What’s in a name? For any music lover, the title of a song is everything. It gets you hooked, reels you in and tells you about the song. Some artists use their song titles to tell you something about themselves and the song. Here are some examples.

“I’d Hate to Be You When People Find Out What This Song’s About” by Mayday Parade

A killer rock anthem by a band that knows how to do it, this cool and catchy track sings about the woes of teenagers and proclaims so in its super cool title.

“If There’s a Rocket Tie Me To It” by Snow Patrol

“A Song for Everyone” by TX

“Seventeen Ain’t So Sweet” by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

Featuring probably the longest title ever, this indie groove is a must for lovers of ethereal vocals and chaotic drumming. And let’s be honest, you would never know about it if it weren’t for the title.

Traffic” by The Most Serene Republic

This punk rock treasure lives up to its name, as this super fast adventure theme song is for, you guessed it, everyone. All they want to know is do you want to come with them.

“I Put the ‘Metro’ In Metronome” by Cute Is What We Aim For It would be enough to be satisfied with this song’s clever title wordplay, but that wasn’t enough for this awe-

some band. They had to deliver a killer punk song and put it behind a title that gets everyone smiling.

“Delirium” by Motion City Soundtrack The title alone doesn’t scream clever right off the bat, but listening to the song explains it: “Delirium” warns you ahead of time that this is a rant of nonsense and chaos from one drugged up man. Bradley Burges can be reached at arg-arts@uidaho.edu

Playlist fresheners Discover a lesser-known artist based on the ones already known and loved Listen to St. Lucia and M83? Try Young Empires The same high-energy indie and electronic trademarks heard in these two better established artists is showcased in the work of up-and-coming Young Empires, combining to produce a unique sound. The band’s 2015 album, “The Gates,” is a masterpiece (and that’s not even being generous). The title track is bound to be big in the mainstream soon — it is melodically deep, provoking more than dance vibes from the listener. With fewer than 200,000 monthLyndsie Kiebert ly listeners on Spotify, this band is still undoubtedly Rawr low-key, but bound to blow up. I called it here first.

Listen to G-Eazy and Mac Miller? Try Mike Stud Duke baseball star pitcher turned established rapper, Mike Stud, is the real deal. With beats like G-Eazy but with hints of humor like Mac Miller, Stud spits addicting rhymes laid on beats both original and playing off pop hits. Some of his most notable remixes (which include his own lyrics) are “Show Me/Paranoid” and “Safe and Sound,” while noteworthy originals include “Brightside,” “Perfect For Me,” “Jack Daniels,” and “Bottle It Up.” But choosing just a few songs to list is painful and actually listening is the only thing that does Stud any justice.

Listen to Twin Forks and The Head and the Heart? Try Family and Friends This homegrown band composed of seven friends from Athens, Georgia, has a sound reminiscent of Twin Forks’ thumping folk tunes combined with The Head and the Heart’s sweeping melodies. With two EP’s released and a reputation for exhilarant live shows, Family and Friends has the loyal fan base of any folk band, but has songs that merit a larger audience. These include “Amadeus”, “Rust and Bone” and “My Life, My Love.”

3

Listen to Flume and ODESZA? Try Hermitude This Australian duo has been collaborating with artists all over the world for the better part of the 2000s, but just recently released a full-length album worth listening all the way through. While every album has its high and low points, the high points on Hermitude’s “Dark Night Sweet Light” get gold stars. The song “The Buzz” is everything an electronic hip-hop fan could want — killer base and even better use of voice and melody. The electronic indie and hip-hop scenes are better for having Hermitude make a place among them.

Listen to Halestorm and Motionless In White? Try In This Moment How can metalcore be so killer with a female lead singer and music that entails more than just ripping on guitars and deafening double bass? LA-based band In This Moment delivers just that, and has been for 10 years. More hardcore than Halestorm but with less screaming than MIW, In This Moment consistently delivers music with the lyrics and intensity to hook any rocker. Song gems include “Sex Metal Barbie,” “Whore” and “Adrenalize.” Lyndsie Kiebert can be reached at arg-arts@uidaho.edu or on Twitter @lyndsie_kiebert

