members who bring a different kind of energy to RBCC one that’s relaxed yet full of connection The pace may slow a bit, but the camaraderie and warmth remain constant You’ll also notice a few new faces around the Club, as our local Talon Tribe steps up while our seasonal team members return home some to sunny Florida, others to El Salvador, and a few to Jamaica, which recently endured the impact of Hurricane Melissa We’re keeping in close touch and ensuring their safety as they recover from the storm’s effects.

incredible resilience, working tirelessly to restore the grounds and maintain the course’s playability after each challenge. Their dedication embodies the spirit of RBCC steady, determined, and always looking ahead.

November may be a quieter month before the holiday bustle of December, but behind the scenes, much important work continues Our leadership team is deeply engaged in budget planning for next year, capital project reviews, and the ongoing search for our next Racquets Director. With over 30 applicants under consideration, interviews are already underway, and we’re confident we’ll find the right person to lead our racquets program into the future.

We’re also in the midst of analyzing the results of our annual Member Survey. Last year, we received 520 responses, and while this year’s tally is currently around 300, there’s still time to make your voice heard before the deadline. Each survey helps us refine our services and offerings and with three years of data now in hand, we’re able to identify meaningful trends and opportunities for continued improvement A summary of the findings will be shared in the December newsletter and posted on our website for easy access.

Melissa didn’t spare us entirely either, leaving a few flooded holes on our already damp golf course. But, as always, Alan and his team have shown

Looking beyond the immediate horizon, we’re also turning our attention to the update of our Strategic Plan and the

development of a Master Facilities Plan. These initiatives, alongside the ongoing work of our Golf Course Task Force and architect Joel Weiman, will help ensure that our Club and our course remain vibrant, resilient, and ready for the next 100 years.

Indeed, there’s never truly a quiet moment at RBCC and that’s what makes our Club so special. Even after a century, it continues to grow, adapt, and thrive because of the strength of our community.

As we celebrate this season of gratitude, we extend our heartfelt thanks to each of you, our Members, and your family for your continued support, trust, and love for RBCC From our entire Talon Tribe, we wish you a warm and wonderful Thanksgiving filled with good health, happiness, and the company of those you cherish most With gratitude and appreciation, “C”

MEMBER UPDATES

THE SEASON OF GRATITUDE

The crisp air, the scent of cold weather, and the vibrant colors of the changing leaves remind us that fall is in full swing. This time of year brings with it one of the most meaningful holidays, Thanksgiving—a time to pause, reflect, and give thanks for the people and places that enrich our lives.

At the Club, we are deeply grateful for our Members and the sense of community that defines us. As the days grow shorter, the Clubhouse grows warmer with the sound of laughter, the clinking of glasses, and the joy of shared moments among friends and family.

As you browse through this month’s newsletter, you’ll see that our Food & Beverage, Golf, and Racquets teams have an exciting calendar of events planned to make this season both festive and memorable. Whether it’s a cozy dinner by the fire, a brisk round of golf, or a spirited match on the courts, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

COMMUNITY COMES TOGETHER TO SUPPORT MEALS ON WHEELS

Rehoboth Beach Country Club was proud to host the Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth Harry Derrickson Golf Tournament on a picture-perfect October day. The event was a huge success that brought together golfers, volunteers, and sponsors from across the community for a day of friendly competition and philanthropy in support of a vital local cause.

Thanks to the generosity of all who participated, the tournament raised enough to provide more than 3,000 meals for homebound seniors in Sussex County. Meals on Wheels LewesRehoboth continues to make an extraordinary impact by delivering nutritious meals and companionship to our neighbors in need, and we are honored to play a role in supporting their mission. Thank you to the Meals on Wheels team for their partnership and to everyone who helped make this event such a success!

As another incredible summer season comes to a close, we’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our Members for making it one to remember. The golf course was full of energy, the events were well attended, and the camaraderie among players made every day on the course special. From early morning rounds to lively evenings in the Clubhouse, this summer truly captured what makes our club community so unique.

With the seasons changing, there’s plenty to look forward to this Fall. One of the highlights will be our Fall Crawl Golf Tournament, a member-favorite event that blends friendly competition with a fun, social atmosphere. course maintenance & projects

Overall, it’s been a great fall, and the course has been playing very well. The H2B staff left at the end of October, so we will be adjusting our maintenance schedules accordingly to work with the more limited staff. Thankfully the growth is starting to slow down, so regular maintenance will slow down with it. The biggest job over the next month will be leaf cleanup as they are finally starting to fall. Last year we ran behind with the cleanup due to the reduced staff, who were kept busy keeping up with regular maintenance. This year we have some new equipment arriving which will help save labor on regular maintenance and free up staff to keep up on the seasonal jobs, like the leaf collection.

We’ve ordered materials for the winter drainage project and expect to begin by late November or early December. Once underway, we’ll communicate any disruptions in the golf emails. The main impact will likely be on Hole 11 as we work along the fairway and tree line, which may require temporary closure, depending on the amount of play.

the aftermath of the nor’easter

In the last Eagle Point, we shared some pictures of the flooding from Hurricane Erin, where water came up through the drainage inlets along the roads, flowed between the houses and flooded the golf course. As mentioned last month, much of the bermudagrass came back and even the Ironcutter bermudagraas over the saturated drain lines on 18 was slowing greening up. Unfortunately, the mid-month nor'easter flooded the course again and since the turf had not recovered fully, the second round of saltwater set it back more including killing the new seedling bentgrasses on 16. While the course flooded again from the nor’easter at the end of the month, thankfully it was not as bad as the other two storms.

Now that fall has arrived and the Bermuda grass is going dormant, there won't be any recovery this season, leaving us with poor turf conditions through the winter. We plan to over-seed with ryegrass to improve the appearance for the winter months, but the second nor’easter delayed it and as the season progresses, germination will be more difficult so it may not be successful – that won’t stop us from trying but if it does germinate, any additional storms could also flood the area again, killing any new growth. One positive is that the dormant bermudagrass can't absorb salt, so if we can flush the soil by spring, there is a good chance it will recover as it begins growing again. We plan to do some regrading work on 16 using excess material from the drainage project to help mitigate flooding in the future We will provide updates on it with the drainage reports.

COLLEEN’S RECIPE OF THE MONTH: EASY VEGETABLE SOUP

Ingredients (Suggestions! Add any veggies you prefer!)

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 yellow onion, chopped

5 cloves garlic, chopped

2 tablespoons tomato paste

5 stalks celery, chopped

5 baby potatoes, sliced

1 cup green beans

1 cup frozen corn

1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed

1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes

4 cups vegetable broth (or bone broth for extra protein)

2 cups fresh spinach

Directions:

Herbs & Seasoning:

Salt to taste

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes

1 teaspoon thyme

1 teaspoon oregano

1 teaspoon basil

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, and garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions become translucent and fragrant, about 5–7 minutes. Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 2–3 minutes, allowing it to darken slightly and develop flavor. Scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pot. Add celery, potatoes, green beans, corn, chickpeas, and crushed tomatoes. Stir to combine and cook for about 5 minutes. Add broth and herbs. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer uncovered for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally. About 5 minutes before the soup is done, stir in the spinach. Cook just until wilted. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Tip: This soup stores well — refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
