R5 Concer t Ex p er i ence By A shley On July 10th, 2017, I got to see R5 for the third time! I went with my best friend, Elisa, and my mom to the Houston show. We only had regular admission tickets, so we didn?t arrive at the venue until 5:45pm. The venue was so small (very unexpected) and we could see the tour buses from our parking spot and the line to get inside. My first R5 concert, two years ago, also in Houston, probably had 3-4 times the amount of people than at this concert. Once we got in, we went to get some merch (I got a tour shirt, poster, and a blindfold) and then we went and stood in front of the stage. We thought that a ton of people would show up, but nobody did! We were like 7-8 people from the front of the stage, so we ended up really close to it, even though we were at the back of the crowd. At this show, we had three opening acts: Jena Rose, Hailey Knox, and Alexander Jean. I wish Ryland was opening for them too but the other acts were great! Once R5 went on, of course it was an amazing show. During the show, Ross explained that they chose this venue (White Oak Music Hall), because the director of My Friend Dahmer was the architect for the building! I really liked hearing all the new songs live. Especially Red Velvet ? a song in which Ross rapped and then at the end he put on some tap shoes and TAP DANCED! It was amazing and I loved it! Overall, I really enjoyed the show and I hope R5 comes back to Texas again soon!

R5' s Special Guests: New Addictions Tour By Ashley This summer, R5 has been on tour to promote their new EP: New Addictions. As always, they?ve had a few people to be their opening act. Keep reading to get to know these acts! Hailey Knox grew up in Carmel, New York and has been singing since she was 2 years old. Growing up with a guitar-playing dad and a supportive mom, she began posting videos online in 2014. Very quickly, her covers began to go viral and even caught the eye of Meghan Trainor (she tweeted her cover of ?Ain?t No Sunshine?). After signing a record deal, she released her breakout single ?Geeks? in May 2016. Last year, she went on tour, opening for Charlie Puth on his We Don?t Talk Anymore Tour. This year, she is opening for almost every single show on the New Addictions Tour. Alexander Jean, composed of Dancing With The Stars?pro dancer Mark Ballas and his wife BC Jean, began to form shortly after the duo met in 2012. Their first EP, released in 2016, showcases their indie style and their debut single, ?Roses and Violets?, hit # 1 on the iTunes singer/ songwriter chart and # 6 on the iTunes overall chart. At the time of their formation, the couple were only dating, but as of November 2016, they have been happily married. Alexander Jean joined R5 for the first half of their New Addictions Tour.
New Beat Fund, formed in 2011, features lead-vocalist/ guitarist Jeff Laliberte, bassist Paul Laliberte, guitarist Shelby Archer, and drummer Michael Johnson. As an opening act on tour for blink-182, their fan base expanded greatly in 2013. Their first full-length album, Sponge Fingerz, was released in 2015. As long-time friends of R5, in 2017, they teamed up to create R5?s song ?Red Velvet?, a song off of New Addictions, which featured New Beat Fund. This followed with the band coming on tour with R5 to play ?Red Velvet? together, but also play some of their own songs in opening. New Beat Fund joins R5 for the second half of their New Addictions Tour.
