PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

There has been no such thing as “winter hibernation” at RBCC as, despite the snow and cold, much work has been taking place throughout the Club. For those who have remained in Rehoboth, we’ve enjoyed some Centennial events including the Wine Dinner and Culinary Journey Back to 1925, Bingo and International Couple’s Date Night dinners, and for those who escaped to warmer weather, we look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Reflecting on my message from last year, I find that the theme of navigating change still resonates deeply with us. Change, by its nature, can be challenging, but it also offers opportunity and growth. As you are aware, the Board has approved the 2026 Fiscal Year budget, which includes a 7% operating dues increase—down from the 10% increase we've had for the past three years. The Board hopes that you take a moment to review the detailed letter we sent regarding this decision, as we’ve worked hard to be transparent about the process and the careful deliberation involved.

Earlier this year, the Board also announced adjustments to the Club’s Senior and Junior Membership categories. After studying our membership structure and considering the financial health of the Club, we believe these changes are vital for the sustainability of our community. While we have received both words of support and some concerns, we have spent considerable time engaging with Members to explain our reasoning and listen to your perspectives. We understand that such decisions can be difficult, but the Board’s responsibility is to safeguard the Club’s long-term health, and sometimes that means making choices that may not please everyone but are in the best interest of the greater whole.

As we look ahead, March 25th will mark a monumental milestone—the date of the 100th anniversary of the beginning of our Club. A special “Black & White” dinner celebration will be held to commemorate this momentous occasion, and I truly hope you’ll be there to join us. The first edition of our Centennial publication, Soaring Through the Decades: The 20-40s Edition, has

already been distributed, offering a glimpse into the rich history of RBCC and highlighting exciting events ahead. As I read through this publication, I am reminded of the legacy that has been built here at RBCC—one of vision, perseverance, integrity, and unwavering determination.

The Club’s Core Values are a testament to the foundation of RBCC. With outstanding stewardship and genuine care, we are creating a community that thrives—one that is innovative, sustainable, and ever-evolving. As we celebrate the past, we look with excitement to the future, where we will continue to build on the strong foundation laid by those who came before us.

This Club is more than just a place—it is a reflection of all of us, united in our commitment to one another and to the greater good of RBCC. Together, we are creating a vibrant, sustainable legacy for generations to come.

Thank you for being part of this remarkable journey. I look forward to what we will achieve together in the year ahead.

GENERAL MANAGER’S UPDATE

As our restaurant remains the main attraction in the off-season, golf is waking up to life and you can see Alan’s team completing some projects (bridges) or working on new ones (holes #15 and #17). We’re scheduling maintenance work to re-open the tennis courts, repairing the pool deck for the summer, and replacing some HVAC units before the season really kicks in.

I’m sure that before we know it, the Club will buzz with activities throughout the entire campus, and we will enjoy new memories together.

I really don’t know how much longer we can wait until we spring into Spring and lose our winter coats. This has been a brutal winter, and you know what I mean if you stuck around Delaware. We’ve tried hard to keep you entertained during the winter months with creative events and specials delivered by the Talon Tribe, but we’re ready for a change.

March is the official birth month for our century-old Club and the membership is hyped about the Centennial plans. From events across all the amenities, to new merchandise with new logo options and…new faces. This winter we’ve said goodbye to Jerry Schreck and we’re about to do the same with Rachel Ridgeway (our HR Director). After three seasons of raising the bar, I don’t have enough words to thank them Little known fact: regardless of what you hear or thought you knew, Rachel was the Talon Tribe “spiritual mama” and that’s how we’ll always remember her. The Spring winds of change will introduce you two new hires: Tara Whalen joined the Accounting Department as the Sr. Accountant, Chelsee Miranda will welcome you in the Clubhouse Lobby, and Daniel Mulford will be the new HR Manager. Please stop by and say hi to them as we want to make sure they’re feeling welcomed.

Coming out of the hibernation, Coffee with “C” will resume on Saturday, April 5. The abovementioned updates were not the only changes since last year, as you’ve received Club communications about the operational dues increase, membership category changes, new county property assessments that affected all of us (including our property taxes), and the monthly updates about our operational gap closing plan. As I’m sure you have questions and comments, I want to do my best to listen, answer, and stay in touch. You’ll most likely hear me also talking about our preparations to welcome Frances Tiafoe, the tennis superstar, this summer as Terri and the entire Tribe plan to perfection for this once in a lifetime opportunity and honor.

As you’ll find out by flipping throughout these pages, there’re a million reasons for you to be here and you’re continuing to be our reason to be your experience oriented, Talon Tribe.

"The March wind roars Like a lion in the sky, And makes us shiver As he passes by. When winds are soft, And the days are warm and clear, Just like a gentle lamb, Then Spring is here."

COCKTAIL OF THE MONTH

Blackberry Jam Gin Sour

A rich and refreshing twist on a classic sour, the Blackberry Gin Sour blends the tart sweetness of ripe blackberries with the botanical depth of gin. Freshly muddled blackberries infuse the cocktail with a deep, jam flavor, balanced by zesty lemon juice and a touch of simple syrup. Finished with a blackberry garnish, this vibrant cocktail is as bold in flavor as it is in color.

GOLF PRO TIP OF THE MONTH

Tempo is Key

One of the most overlooked aspects of a great golf swing is tempo. A smooth, consistent rhythm helps generate power and accuracy, no matter your swing speed.

Drill to Improve Tempo:

Try the “2:1 Swing Ratio”-your backswing should take about twice as long as your downswing. To establish a steady rhythm. Practicing this with half-swings first will help you develop a natural, repeatable motion.

This will help smooth out the jerky movements and will help with consistency to impact. Always remember for something to change a direction it must come to a complete stop. So, taking the club back too fast only cause the body to sway back and getting stuck.

Next time you’re on the course, focus less on swinging hard and more on swinging smooth.

HOLE 15 CONSTRUCTION

Starting Monday, March 3, Hole 15 will be closed for construction. Hole 19 will be open and in play until further notice.

MERCH OF THE MONTH

Available in 10 oz and 16 oz sizes, they come in a variety of delightful scents. The 10 oz candles also feature a detailed drawing of the old clubhouse, as seen on a postcard from the 1930s.
