AREA HISTORY

The story of Ashley Lake begins with Joe Ashley, a hardy trapper, hunter, and trader who settled in the rugged mountains west of today’s Flathead Valley around 1857. Ashley Creek was named in his honor, and the shimmering lake that formed along its course soon adopted the name as well. By 1897, the Ashley Lake Irrigating Company recognized the creek’s potential and constructed a dam to enlarge the lake, providing critical irrigation water to the valley’s growing community of farmers and ranchers.

As the surrounding forests matured, the land gained value for its timber. By 1918, a sawmill operated on the property, and in the 1930s, a rustic log building was raised on the point where the main home stands today, which is an early testament to the area’s rich natural resources and enduring appeal.

Ashley Lake lies within the greater Flathead Valley, a region steeped in history long before settlers arrived. For thousands of years, the Salish, Kootenai, and Pend d’Oreille peoples called this valley home, shaping a cultural legacy that remains vibrant today. European fur traders and homesteaders followed in the 1800s, drawn by fertile soil, abundant wildlife, and the spectacular backdrop of the Rocky Mountains and nearby Flathead Lake. Their efforts helped establish the welcoming communities of Kalispell, Whitefish, Bigfork, and Columbia Falls, each contributing to the valley’s reputation as one of Montana’s most scenic and recreation-rich destinations. Today, those wonderful communities offer a variety of cultural events, shopping, dining, and activities for locals and visitors alike, making the Flathead region a wonderful area to visit or live.

BUYER AGENT

A “Buyer Agent” is obligated to the Buyer to: Act solely in the best interests of the buyer; Obey promptly and efficiently all lawful instructions of the buyer; Disclose all relevant and material information that concerns the real estate transaction and that is known to the buyer agent and not known or discoverable by the buyer, unless the information is subject to confidentiality arising from a prior or existing agency relationship on the part of the buyer agent; Safeguard the buyer’s confidences; Exercise reasonable care, skill, and diligence in pursuing the buyer’s objectives and in complying with the terms established in the listing agreement; Fully account to the buyer for any funds or property of the buyer that comes into the buyer agent’s possession; and Comply with all applicable federal and state laws, rules and regulations.
