2022-23 ANNUAL REPORT The mission of Redwood Christian Schools is to provide a Christ-centered education which is able to equip students for daily living and eternal life. September 2023
The 2022-23 school year started with excitement, as it marked a return to a new normal, without any required COVID-19 restrictions. On August 15, 2022, RCS welcomed 639 eager students, their faces beaming with excitement for the start of a new school year. Our guiding theme, "Walking with God," was based on Colossians 1:10-12, "so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light."

LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Once again, RCS students performed extremely well in all areas of school. Here are a few of my favorites. 1. 100% of the graduating seniors who applied to colleges were accepted to at least one college. 2. Based upon the end of year MAP Growth Assessment, 75% of RCS students demonstrated proficiency at or above grade level in reading, and 71% in mathematics. 3. Three graduating senior athletes signed athletic commitment letters to play sports in college: Sarah Yeh signed to play golf at Wellesley College; Craig Yanagihara and Josh Nixon both signed to play baseball at Fresno Pacific. Meanwhile, a fourth senior, Brayden Bibby signed to play hockey for the semi-professional Texas Roadrunners. 4. Mr. Redemer started a 6am weightlifting club which was regularly attended by 25 students. 5. Seven of our high school sports teams earned the “Scholar Athlete'' distinction from the California Interscholastic Federation (Girls Softball, Girls Swimming, Girls Tennis, Girls Volleyball, Boys Soccer, Boys Swimming, and Boys Volleyball). 6. Dr. Barnhart led 18 students on a missions trip to the Navajo Nation in the spring. 7. Dr. Mora led 6 students on a mission trip to Puerto Rico in the summer. These exceptional outcomes stand as a testament to the dedication and hard work of the RCS students, faculty, and staff, as well as the commitment of RCS parents. Four of our graduating seniors earned their Eagle Scout Award. As the year drew to a close, we celebrated with great distinction the accomplishments of our students at our kindergarten, eighth-grade, and twelfth-grade graduations.

22-23 SCHOOL YEAR HIGHLIGHTS
Annual Dinner & Giving Tuesday The 53rd RCS Annual Dinner, held on Giving Tuesday at Redwood Chapel Community Church in Castro Valley, successfully raised more than $71,000 for the school's General Fund. Attendees at Williams Chapel savored a catered dinner and student performances during the event. Later, they relocated to the Sanctuary for a live program hosted by Dr. Hearne, which was also broadcast to our parents and other RCS friends watching from home.
Booster Club The Booster Club is a parent-run club that raises funds to help support the entire RCS sports program. With the return of our annual Crab Feed, the Club raised a net amount of over $22,000 for our athletics programs. Parents are encouraged to join the Boosters and volunteer their time for not only raising funds, but also working the gates for games, score keeping, and venue set up.
Jog-a-thon The 2023 Jog-a-Thon, in which grades TK-8 participated, raised a record-breaking $182,792. The funds raised through this year's Jog-a-Thon were utilized to enhance our facilities and Fine Arts program, as well as to provide tuition assistance.