Climbing to the top Students share their experiences working at the Rock Climbing Center Alex Brizee Rawr The rock climbing wall in the University of Idaho’s Student Recreation Center is a resource that students, community members and climbing employees can enjoy. Kevin Townsley, a UI senior, works at the rock climbing center three days a week. “It’s the best job on campus by far. I never don’t like coming to work,” Townsley said. “There’s really no other option for me.” Townsley leads weekly instructional clinics that teach people how to be safe on the wall. He said he also helps teach more advanced climbing clinics. “How to climb things that are longer than a rope length because obviously you have to be tied up onto the rope,” Townsley said. Along with teaching the advanced clinics, Townsley maintains a safe environment by making sure that everyone is following the climbing wall rules and wearing their gear correctly. “It’s almost like lifeguarding but a little but more involved,” Townsley said. When it comes to climbing, Townsley said he enjoys it not only because it is a physical sport, but also because it requires some technique. “It’s kind of creative, and also kind of brute force. You can kind of find something that suits your body style,” Townsley said. Josh Nisson, UI first-year and mechanical engineering major, works at the climbing center with Townsley and has been climbing since his freshman year of high school. “I’m also on the climbing team and I try and climb probably about two to three times a week depending on how busy I am with school,” Nisson said. Yet, Sprague said the community is not the only enjoyable part of her job. “The best part of my job is bringing my dogs to work with me,” she said. Missy and Maxime, the shop’s two canine assistants, are valued members of the shop’s staff. Safari Pearl co-owner Tabitha Simmons said the dogs come into work with them every morning. “They’re a big part of the experience,” Simmons said. “There are any number of students who have left their dog at home and can’t have their pets in the dorms or apartment that they’re in. So they come in here and get their doggy fix. Simmons said the community they’ve built with Tabikat Productions is closely tied to Safari Pearl and Eclectica. “A lot of people who are exploring gender boundaries and things like that feel comfortable coming in here,” she said. “It’s just a safe place to be around affirming people who just live life every day.” Simmons said the store has given them a platform to help members of the LGBTQA community as they take their first steps toward coming out. “We provide a safe place for people to be able to do that,” Simmons said. “It’s a place to come pick up your rainbow sticker or whatever else it is that you need.”

#Relationshipgoals There is nothing better than watching a favorite TV show and rooting for two characters to finally realize they are meant for one another. Over many years and seasons, TV relationships have been making us swoon with happiness. Here is a list of the best TV couples.

Lorelai and Luke

wonderful couple. Their transition from just friends to a wedding proposal at high school graduation is just one of the reasons Cory and Topanga have become one of the best TV couples.

Monica and Chandler “Friends” is one of those TV shows that does not die out, exactly like the relationship of Monica and Chandler. Chandler’s comedic sarcasm may be polar opposite to Monica’s clean-freak attitude; however, they really are the perfect pairing. The fact that they loved one another as friends first and foremost is what makes their relationship so awe-worthy.

Luke and Lorelai’s relationship blossomed out of argumentative banter and mutual love, over an entire seven seasons of “GilmHailey ore Girls.” Because there were so many Stewart seasons, both Luke and Lorelai’s characters Rawr developed enough on their own to become one amazing couple. Luke, found his softer Mitch and Cam side, becoming a father figure to Lorelai’s daughter, “Modern Family” is a TV show that has no and Lorelai grew into a successful mother and busiproblem in the department of creating adorable ness owner. It was essentially the characters that couples, and the best of those couples is definitely viewers fell in love with separately, and loved even Mitch and Cam. Besides the fact that their relationmore once they fell for one another. ship is built on the quirkiest of love, they are also Cory and Topanga the adoptive father’s of an even sassier daughter. “Boy Meets World” was a staple TV show for many Whether they are trying to outdo one another in the early ’90s to early 2000s. Cory, the witty kid next while proposing or figuring out who wore it better, door, and Topanga, somewhat of a flower child, grow up Cam and Mitch’s relationship is one to aspire to, together throughout the series and eventually become a every episode.

Valentine’s Day is over, but it’s not too late to appreciate these adorable TV couples

Nathan and Haley Although “One Tree Hill” may not have been the most accurate depiction of a small town high school, it was still incredibly easy to believe in the realness of the relationship between Haley and Nathan. Their relationship came to be when Haley began to tutor Nathan, and soon after they fell in love. Complete with a few kidnappings, and a car crash, it was really was happilyever-after. The two found love, albeit a little fast, however, it lasted an entire nine seasons, which gave viewers all the more reason to fall in love their relationship.

Jim and Pam If Jim and Pam’s relationship in “The Office” didn’t make viewers want to start up their own office romance, then I don’t know what would. Between their subtle looks to each others desks, co-pranking Dwight and mutually loathing their jobs, what isn’t there to love about Jim and Pam? The two characters just clicked on screen, and definitely made everyone want to find their own Jim or Pam. Hailey Stewart can be reached at arg-arts@uidaho.edu
