National Peach Month In 1982, President Ronald Regan declared August as National Peach Month. Georgia is known as the Peach State and produces 130 million pounds of the delicious fuzzy fruit each year, but California and South Carolina produce even more annually. Peaches contain soluble fiber which helps stabilize blood sugar and keeps cholesterol in check, and its insoluble fiber aids in digestion. Be sure to eat the skin, too, to maximize you healthy fiber intake.
